I don't think the issue was that players were misusing it, it was that Nexon was misusing it. They didn't fix any of the bugs that were reported. I reported over 40 bugs in term 2 alone, and reported all those same bugs and more in term 3. To date only two have been fixed, one being the disconnect glitch which plagued term 3 and the second being the untranslated text messages on maple island.

Deviant Wrote:Less than half of the users used it for its intended purpose, which disappoints me a lot, most just used it like some sort of Legit private server. Anyway, I wouldnt mind having it back if it was used properly and actually helped cut down on bugs, however I think Masteria content should all be seen at the same time, like they did with CWK, no test server for that, sure there'll be small bugs, but I personally prefer if it didnt go into tespia.
Also: I felt it was unfair how the multiple accounts thing was abused, some people would post things like "I GOT IN ON 6 OF MY ACCOUNTS!" which made me feel like crap for doing it the fair way, and failing to get in every time.
Really? I saw it differently. There are two groups of people I observed.
-made 3587913651387571389 accounts to get in.
-made 1-3 accounts to get in.
Guess what? I've noticed that the people who made 1-3 accounts actually were reporting they made it into Tespia more than the people who created 1357132895713 accounts.
But eh, if it makes you feel better, I've got selected for all three rounds and only used two accounts (main and mule). Yes, the second round doesn't really count, but in the third round my account was picked for both drawings (remember for some people one said they didn't make it in, but the other one did...)

Yeah, but I recall some posts on another forum about how people had like 8 accounts getting in and stuff.
I recall one on Basil that was a thread called "How many of your accounts got into Tespia?" where people were bragging how 5/12 of their accounts got in and such, it just ticked me off.

i got in to testpia 1, 2, and 3 with only 1 account. I think it's unfair that people use more than 1 account. Nexon sould have put an ip limit on the amount of accounts used. As for me i reported as many bugs as i possibly could, and i ended up being rewarded with 10k maple points. Even though 1 or 2 of the bugs i reported accualy got fixed i feel accomplished for accualy getting the reward for being one of the top bug reporters. One bug from testpia 3 alot of people overlooked was the bug that allowed you to sware on the macro names.

As Isaac said, a reason because they closed Tespia could be that they noticed they couldn't fix the reported bugs (for a ? reason).
They thought they could do it, so they "tried" doing this new Content Testing "event", but they ended up not opening it anymore because they KNOW it was useless. At least for them.
Remember that the purpose of Tespia shouldn't be getting a level 162 4th job character with uber 1337 stats and screwing around, but reporting bugs. And NEXON should fix them.
So the tester's job = bug reporter, while NEXON's job = bug fixer. In the last round probably only 30/5000 testers actually reported bugs accurately. And NEXON fixed about 2/50 of them. That made Tespia become useless. Neither the testers or NEXON were doing their jobs.
And yeah, as someone said, if you told you was going to report a bug on Tespia, people laughed at you, and many people explicitely said that they weren't going to report any bug and that they were just going to enjoy themselves. That made me go mad.
Seeing how they tested Ariant (minor content IMO), didn't test Singapore and aren't going to test Magatia, I can say they don't plan to open Tespia for a while. Maybe they will open it again sometime next year, when they have some new ideas to let more testers report bugs and when they will decide to fix them SERIOUSLY.

Hey Comb, that did made me go mad too.
Anyways, I dunno, some of the bugs seem very easy to fix. The typos in Monster Carnival, for instance. They could fix that in a snap. What about the Extra D glitch? All of the other versions with Showa Town have no Extra D glitch so I can't see why they would close that. Anyways, if it was your reason, Nexon would have probably close Tespia after rounds I or II when they figured out they can't fix the bugs. But no, they extended it all the way to term III...
It probably was just an event to get people hyped up about the area. Nexon said they would shut it down for CK, and so they did. After, they probably either forgot about it or converted Tespia into Yellonde.
And besides, we're not needed anymore.

To prevent situations where people don't actually test for bugs, they should just restrict access to only the content they want to test. Like for monster carnival, you'd log into the lobby with Cody standing next to Spiegelmann ready to advance you to level 40 and no way to leave the cpq place.
Another thing is to restrict access to testing servers for like only accounts with level 150+ characters. This takes out the "legit private server" and multiple account creating problem, and they might actually listen to the bug reports since the reports are coming from their most loyal customers.

Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah WOAH!?!?!???
Okay. Let me give you something that happened...
Monster. Level 150+ in GMS, and he was being a total tard during the first two terms in Tespia. He held Zakum, again, and again, and again. He would never stop. His guild was holding Papulatus. And he was 15ish accounts in Tespia, all from 150ish accounts he tried.
Now, look at Isaac. 100 in GMS. Helpful, reported glitches, reported typoes, reported old glitches...yeah...
So, if you're still deciding to limit the level limit to 100, look at me...
ClawofBeta. Level 50 in GMS (just barely made the cut). Reported 30+ glitches average in each term of Tespia. Gave free equipment at Cody. Attempted not to Smega spam during the first term, and not an idiot during the terms.
Yeah, it might solve problems, but some people out-of-the norm will feel extremely disappointed or elated...like me, or Monster.

"Loyal customers" is not the same thing as being high leveled.
If they're going to do any kind of restriction at all, it should be for accounts established after X amount of time. X being a certain number of months over 6-10.

You're not supposed to be hunting bosses anyways, the server's only there just so you can test the stuff they want you to test. And by the level 150+ thing, I meant that level 150+ people are less likely to move off to some private server after feeling the adrenaline rush that is being level 162 and thus more loyal to the official servers. Level 50/100 people are a lot more likely to leave after feeling what being level 162 is like. Remember that the test server is just for testing, not for having fun like bossing with a level 162 character.

2nd term. Showa Town. Bosses. Monster pretty much looted all of Anego's combs along with his guild, and only his guild got to test The Boss. I don't even think they reported the bugs of the bosses, douchebags they were.
But don't get me wrong, holding bosses wasn't the only bad thing that Monster had done. I'm pretty sure he probably did interfere with some testing stuff, too.
Anyways, since most (all?) private servers are now stuck in version 0.55, and Pirates are now out in GMS, a huge number of players, no matter their level are less likely to run off to a private server, but instead wait until the next term of Tespia where they hopefully will be picked.

The problem in my mind is that they let the same people in each round, regardless how they'd performed in the previous ones.
If they completely disallowed getting in multiple times, or just kicked out anyone who didn't report pomegranate, it could have been a lot better.

It's probably a good thing I never got in... I actually earn my living by being a tester. Even though it's for optical network equipment, the same principles apply.
Reporting so many bugs and having none of them fixed would have ticked me off so much. At least at work, I have enough clout to force the designers to fix the problems that I deem more important. The easy stuff like the "palstic surgery" doctor in Ariant doesn't get to be put off either since it's a freaking label. Takes 3 seconds to piggyback that type of fix onto any patch release and only about 5 mins to properly test afterwards.

I'm right here you know..
I'm lvl 17x on 2 accounts in GMS, 3 soon thanks to my new brawler. As I see it, I was a helpful human being ^_^, i restricted the flow off idiots from doing non stop Zakum, Pap, and forced them to the new content.. I think?
The problem with the test servers is the level up system we got, instant 162, many people ( like you ) will never get to 162, it's a new experience and they rather do stuff they can't in gMS so they go Zakuming, Horntailing, and training on skele which is all old-content not needed to be tested, which forces them to ignore the content that we got.. good or not, no one wants to stay on low level maps knowing its useless for them too in the actual server. Ariant.. was a joke, never stepped foot into it on gMS, Showa is useful for bossing only.. if you remember, both channels where filled all the time looking for anego.. why? High level content. And the one that released Horntail.. give me a break, what where they actually testing? If they can get in?
Btw we didn't hold BodyGuard, Johnny got pissed at me for not allowing him in Zakum so he took 3 mules and put them on the chest auto looting, ^_^.
Test servers are useless unless we are going to get stuff that will actually impact our actual game play, CWK would've been a good candidate but Nexon had other plans in mind. If we get Ulu City, or Time Temple that should be actual content tested since people will give pomegranates about it, other then that, its useless.
Btw, why do you keep the little tags in your name saying your a content tester? Who gives a pineapple, its a random chance to get in, and you didn't change a thing and no one remember you for anything you did. Take it out.. accomplish something real then display it... before you look down on me, try actually having a sense of accomplishment to raise your chin at.

