Gen 5 rumor mill thread

Also, if there would be a new region, it would be either north of Kanto or south-west of Johto. I hope south-west of Johto, seeing as we've already been to a bit of that area before (route 47 and 48). Hoenn could even be the second region. And I want more route 47 style music.

I hope that there will be more new Pokémon, and not just (pre-)evolutions of older ones.

I want the new gadget to have a phone, but that the VS.seeker is also there. Rematches by phone suck if you want to train.
One of the main problems I had in Soul Silver was that right before the Elite 4, the only good Pokémon to train on are Rock or Ground types(and other random things you find at Victory Road). Of course there's still Pokémon at earlier routes, but those won't get you past a certain point. So I'd like to see good training spots for every attack type for certain levels (spots for Lv.20~30 Pokémon, 40~50, and maybe other levels too).

Pokegear = fancy cellphone.
Pokenav = fancy PDA
Poketch = fancy watch
...iuno, what else could they use?

Johto was always a lower-leveled region, even in G/S/C iirc.
though, Plat and Emerald had the right idea for training.

with the location of the region, and where itd be...
need that map where the 4 game locations are laid out on the map of japan to figure that one out.

It wasn't really about the lower levels, but more about the fact that some of my Pokémon had nothing to train on. My Murkrow gained about 60% of the experience my Pikachu got simply because Pikachu could train in Victory Road while Murkrow had to fight the much lower exp Pokémon (Raticate, Doduo, Ponyta) at route 26.

Err, I don't know, fancy portable DVD player? Or something like the TV you had in FireRed/LeafGreen but different.

According to a map I saw (forgot where I saw it though) theres room left between Hoenn and Johto, and Sinnoh and Kanto. And since we've had all but Hoenn in gen 4 I think we might go near there again in gen 5.

Seems like either north of Johto/Kanto or south of Hoenn/Sinnoh, although the Sinjoh Ruins and Faraway Island make it odd. Tongue

Or it could just be a completely new area...

Hm, I'm not too sure what to expect really, there's still plenty they could do- and when I brought this up before, I was only thinking of "It would be cool if...".

It'll probably be the Hiroshima region and Shikoku, or the Sendai region.

 Probably fake

I really like the idea of HM removal. Half the time I end up having to go back to town for the crappy Pokemon I taught a bad HM to, just because I don't want to use up a move slot on one of my main Pokemon.

And how about a pure flying type Pokemon?!

They're quite obviously fake.

The sprites are way too detailed/use too many colors, there are way too many Pokemon in general (and new Pokemon, for that matter), too many ripoffs (see: the "new" Regis), Zorua/Zoroark aren't legendaries, and there are WAYYYYYYY too many babies/final evolutions.

so fake. Not a single new pokemon that isnt a rripoff, baby/3rd, or part of a 3 stge evolution.

also, according to legend, there are only 3 regis, and there are no pure flying pokemon

the confirmed arent legendaries, way too many, and just... no

I'm just going to explore my first post even more.
There should be 200ish pokes. 50 evos from previous gens, and the rest all new with pokes with new typing.
 Spoiler
Maximum 5 baby pokes.
Should ther be 4th Evos then it should only be for like starter pokes, under special conditions.
Pokegear, Pokewatch, Pokenav, PokeBook?(or something like that, a netbook look alike thing) Or the Pokepad Big Grin
Legendary trio based on noise ? o.0 (lol im bored)
Thundepeal(Peal of thunder)
Simmerva(simmering lava)
Splashfall(waterfall+ splash)
Tbh i dont know what the legendaries are based no because everything is covered.

I'm mainly talking about training before the Elite 4, and solo training, because a Lv.40 Pokémon can't defeat the Elite 4 for exp.

I hope they release the map(or a sketch?) of the map of the region soon.

