Opinions on Evan

Schrono Wrote:What would be better would be to make it so half the spells are cast by the dragon (at your command) and half the spells are cast by the character, and allow them to both attack simultaneously. Say the Evan casts flame wheel and while doing that the dragon uses earthquake.

That would be interesting, if it was done like that. Multi-casting sounds fun, and it seems very plausible in MS. Maybe have the actual character get charge up skills, while the dragon gets instant attack skills?

You know what this class should of had? Making the dragon turn into "magical armor". Kinda like a transformation. Then the mage AND the dragon would be attacking, not only the dragon. u could pretty much use all the attacks on the mage anyway, but this way it doesn't look like a boring summon/CS item. It would sorta be battle mount, but you could then transform or use the dragon to your liking.

That one attack where the dragon attacks like 4 times on a monster is a great attack that would kill with crits. That i think is a decent speed for their attacks bossing wise. Training needs to speed up a lot... I like they're animations tho + 1 nexon korea

They should have just turned it into a magician Corsair. Let you fight while mounted on the dragon with the slower and powerful attacks. Then have the faster but weaker ones of the mount.

Yes, MS has terrible mages. They're not so bad to start with, but they go down hill rapidly. Priests are way too heavily based around leeching off others. F/Ps often end up just Misting whole maps (which is retarded). I/Ls are quite fun until 4th job. 4th job is the killer of mages. It completely kills off any fun they were to play, which is a pity since I love Chain Lightning. I have a 130 I/L, and I can not stand to level it anymore. I HATE Blizzard (and its counterparts), but they lack the power and ability to train well enough without it. It's stupid. They're not good team players (besides Bishops, and even they're limited), which all mages totally should be.

The horrible mage classes of MS really stand out to me even more after playing DFO, which has some of, if not, the best mages I have ever played. I love all four of them. Great solo ability. Great team support. Great arsenal of skills and abilities. Flexible. Fun. Basically everything I've always wanted in mages (MMORPG wise; I love console mages, for the most part).

If you could turn into a dragon (Fire Drake, Ice Drake, Holy Dragon I guess, etc.) and then apply elemental powers to a basic set of dragon-skills, that would be awesome. Kinda a hybrid between a WK and a Mage. Plus mother effing dragons.

But I guess then nobody would buy NX for their Evan, and that's absolutely intolerable. Lol.
Oh my... Why didn't I even think of that... the NX-factor...

Yeah I think we have our final answer here why Evans are no Dragon Riders or Dragon Morphers. The (current) NX items don't show that way...

Well of course Nexon could make new ultra cool NX dragons / dragon gear... but I guess they chose to do it another way... :'(

Eragon isn't exactly some original idea.

"Chosen dragon owner"?
Finds dragon egg mysteriously in a forest?
Farm boy becomes dragon master and hero?
A blue dragon?

It's pretty much the same thing.
Goggleemoticon

EDIT: Oh shi- I read it as Eragon is the same original idea. My bad. Tongue1

It looks boring to me too, because Dark Fog has a one minute cooldown time, and there aren't much lightning/poison based skills. It's just another fire mage over again. I want the class with neutral, ice, fire, lightning, AND poison based attacks, not just fire. Plus, make the casting speed faster.

I guess Fire Wands and Staves are going to rise up prices even more. I mean we had Fire/Poison Mage and Blaze Wizard, but now this, like Earthquake, Fire Breath, Flame Wheel, and Blaze, which are all fire skills.

Earthquake is fire element...? How did Nexon figure that?
Earthquake. ._.

Like Devil said, change the skills so the later ones don't make the earlier obsolete.

But in general, speed up their skills (and on a side note, work on that hit frame issue of skills not affecting monsters occassionally). They finally got the firepower, aesthetics, and party support aspects correct with this class; make it so that damage output can compete at the single target level and is worthwhile for training at the mob level, and this class will be amazing.

BombsAway Wrote:I was really excited about this job but those attack speeds are such a huge turn off.

This. Take it from anyone who has ever played a Magician past Lv. 120 before, the Evan class is a godsend in that it fixes almost every issue the ArchMage classes have, but the cast speeds ruin it as a whole. They're the Achilles Heel of the entire design.

Cyanne Wrote:If you look at the spell attacks of each skill, they are ridiculously strong, so they should be slow. kMST people just haven't maxed the skills yet for reasons like not having done quests or not passing mastery books.

Ultimate powers ranging from 570 up to Dark Fog's 750 are ridiculously strong and should be slow, and are - except for Genesis, ultimate cast speeds get slower as you increase the attack power, from a 3 second ArchMage cast speed to a one-minute Dark Fog speed. But an ~3 cast speed for Flame Wheel, a skill with a little over half the firepower of an ArchMage ultimate? Even with critical hit abilities and MageZerk it's not enough to keep such a skill that slow. Not to mention the fact that Magicians still can't single target DPS well, so if you're going to put a time cap on the Evan ultimate you should make sure it can compete at the bossing and training levels with it's single target and mobbing skills. Not waste elaborate animation time on monsters that will have moved out of your range, as Sarah said.

Earthquake. ._.

Actually, it makes sense. The earth splits and magma raises from the ground to hit the monsters.

FrozNlite Wrote:Not waste elaborate animation time on monsters that will have moved out of your range, as Sarah said.

Don't monsters get hit by the attack the second you press the skill button? As in, if they're in your range, and you press the button, the game registers them as "hit" and so they take damage even if they walk away.

WUT! Hothead

Cycling is what makes training interesting. How boring it would be to stand in one spot and attack! Maybe that's why you don't like your IL, but if you're a FP, you move around a lot, even with meteor.

On topic, I don't see why Evan attacks shouldn't be slow. Elquines, Ifrit, Hawk, Eagle, and whatever summons in this game are ALL slow. The only difference with Evan's summon is that you can control what it does rather than have it attack randomly.

Difference being that Elquines, Ifrit, Hawk and Eagle are all meant to be support, where with Evan's the Dragon is your main. Having the dragon attacking slow is like it taking forever to swing a sword for a hero.

You forgot Bahamut. Bahamut is a support and a good-LOL of a summon. It's not too powerful at the earlier levels, and it can aggro mobs really.. really... easily.

Or like using your summons to attack while you stand there in place. Lets see how fast anyone levels with that.

Khoi Wrote:You forgot Bahamut. Bahamut is a support and a good-LOL of a summon. It's not too powerful at the earlier levels, and it can aggro mobs really.. really... easily.

But it's not usually used as a main attacking skill. Bishops can attack while their Bahamut is helping them. The human can't attack while the dragon is attacking.

Ugh, don't remind me Khoi. Accidentally summoning Ifrit (and I've got him maxed...) at Skeles while training makes life infinitely more difficult.

But yeah, Spidey's example is much better than the sword one. Having slow skills that do moderate - high damage still doesn't compare to having fast skills with low - moderate damage, because unless you're killing more faster thus equaling more exp gained.

Taking your statement one step further, you could say that the only attacks that are reasonable are attacks like hurricane and triple throw, which hits many times a second, because they're faster than a hero's swings by about the same ratio as a hero's swings compared to an evan's speed. We all know that's not true.

Hitting slowly on an Evan could work if the dragon OHKO's everything it's hitting (which it eventually will, seeing that everything is super-buffed up).

At the moment, Evans don't interest me very much. With Pirates, Aran, and even CK a bit, it made me go OMG^%3! I wanna play that, but with Evan all the skills just look clunky, slow, and awkward to play :|

Doesn't mean I'm not going to try one though. The damage itself I'm not going to judge yet.
