Everything becoming easier isn't always a good thing. Over time, more people are going to make it to the same level of play for less effort, but it's more acceptable when that comes about as a result of a better understanding of the game along with new content to fill previous voids rather than artificially throwing us more damage or more exp.
Yeah, eventually we're probably going to reach a point where a casual player can hit 4th job within a year and your average grinder will be able to make it to 16x or higher. But this is a stupid way to achieve it.
It doesn't affect anything overall. A leecher has no skills, a casual player isn't going to take your place in a boss run. If you work hard, you buddy list and guild know it and they're the ones who you count on to do anything worthwhile with once you're a high level so a bunch of randoms getting up there isn't going to affect anything except silly unimportant rankings.
Besides, more high levels = more need for high level content = happy happy happy.

More need for high level content != more initiative by Nexon to produce it. Rather, it just fills up the same high level content with more people.

I'm sure that once we finally get some new high level content Nexon KOREA* will have learned enough to add mini dungeons from the get-go.
edit: sorry I had to specify Nexon Korea because nexon america is worthless and doesn't learn from anything they do.

Depends on the kind of content they add, don't it? Time temple might be popular in asia, but that sure as hell isn't the case over here.

How is it not popular? I earn more money there than at Skeles MD thanks to tons of dark equipment, Pieces of Time will fetch a pretty penny, and the Oblivion 4 map is a godsend for non AM/Bishop classes.

Dunno about your server, but i've never seen anyone actually training there in khaini.
There's a clear difference in popularity is the point. In asia i'm positive you'd be extremely hard pressed to find a map. Here, i can find one no problem. I could practically just walk into a map and start training even.

Who wants to train without nukes going off in the background?

No, that's not the case according to what I've heard from KMS players at least. Sure people train there, but focus is still on Skele MD.

Guess people are too lazy to do the 999 quests.

You would expect as a game develops and matures for ITS own goals and precidents to take root and expand.
Before when 2nd job was the only thing available, it could be said that the overall goal was to get there. And indeed it was for the most part. Of course you could kill a boss, have the most money, most fame, best equipments and all, but what was the game's goal? It might be more obvious now with 4th job, multiple major bosses, new areas meant to help level 2nd and 3rd jobbers up.
Its to increase the overall gaming experience of the masses. Do not forget that even though Nexon is lame, it is still doing the proper thing in releasing content for this level range, because, low and behold. I'd wager that a large majority of the gamers on the servers are between level 40 and 80.
I do agree that more high level places need to be introduced into the game. I can also understand people complaining about Exp tables being changed. But realistically, the game can't stay the same. If you didn't have a dynamically changing beast, it would be dead in a few years. Gaining levels is the goal for the vast majority of players, and increasing the rate of gaining will of course lead Nexon to gain further profits by people needing Pets and Shops to sell goods.
What this means is that we, the players can enjoy a smoother ride to 200. Those near the top of course will gripe about the fact that they worked hard to get there. Sadly, I agree that this game, nor any game should force you to "work" at any level to increase level and position. Its almost makes you look insane to the outside world, massacring Yetis daily expecting yourself to level. I mean, break it down to sheer math.
If you need 10,000,000 Exp to level up, and you can kill something that gives you around 1,200 Exp, that's roughly 8,334 monsters you have to kill. Even if you can kill roughly 10 per minute, that's 833.4 minutes you need. Or 14 hours... And I'm sure that that Exp level is low for what you'd be getting when you're killing 1,200 Exp monsters.
We all have to be partly mad to get as far as we have. I mean, I'm nearly 22, a senior in college and I started playing when I was a Frosh. Granted, an eight month break, but generally. Yikes. I'd have at least 2-3 Lv. 80's on WoW by now.
Maple Exp Tables aren't even compariable. I can't think of another MMO that makes you die at your computer for a level.

