Terraria discussion thread

I bet the "New content" for the console releases is just reworked game mechanics to make them work with a controller.

I'm not expecting anything new or exciting at all, but i'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Oh well, there's always Starbound!

Okay, let me pose a hypothetical. Say I am considering doing an update for the PC version of Terraria... In the event that such a thing were to take place, what would be some things that you would be interested in seeing?

With so many ideas tossed around, it'll be hard to gauge what new content will be added in. Would be nice to have some bugfixes, more openness to mod devs, and everyone that the console version got.

But with Starbound making some leaps and bounds, maybe it's too late. xd

It's interesting that he's considering saddling up the ol' horse again, and I pray to god that if he does the community will stop giving him so much undeserved ass-hurt. I can understand being disappointed, but I mostly see people practically claiming to be ENTITLED to more content and crap, especially once the console port was announced. At least PC version has access to mods that have already been adding new systems, enemies, gear, building items, bosses, etc. We don't even NEED ''official'' updates anymore, and no matter what the consoles get we'll still have way more than them anyway.

Also, I'd still play Terraria if he continues to update it, even with Starbound being released. They're somewhat different experiences in my opinion. Terraria is more of the ''classic RPG''-type, whereas Starbound is more like Borderlands with a Terraria skin. I actually still play Terraria with Omnir Mod somewhat often.

If he releases updates that are warrant people to return, I still have the SP server from long ago.

It's not so much of entitlement, but more so of the notion that we all thought the game would be abandoned. To find out that the console port would come out with exclusive stuff that PC users won't get is kinda like a slap to the face.

If he actually supports modding now, I feel like Terraria could revive from this. That's a big if though. From my memory, most of the issues that arose when I was playing was that he was being a plantain to everyone that did anything to block up the server side glitches, exploits, and what not. If he changes around on this I would love to check the game out, but my experience was that it was too easy for others to make your server go to hell quickly.

Nothing actually changed when the port was announced except even MORE of the same complaints + ''y dey get dis n we dun?!''. There were people even demanding they be refunded because of ''false advertisement'' since apparently to them the game was advertised as: ''Will be updated for eternity!''

While the "false advertisement" crap is a load of bullshit (We got exactly what was adverised), I do remember the entire "We intend to make this massive list of stuff," thread that had all kinds of stuff that never happened. In that regard, I can understand the annoyance because it seemed to go from "We're going to make this," to "We were going to make this but pineapple it," rather quickly. Asking for a refund though is ludicrous.

HP bar for other players. It's very annoying to hold your cursor over other players, especially when they have hermes boots.

I agree with you on this and I am interested in adding this to the game.

Is redigit still reading this topic? Anyway, my understanding is right now there's no spriter for adding new items.

Yes I am still reading it and you are incorrect in that assumption, I am not the only one spriting for the game right now.

I definitely think the coin cloning bug should be fixed.

He's got spriters again? Interesting. Also, player HP bars like how it is on Maple with parties is a freaking great idea.

Out of all the things I have sugested (lists are: comment 11 page 109 and comment 8 page 112) I think the second tier meteor armor is the best and most important since the normal meteor armor kinda sucks. Dont get me wrong it is an awesome armor it just doesnt have high enough stats to be usefull over a long period of time. That is why I think the game needs a second tier :p

Addressing the issues with meteor armor is something on the list.
