If 90% (then 80%, 70%, 60%, 50%, etc) scrolls add bigger boosts than current 10%/30% scrolls, the best way to scroll a godly weapon will now become: maker a level 100 weapon (or maybe a reverse weapon if you're feeling fiesty) throw 60s at it until it has 0 slots. Then throw these scrolls on it until it's +6 or +7 stars. That should be a lot easier and give better stats than a weapon with several 30%s on it and on it and +3-4 stars, and it feels too risky to use more such scrolls on an initially well-scrolled weapon. Or at least that's how I feel about it now, but I guess in the future 10% and to some extent 30% scrolls will become obsolete.

Which is exactly why it's a bad thing. Would you use a slot machine that took away your house after a few plays?
He already knows the boom rate is 100%. That's why he wants them to be less explosive.

I like how in Maplestory everything is luck based -_-
I preffer other upgrading systems like ragnarok for example
Really hard to get cards (0.01% chance, I got one BTW)
But the card works 100% and with very good bonuses like the one I got gives +700HP
Or wonderking, where Item upgrades things drop from monsters and you can use them to upgrade the weapon or armor by a certain number (1,2,3 or fail)
And I dont remember wich MMORPG used it, but you could upgrade your equipment with ores.
My point is, if maplestory wasnt that much about luck, it would be much better.
Thats why I dont like this new feature. Maple has been going downhill since Aran :l
I think that they will now release even more weapon coupons form cash shop(reverse weapons maybe) Thus making the loss of weapons "less tragic" while saying, "dont worry, you can get a reverse coupon from the CS"
I just like the magnyfier unless its not sold in pot shops

It just ups the limits on greatly scrolled stuff, and gives a second chance at failscrolling(What if you unluckily have it break? I say that seems pretty easy by 5 stars+. White scrolls+ 50%s/10%s swiftly curved around that very nicely. This? all or nothing. Being as its so easy to break past 5 can prove fatal to oh so many good weapons.). Answers in bold
to get 1 star on a weapon:90% success
2 stars: 72% success 28% break
3 stars: 50.4% success
4 stars: 30.24% success
5 stars: 15.12% success
6 stars 6.048% success
7 stars: 1.8144% success
8 stars: 0.36288% success
9 stars: 0.036288% success.
Say that again.

Well, you clearly said both scrolling and enhancing have its advantages. In fact, I don't see the complaining part now.
Everyone stronger? Ok, great. What's bad about that? Variety on stuff making it have something more to consider apart from weapon attack? I like that. Choosing between safety scrolling, but lower results, and failscrolling, with risky results? Same thing happened with 30% and 70% scrolls, considering well scrolled stuff can easily break too (Making it a madman's will to do this on a timeless, for example).
Am I really the only one who sees this as interesting?

And who knows how many swords were scrolled before those stats came up? It's not like it's hard to get new weapons/scrolls in Tespia... they come from NPCs.
I would be extremely surprised if anyone was getting +80 attack weapons on real servers. Like you say, look at the chance of success - 0.36% for the 8 star weapons... and individually they add random stats. Maybe that's the 1 in 1000 sword that gets godly - is that so different from a 0.1% droprate? As long as weapons are rare and hard to get (which they are, extremely so in MS) there are gonna be a wide range of stats on them, from clean to ridiculously godly.
These scrolls do not change existing items. So it's hard to see how this is "destroying" your items:f6: If you don't want to risk it, don't. I'm near level 140, and guess what none of my equips are chaos scrolled for attack. It's not stopping me from playing.

It's making things powerful up to the point it's not even good, it rewires the differences between classes. If this is good to happen, we definately need a higher damage cap; heros more or less will dominate paladins to the point it's not fair.

This is basically Nexon's "High level" patch?! I quit back in Feb, apparently there was gonna be a big high level patch in March, guess not.

I think that's not entirely true. I mean, probably, already existing stuff will probably have to be used with a magnifying glass, and after that, if it meets the requirement, be able to use the potential scrolls.

How can they force you to use scrolls on it. If you couldn't use un-magnifying glass'd equips, they'd better make them cost like 2k mesos each because every single player will need a few dozen of them before they can even train.
As far as I can tell, this adds 2 kinds of scrolls, pretty much separately
1) Item identification
You can put a scroll for "uniqueness" (let's call it) on your weapon. This puts it in "unidentified" state, which means it's Rare/Epic/Unique. Or maybe it breaks it.
You use the magnifying glass on it, it "identifies" it. This tells you which type of item it is, and gives a new section of bonus stats.
There's also that cash shop cube that resets the identification, so you can try again.
2) Star upgrades
You use the scroll. If it works, your item gains stats randomly and gains a star. If it fails, it breaks. These can be used on any equip. (literally any equip - it doesn't need to be rare, or identified, it doesn't need to be a Reverse weapon, no conditions at all.)
I don't see how either of these are required.

With the Adventurer balance patch, Pallies will be better and all will be well.
The classes that it *does* attempt to rewire, though, are the classes that have naturally lower weapon attack, namely NLs. I really don't think this will be a gamebreaking difference though.

I agree completely. Of course, a 150+ attack gun or knuckle would make both of us s'hit ourselves i'm sure.

OT: Well, this seems pretty awesome, but I'm thinking they're gonna need to raise the damage cap as Bomber said. There are are people that can hit the cap already, and with the new scrolls, all that attack is gonna be wasted.