I don't understand your logic at all.
You want new stuff to come out, making all the old training grounds completely useless? You want KS wars like the ones at Windraiders at 2x?
At least across-the-board changes don't make 90% of the game obselete. And you think that the casual gamer will actually find out anything by themselves, or work harder? They just go to the new training spot and spam their skills there, same as has happened every time something better comes out. If anything, new training spots have often dumbed down the Maple experience. Consider standing on the SUV at MP3, spamming Heal. Easier than running a max tele route at Wraiths every 20 seconds, eh? Heck, even H/Voodoos was easier than Wraiths, and I got 3hko'ed at H/Voodoos when they came out! Consider Windraiders. Heck of a lot easier than MDTs, wouldn't you say? Himes isn't completely easy, but it requires less strategy than Gobies, for sure.
As for me, I love the curve. I never thought I'd make it this far. If only Nexon would deflate the cost of MW20 and Gen30 somehow... And no, I'm not going to whinge about how "it's Maple on easy mode" or "they're getting rid of the last challenges in this game" if Gen30 is 100m, because that's fucking ridiculous already for my main attack skill. If I want a challenge, I'll get good equips or merchant or something, not struggle just to get to 4th job, or to get my main attack skills. Similarly, I'm not going to whinge about the EXP curve letting me get better EXP at 13x that I got at 6x back at Wraiths, because playing at 13x is more fun than playing at 6x. I can go boss now. I can help my friends with quests. That's what this game is about to me...
Call me "casual" if you wish. Maybe I am. Far be it from me to suggest a game should actually be fun.

tl;dr this entire gay thread you are all retarded EXP curve is for casual scrubs who belong in private servers, normal curve is for people that understand that the big levels (150+) shouldn't be handed to you like they are now

Wrong, Greg.
Level 150+ being handed like candy was because of Bishop/AM leeching and 4x EXP. The EXP curve didn't automatically give the scrubs more levels; they still need to work for it. If Mana Bulls, Ginseng Roots, and Ginger Ales were doubled/tripled in price, bye bye to selling leech.
BAM. Problem solved. Selling leech will still exist, but no one will be thrilled at the idea of buying leech for 30-40m an hour. For anyone that says they will level via boss leeching, God knows that buying Anego and BF leech is a total waste of time because how can you guarantee there will be an Anego or BF available? You can train just as fast or faster without gambling your day away.

Don't punish the entire class for something not all of them do. Keep the exp curve, the damage has been done. It doesn't matter either way, really.

b(itch ass leechers never get past 15x~16x anyway unless they have some dickless boyfriend who fantasizes over his girlfriend's flat chest with every second he spends spamming gen for her. Hell, people that have trained from 120-150 during this EXP curve event will never want to train again after they see their 4% an hour on 1x.

One thing to note is Maple Story will ALWAYS get easier and easier to level as time passes. From Beta, to Official gMS with Ossy, to third job, to Ludi and so forth.
As for this exp curve bit, if they do decide to keep it, they'll be pulling a jMS and helping rid of one of Maple Story's most popular criticism towards casual players: the length it takes to get a level. I've played many other MMOs in my time including Trickster, Lunia, 2moons, et cetera. None of them were even half as difficult to level as Maple Story was. (Difficult, repetitive/bland, same thing.)
tl;dr: Too bad.

This here is the truth. I myself can't imagine a game with a whackier grind than Maplestory, unless you count Lineage II. I heard TERRIBLE tales about that game in terms of a grind fest.
Unless you include some hardcore mode when creating your character or hard core mode bosses, I too don't see Maplestory getting harder, but rather easier.

Translation: Heh... 10 hours a week? You're pathetic. You make me sick. You call yourself a mapler? More like a snail, ya slug. Get outta here.
This is so ignorant. Casual =/= lazy. Private servers are for lazy people who only want instant gratification. Casual players want to eventually be able to experience everything without devoting their lives to the game, but there is still a LOT of work involved even with the experience curve. Spending hundreds of hours playing, even if it's just spamming a skill, isn't being handed anything. What you're saying is that once we get some real end game content (black magician stuff) that only those who have invested every waking moment in maple should be allowed to experience that content.
Thanks for your smug elitist attitude though.

As a now casual gamer, Nexon would have to lower the exp by another 50% to get me to train agian on my Marksman. The 360mill exp I need at lv 171 to level will take me 60+ hours...and thats not slacking, thats full grinding for each hour.
Maple has never been and still isnt a game for the casual gamer.
