The infamous Skele DC.
#61
I'd think by now it would be obvious that it's not one skill or the other. Nor is it an event, or lie detector, etc.

I'm thinking it's one of 4 things:
1. Server-sided crap.
2. I.P. related.
3. Hardware conflicting with the application.
4. Software (Not an OS.) that conflicts with ms.

I don't think it's an OS because Vista has more problems than any other of this generation, and people are doing fine with it, while others aren't with XP or another OS.

We could try seeing the I.P. first. I live in Texas and have never dced, where as my gf who lives in the Netherlands dc's often.

Maybe we can find out what the cause might be by comparing information, and looking for discrepancies and matches among those that do/do not dc.

It's not the ISP, as people, myself included have d/cd on one account while another they have logged in does not. Also other services such as Messenger do not disconnect from the internet either.

Zpyke may be on to something by specifying this as a regional issue. I don't know whether people are willing to divulge sensitive information as to where they live, but a general location (ie. SoCal, Norcal, Texas, New York) would probably at least try and see if its something to do with where you live. If a concentration of people live in one location vs. another that do dc, specifications in that region would be needed afterwards (ie. SoCal => Fullerton)

If it's too complicated, then don't bother, but other factors might be video card, memory, or ISP. Class and skills used when dcing also pinpoint a problem with Nexon.

If anyone played Tespia3, this is the same DC glitch where just screen freezes for 1 second, then it shifts really fast to a part of the map, then you dc. I forgot the exact reason, but I think it was client/server side stuff.

Or at least, I'm pretty sure it's something related to how Tespia3 worked. That DC is exactly the same right now as it was then.

I've been getting this problem too and it's driving me nuts, especially when I have a family 2x buff on. >:
Usually it isn't even a lag for me. Like a previous poster said, I just jump and I automatically DC without a prior warning, or if I cast bliz.

Yeah..It seemed like the AR DC for a bit, but I guess not. When you disconnect, the map like..the screen breaks. Like everything just shifts to the bottom left corner, similar to AR Dcing. No idea how it activates, but I usually get it when I'm lagging, so I do this:

I'm usually on lowest qual, so when the pre-DC lag starts, I immediately go to highest qual. It makes the lag go away and replaces it with high-qual lag. Then I go to 2nd lowest/highest quality (depends on preference, I go 2nd lowest) and just train like that.

It works for me, I'm not sure about anyone else. Just trying to offer a solution here.

got hit again today twice, first about an hour into the 2x, the second about 2 mins after the first. I noticed that I was jumping during both of the dcs

I've been disconnected there 5 times now (its not my internet), I think it has something to do with client <=> server (mis)communication related to damage taken / damage dealt / drops dropping.

I know one of the times, I -JUST- got disconnected when something dropped (blue mage overall). It can't be a coincidence that it has something to do with that, because droprate is about 1 item per 2 hours at skelegons for me... When I got back there, the item was there to pickup btw....

It kinda reminds me of the Goby DC glitch 2 years ago... But that was related to meso guard afaik, this is not...