One of the popular comments I've seen on this thread is "omg new evolutions for old Pogeys!!!1!1!" Then, I read comments like this when someone posts a rather plausible, albeit clearly fake, picture of potential new sprite evolutions/babies:

I'm sorry, but no. You can't want new evolutions/babies of any I-IV Pokemon and not want something like this. Would you like to create the new evolutions my friend? Let me put it this way: Generation IV was FILLED with a crap-ton new offshoot evolution Pokemon, like Electivir, Magmortar, Glaceon, Leafeon, etc. You claim that there are only three Regis according to legend, yet Regigigas is found in the eastern temple in Snowpoint City. And what did that do to the game? I've never seen so many people hate on a generation of Pokemon before. Too many were upset with all they tried to fit in, saying they really pushed the bar with Gen IV adding so many random new evolutions to old Pokemon lines that hadn't seen a change since Gen I or II. While the idea of new evolutions for old Pokemon is neat and brings back nostalgia for veteran players, if the execution is carried out poorly (like seen above, and like Gen IV, IMO, was pretty damn close to), then the new generation fails to live up to its expectations of showcasing the individuality of whatever new region the Pokemon are found. You want all these new Pokemon evolutions for old lines, but don't want to see this many, as shown above? Please. The above picture is an excellent metaphor for what the generation V Pokemon will be, and if you can't handle that, don't be shouting so euphorically for new evolutions for the old.

I like this post as a good example of balance:

However, I think 200+ Pokemon is way too much since no generation aside from the original 151 has added more than 150 Pokemon. And you want to add 200??? Hot damn. I think this generation will add ~100ish again, like the past THREE, giving us a grand total around 600 or a little above. I think having perhaps 15-25 new evolutions and a maximum of 3 new babies would be an adequate take on the old, but I do believe a new generation needs to add NEW Pokemon, evolution lines and type mixing like we've never seen before.

In the end, keep in mind that completely new Pokemon are not a bad thing, even if they appear strange or weird. Considering Pokemon are based off real world organisms, and scientists in the real world have only identified 1.8 million of the estimated 10-100 million species that exist, it makes sense that so many new species, and thus Pokemon, when translated into the video game world, can exist.

theres still no lion-based poke iirc.
im still all for two-three new eeveelutions, theres still some scenarios that could arise for it to have new evo's. with the last generation, they introduced area-specific evolution in magnezone, probopass, leafeon, and glaceon. while yes this is a good thing, its also a bad thing in that unless you have access to either the GTS, or can trade to D/P/Pt, you wont be able to get those 4 pokemon. then there was the introduction of gender-specific evolutions with frosslass and gallade for example. Gen 2 introduced time-based evolution with espeon/umbreon and gen 3 introduced weather-changing pokemon with groudon, kyorge, castform, and cherrim.

what could be added next is beyond me. id still like to see a castform for a sandstorm condition, which i always found odd. a flying/fighting type would be neat, seeing as with staraptor's introduction they have it learning close combat, a fighting-type move. Maybe have that pokemon be based off of say, an eagle, or a vulture. some of the pokemon from that sprite sheet were interesting. a grass/dragon starter is, well... hax, and the water/ice mixing starter was interesting. finally seeing a non-legendary elec/flying mix would be a well welcomed change; rock/fighting and fire/bug seemed a bit... gimmicky. Oxywaddle though, now i can entirely believe that one to be true, just because of how absurdly named the real LickiLicky is. Hitmondo, hitmonsumo? What would the first one be based off of? Lee = kicks, Chan = punch, Top = spinning, maybe capoera. Sumo = Hariyama, so bad idea there. but what would Hitmondo be based off of, ki? Thank you, we have medicham for that.

From that list though, im more impressed with the ghost/hybrid typings, the dragon/fire pokemon, even if it is just a rip-off of charmander's evolution line IMO, dragon/psychic for its obvious OP in s.atk, and some of the evolutions on existing pokes, like Laplantis, neobeat/neomise, and viperside. im let down on the lack of absol love, but those really stood out to me. if i were the guy who made these, id have sent those into nintendo for consideration more than any others, along with some of the original hybrid type mixings.

if what this new battle appearance shows, its that now you can see the entire backside of the pokemon instead of just a cropped view of it. i will say from the images from corocoro that i dont like how that city scene looks. its too dark and bleak for my tastes. already said this in the other thread, but my hopes are high to moderate for it, depending on how the pokemon move when sent out of their balls to battle, and if they have any animations for specific moves. ive seen people play with those animations turned off, and i have to ask whats wrong with them. some of the move animations are cool, and to forego them for speed? disgraceful.
