And um. First child will be named Kevin if it's a boy, Athena if it's a girl.

I love the name Athena. Why not Artemis for a boy?

Because Artemis sounds like the name of someone who would get beat up everyday at school for having a wussy name. My fiance is Kevin Jr. so he wants his firstborn son to be Kevin III.

Because Athena > Agatha. And I'm not a Pokenerd.

Athena's a lovely name. As far as "Kevin" goes, are you satisfied with it or did you have other ideas for a boy's name? I understand lineage and legacy is important to many people, but I think compromises could be made. My dad had wanted to name me Joseph after my grandfather; after discussing it with my mom, he settled on keeping Joseph for my middle name.

That's not to say Kevin isn't a good name, though; I like it. I just always thought having two of the same names in the immediate family could be confusing, though mebbe pet names solve it.

How do you think I feel? I have the exact same name as my dad. ;-;

Thanks for putting a lot of thought into my name, parents.

I'd rather have a hick name than be named after a raging pimento. Count your blessings.

Same, first and middle... : (

I like the middle name, though.

By the way, Athena rocks, Throws!

Kevin is a wonderful name. Poast

In his family, he's called "Junior" or "Junior-boy" and dad is called "Big Kevin" (freakin' Hawaiians.) We plan on calling our kid Trey. Plus, he's gonna have about three or four middle names (again, freakin' Hawaiians) so if he doesn't like Trey I'm sure we can call him by one of those.

LOL, being from Hawaii, I know exactly what you mean about the whole "Junior Boy" and "Junior" nick names or shall I say "Junyah" (how they usually pronounce it).

[COLOR="Red"]Throws, if you're feeling lonely or something while he's gone, you could try using Cisco's Telepresence. I tried it once with my friend...it's really cool. If that's not an option or hard to set up, you could always use Skype.

The odds of him getting hurt are only going to come on an aircraft carrier if he's stuck in the middle of the ocean. Unless he's flying over Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran with a red, white, and blue 747, he should be fine.

If he's colorblind, he's not gonna be piloting. There are plenty of safe positions in the Air Force, regardless.

like providence said, and the joke goes among the airforce that 98% of airmen shoot paper and fly a desk, so its all good.

[COLOR="Red"]Oh...my bad. I must have missed the colorblind being mentioned. Stunned

Even so, Cisco's thing is fun, and probably the closest you're going to get to sitting next to someone. Shine

It's the CHAIR FORCE!! rawrrrr!! J/K.. StunnedStunnedStunnedStunnedI have friends that got married when they were in the military (Marines, Navy). It's NOT that easy as some may think. Especially when you're living on base housing (there's a waiting list sometimes). Some places you can't go with your husband etc.. it's just stressful sometimes... Wherever they decide to send you guys is where you have to go, no matter what..There are benefits to it and there's also costs. Benefits: Health insurance, family insurance, they pay for his schooling IF he decides to go get his degree in something(but then you gotta pay back Uncle Sam later) Costs: Not really knowing where you're going to be depending on what branch you're in. Being shipped out w/o a moments notice.. if you're not in school, you'll be bored out of your mind sitting at home waiting for him to get home. What is he going in there for anyways? Like what does he want to take up?

i work on a military base (not in the military though) i've mad a lot of great military friends and it sucks every time they get stationed somewhere else. at least your boyf isn't in the navy, they go out to sea often, sometimes as long as 6 months, maybe more. the hardest part will probably be boot camp, i don't think they're allowed to leave or talk on the phone. i think the only form of contact you can have is by mail. also, military people get a certain amount of vacation days each month and they will always be off on weekends and holidays.

This is actually wrong. Depending on what job you're doing, you may be working shift rotation on a 24 hour position, meaning somebody will ALWAYS be there. You also don't get paid extra for working more than a 40 hour work week or for working during holidays. I personally have worked quite a few weekends (am working right now) and holidays as well.
