Idk, I went through Hard Mode almost entirely in melee. The Chlorophyte Partisan is incredibly strong and the Paladin's Hammer is even more ridiculous.

I really dislike that the revamped Hard Mode heavily encourages Ranged / Magic, as if Spectre Armor wasn't obvious enough. I farmed the Hard Dungeon for a while and when I ran out of bullets for my MegaShark, I was getting destroyed just trying to melee.

Protip: Get the mushroom NPC asap. If you build a mushroom biome/house for him he can spawn immediately as soon as you enter hardmode. He sells one of the most powerful spears in the game for 30g. It pineapples up most enemies you'll come across and can hit through walls. This will buy you plenty of time before you get better melee gear.

It hits multiple times too cause it has a "spore" effect that lingers for a bit.

Does anyone know if all 5 Dungeon Chests still spawn even if you don't have the associated biome? I have only Crimson in my world and I would hate to have to create a new world solely for the key and chest if that doesn't end up being the case.

My single player world did not have crimson and did not have a crimson chest in the dungeon.

I didn't even know there was going to be a Halloween update until I watched HERO's dungeon key farm video. Pretty excited to see what they do to the dungeon weapons, if I ever get them before then.

I want to do this to one of the guys at work that also plays

And oh boy, hardmode is so much harder this patch. I died like 5 times just trying to get to the crimson to break altars. How am I going to get the ores if I get stomped by pretty much every mob?

The same way as before: You scrape by until you can get one of the early craftable hardmode weapons, then wreck face!

Once I get hard mode, will dive straight into the jungle without any gold on me and nothing but my armor and mini-shark to see how long I last. #yolo

I would say the Hard Dungeon is worse than Jungle. That pomegranate is insane.

That's mine. It's not all plats though, 2 of those stacks are Silvers that didn't convert over when I did the "quick stack" thing.

Admittedly about half of it was inadvertently duped; I did a huge Destroyer farming session one night and got almost 200 Plat coins from selling the drops (Souls go for 2g apiece and bars for 80 silver). After that I shoved it all into a chest and alt+F4'd out of the game to go play some EO. Closing the game in that fashion apparently doesn't save any recent changes to your character, so when I logged back on all of the coins were still in my inventory AND in the chest.

Items can be lost like this if you, say, alt+f4 just after having taken something out of a chest, so be careful when exiting the game.

Yolo doesn't even fit in this situation, because in Terraria...you don't (Unless you're on Hardcore of course).

Pretty much. Minishark is about as useful as a copper shortsword once you get to hardmode.

A Phoenix Blaster is a much better investment.

Do a few wall of flesh if you have dolls left. (Don't forget to let the guide respawn).
Find a clockwork rifle and you're set for quite a while.

Went into hardmode myself today and am currently digging a huge square under my place with a wood hallway to make sure
the hollow and corruption/crimson will never reach me.

Well you know what I mean. Besides, there would be no way I'd ever think of doing stupid things on a hardcore character. I'd probably just stop playing the moment I beat the Wall of Flesh on a hardcore character, for I know Hard Mode on a hardcore character is going to be a plainly masochistic test of my patience.
