I was stacking up on some INT equipment in KMS, when I saw some Evan videos on Youtube.
I dont think they do "outstanding" damage, and they seem to have a really slow casting speed compared to other mages.
Should I make one?

Unless they speed up I seriously doubt that they'll be any better than arch mages, probably worse. Skills are either weak single target, slow mob attack, or LOL CHARGE-UP attack.
Not worth it if you're a whore for damage, only to get the glasses I guess.
IF YOU LIKE DRAGONS, THOUGH, ASSBAG.

Personally, I like it better that it isn't that a great class in terms of damage, etc. It's a more Adventurer-esque class in that sense, not overpowered like Cygnus and Arans are.
So yes, make one. Just to join the bandwagon like everyone else.

It's looking to be more of a side project because of the skill speeds. I'll probably stick to my F/P.

I dont think a melee magician is a good mix, I saw some videos and it looks terrible. It could have just been the people playing but it looked really slow and watching the dragon attack got annoying fast.

doesnt make it any good since you cant have a viper following you 24/7.

It's way too slow for my tastes. If you like dragons go for it, but they don't seem all that good.

Speed infusion doesn't effect casting speeds. (I'm assuming since Evan is a mage after all it has a cast speed for skills )

Evans ok, I think aran is more intresting [without actually playing either of the classes] overall though.

agree. Evan doesnt have the WOW! factor, unlike Aran. They should make Evan able to cast while walking on 2nd job, able to cast a combination of 2 skills on 3rd job (eg : while casting flame wheel, you use thunder bolt), and able to cast a combination of 3 skills on 4th job. This could help increase their DPS.

Evans were supposed to be an improved version of mages.
But they're worse than default ones.
Your skill has almost 3 seconds of casting time... Which is ridiculously dangerous at training.
And even buying everything again due to their separate storage? My opinion? No, don't do it.

How Nexon should alter the Evan class to my opinion:
- Make the dragon really FLY, instead of the current "My buddy DJ effect", which looks really plain retarded...
- Remove the illusion the player itself is casting all the skills by himself. The player only should go into "alert" stance, instead of swinging any wand / staff.
- Make the attacks faster
- Make all skills more equal (every skill (from tier1 till tier10) has like 20~50 base attack, except for ultimates), and add a passive buff skill where you can BOOST your "base-base attack":\
-- Tier1 = +50base attack to all skills
-- Tier5 = +90base attack to all skills
-- Tier10 = +150 base attack to all skills
---- This to prevent from early skills becoming mere useless and weak...
- And last: MAKE THE PLAYER RIDE THE DRAGON FFS (like corsair battleship), that would be ORIGINAL... AND NO, NOT WITH MONSTER RIDER DRAGONS... -.-

Early skills are supposed to become weak in comparision to the endgame skills, you're not supposed to magic bolt horntail to death. This makes raising endgame skills worthless, why do it if your first job skills do the same damage?

Implying dragon riding is original? Seriously? There are a million and 1 games where you ride dragons, and you even gave another example of riding an object as your main style thats already in maplestory!

Well, they do ride their dragons as mounts. It's not the same as a sair ship, but it's something, I guess.
I agree that Evans don't feel like a "new" class. Arans have the combo system, and skills that make it "feel" like a new warrior. Meanwhile, Evan has nothing new really. The Dragon is like having a pet, or having the "Buddy DJ" weapon.
I'll still probably try it, since I enjoy mages. Maybe you were just expecting too much when you hoped they'd bring something new to the game for every legendary class.

But Evans are different. They lose their skills too fast, because they "evolve". When they "evolve" and gain new skills, their old skills become obsolete faster than other classes. It'd certainly make the class seem a little different if it had a whole arsenal of useful elemental skills.

I agree that swinging looks better than standing there as an idiot in alert, but there's more ways they could have done dragon casting than just copy and pasting pre-existing sprites and have the dragon do the casting animation.

I think Evan is a nice concept, but it stil needs a lot of work (although I say this about pretty much everything).
The "commanding" should be done before the dragon attacks, instead of during. Also, just having your character make a movement which makes it look like it's saying "ATTACK!!!" or something like that looks much better than a swing.
The skills should be faster, everyone can see that. Earthquake and the like take way too long to be actually usefull. Blaze, Earthquake and Flame Wheel seem decent, but Blaze has a Chain Lightning like effect(which means it's only good on smaller mobs) and Flame Wheel and Earthquake are really slow.
I think the skills shouldn't be spread out like this, because right when you are halfway with 1 skill you already get one that completely defeats the purpose of using the other one. It does seem that every stage has 1 or 2 "must have" skills which should be maxed first, after which you put the remaining SP in a skill that isn't as important, or, if possible, you save the SP to put them into something more "usefull".
