Corsair Skill Build Discussion

Anyone find anything wrong with my build?

Any changes that could improve it?

Heh I'm fine without the knockback. Recoil Shot is pretty good at creating distance, plus we have a few skills that are close range.

I would probably switch Bullseye and Rapid Fire around for bossing purposes. I haven't done the calculations but I think Bullseye + Cannon + Burst Fire would yield better overall DPS than just Cannon and Rapid Fire.

Ya I didn't know which one I should do 1st. I guess that makes sense.

Bullseye takes less SP to max and i can't imagine it being hard to get a book for it either. Unlike rapid fire...

First off, after timing and timing, I've found that cannon consistently shoots faster than burst fire, but we'll save that argument for later.

Max Bullseye first:
Cannon : 88 shots x 380% x 4 hits x 1.2 Bullseye = 175,104
Burst Fire : 88 shots x 210% x 3 hits x 1.2 Bullseye = 66,528
Rapid Fire(10) : 500 x 120% x 1.2 Bullseye = 72,000
30sp to max cannon, 20 sp to max bullseye leaves 10 points to add to rapid

Max Rapid Fire first:
Cannon : 88 shots x 380% x 4 hits = 145,920
Rapid Fire : 500 shots x 160% = 80,000

Cannon fires the same as triple throw. O_O I got 99 shots per minute on my illegitimate corsair.

According to LazyBui, Cannon is 690 ms without speed infusion.

Few questions.

Does Cannon consume bullets? If not, has anyone considered if the damage is calculated without bullets?

I think my build will be something like this at this point:

(maxed Flamethrower in 3rd job)
1 point in Air Strike, Support Octo, Elem Boost, Battleship, Torpedo
Cannon
Bullseye
Rapid Fire
Torpedo
(some Air Strike)
Elem Boost
Air Strike
Support Octo
MW
Hypnotize

This is the basic order I'm planning to max everything, though the points will probably be mixed around depending on skillbooks and boredom. I don't really care about party buffs, so MW is dead last, not counting Hypnotize, which doesn't seem to do much at all.

For mobbing, FT+IS+Torpedo until dead or until right before the monsters unfreeze seems like the best way to go. Since FT is both faster than Torpedo and does a lot more damage (factoring in the burn), I think it's worth throwing Elemental Boost in right after Torpedo to speed up mobbing a little bit. Not to mention it leaves your mobbing options open when your ship is broken.

I really want to throw Air Strike in before some of the other skills, but the whole Cannon/Torpedo/Bullseye/Rapid Fire/Amp is too important D:

Sooooooo I didn't read your post because it was so long, Rolleyes But seriously, no one mentioned that in this thread. I don't even think one has been seen. Or at the very least mentioned on a forum.

None of us know how to get it.

I've killed a few Bigfoots. In a way it's easy to avoid but pretty tricky. Recoil can either go over him, or you can get hit a wraith/stomp/elderwraith to recoil past him.

As far as attacking: there's a certain point where Cannon will actually keep him away, and a point where after KB he will move a few steps toward you. Being close/pinned to the wall/close to KB point every third attack will miss. There's also a point where he will be too far but still attackable, and every 1/2 hits will register. Keeping him pinned to the wall is hard due to wraiths pushing you close/away from him, breaking the pinning.

Sorry for my disorganized thoughts, but it's all I know. Corsairs are great with a party, but I suppose every other class is too, isn't it? I haven't tried rapid fire on him, so maybe that makes a difference.

My build is:

EB, WoO, AS 1
BS, BC, BT 1
Cannon maxed
AH 1, Rapid 20

After Rapid, I'm unsure what to go with. I will probably do Torpedo, and then Homing, but I'm still up in the air about the whole thing. Torpedo has a lot more use, but Cannon kills monsters so fast as it is, will Torpedo make that large of a difference? Rapid's a really fun skill, but not too useful.