Well, Magatia is a "major-enough" content to be tested.. but it won't be.
Singapore was another "major-enough" content to be tested because of Capt. Latanica, but it didn't get tested, and we all can see the results. Hell, maybe even if it got tested NEXON wouldn't have fixed that bug, but whatever..

I never went to Zakum or Horntail (although admitably I did attempt to Zakum). I've Monster Carnivaled enough times to get a Spieglemann's necklace, plus enough times to get all three marbles. I've did all of the Ariant quests. I've pretty much did anything a tester could have done. good or not, no one wants to stay on low level maps knowing its useless for them too in the actual server. Right. Look at Isaac and me. I thought the Ariant quests, at least the storyline, were so good in Tespia, I've done it two more times in GMS. Isaac, being the quest nerd he is, of course done it in GMS even with a level 10x character.Ariant.. was a joke, never stepped foot into it on gMS Just said something about in the previous bolded part.,Showa is useful for bossing only.. if you remember, both channels where filled all the time looking for anego.. why? The heck. Ariant impacted nubs.

Dude. I think you're the only one complaining about my signature. I swear, if you've been on Southperry long enough, you would have been extremely ****ed at my previous signatures. And hell, I could've posted that I'm the second most most poster here, or that I'm a beta player. But I decided it was Tespia since that was the most enjoyable experience of my Maple life.

The only way I see Tespia becoming useful is if they make an easily searchable categorized database that has a listing of all the bugs found during testing and shows the status of said bug (acknowledged/fixed/waived). That way, they wouldn't have to wade through all the useless and duplicate reports and the testers would actually see that they are accomplishing something. But what do I know, I've only seen testing in a professional environment.
Granted I can't say much for my position in the Tespia seeing as I only made it into round 3 and I grew impatient seeing as the whole server was glitched and I wasn't about to work for free for them for the 1-2 day(s) that it actually worked. I have other things to do too. I was willing to help them out, but in my eyes it was charity. If you want some kind of charity, you have to be convent to the schedule of the donator if you want anything. I still did report 2 bugs though. 1 of the whole server not working after a few seconds/little movement after logging in and 2 of NPC text boxes popping up on the login screen just after disconnecting.
Seeing the staff and system of Tespia, I just don't think it is practical for NEXON to hold public testing events.

^_^, I'm a big Maple nut, been around since Beta too. You missed my point about stuff being useful, Ariant for example is only good for quests if you are a quester, but the experience there isn't that revolutionary that it will make me waste time taking boats to get there. If we got an area like Time Temple, or Neo Tokyo , ( obviously not ), I guarantee you swarms of people will be testing the content non stop, because its exciting and new, and offers something other then low level content that dominates this game. Now I know the main population of every game consists of lower leveled people, and that's where the majority of the quick profit for Nexon come's from so they have to cater to their needs more in order to make them stay longer, but it just isn't something that the majority of the population is into too, I've seen a lot of low level people actually wanting higher level content, for the people who actually struggle to enjoy, and something to look forward too ( Look at the explosion in 4th job characters since we got 4th job, motivation = desire )
This is Nexon tho, they tend to screw up the smallest things, so I guess everything deserves to be tested, especially never before seen content like CWK that ended up Auto-Banning me twice now. Nexon should learn they ain't a very capable company and actually allow testing of all content before risking it in the actual server.
Anyways ^_^ I wasn't trying to troll, so I don't get the warning, but anyways, :3 Have fun.

Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah.
Experience? Hell, Ariant is awesome experience for level 20-30s. And to get there, level 20s can just do Manji's quest which gets there INSTANTLY, and for free. To get back, they can just utilize the dude that sends you to Victoria Island instantly for like, 10k mesoes.
But yeah, about Time Temple or Neo Tokyo (we should get them...) of course people will be testing them. They have a challenge, unlike in Ariant and CPQ where they can 1hko the monsters. Heck, if the only thing that changed in Ariant was the level of the monsters, a lot of people would be testing them.
And they don't need us anymore...they're paying testers now, lololol.
Eh, I'm not sure about you trying to troll, but I sure did (accidently, reading my past post over) respond to it as if it was a troll X_X.
And for some reason I'm not believing you're Monster, he seemed a lot more ruder in Tespia .
