Corsair Skill Build Discussion
#1
I figured I'd make a thread for it since Buccaneers have one here. I've provided an early 4th job build in my guide, which I believe should be the cookie cutter. The main problem is deciding what to max after Cannon.

I'm currently level 121 and I probably won't be level 131 for a while. However, I've been planning my build for quite some time. It's not set in stone and will probably change to accommodate newer training areas...if we ever get them.

 Spoiler

Any thoughts on my build? What are your skill builds going to be?

The other thread is supposed to be for both subclasses Tongue

'xcept the brawlers seem to have bullied out the slingers.

Boo I posted too late. Well, the inclusion of Corsairs was just edited in a few minutes ago.

Gratz on corsair from me and kazoo. xD

I don't see the point in making it one thread. Too cluttered, and the other thread seems mainly to accomodate the TS' desire to finish his 4th job guide than to compile a complete list of possible build routes anyway. Not that zach wouldn't ever do that though.

Thanks Tongue

Yeah that's mainly why I made this thread. Plus I don't know many other Gunslingers/Corsairs so this is really the only way I can get some good advice/opinions.

I was the start of Sligners being bullied out. F4 Brawlers are bullies.

Here's what I posted, with updates, after I was pointed out of the cooldown times and such for Battleship.

 Spoiler

There are many things I might change around for my build.

Still have to worry about the rareness of skill books and stuff, and I'm having second thoughts on a couple.

Possible Changes-
Might get Bullseye before Rapidfire
Might get 21 Torpedo at first, then later on max it.

MW can't ever beat bullseye in damage increase.

Fixed. To be fair, though, that's what was asked.

So far, none of the Corsair books seem too hard to get, besides Rapid Fire 30 which drops from Sharks. It should become more common once we get that Leviathan boss. I also haven't seen Elemental Boost 30 anywhere. Does it even exist? :f6:

Everything else is pretty okay. I'd recommend rapid fire after canon though, at least some to beat out burst fire. My ship breaks only a few times in an hr at 13x taking middle platform. I rarely use torpedo as I dont have the mobs.

Guardians is okay but it's sometimes annoying to set up the party and such. Soloing sucks there i'm pretty sure.

I have to test it myself, but my brother tried to pin BF with canon and rapid fire and both didn't do it but instead BF pinned him, so it won't work for us, but i wanna test it myself before recommending to not try BF

After canon, i got 5 rapid and now maxing bullseye since this is my bosser. After that i plan to get 20 rapid, 30 if i can, then max mw. So far i haven't found a time to use torpedo at skele party as canon gets the job done. Once those skills are all maxed, which is prolly 162 or something iirc, i'll prolly max out elemental boost or get to 20. After that, just do whatever since really, canon, ice splitter, burst/rapid fire, and torpedo are all what's needed to train, from top priority to lowest of the 4.

Gunslingers have a decent time trying to pin stuff. I don't think they end up pinning, they end up shooting enough to keep them in a single spot. At least until you have to pot/buff/kill other monsters in the way.

Hmm I'll probably get some Rapid Fire before Torpedo then. Maybe just level 5 so it's better than Burst Fire.

I had no trouble not having Torpedo at level 120. What I did was use Torpedo on the bottom right to kill off the 3 newties, then demount to use Burst Fire to kill the Nest Golem. This method made it really easy to keep my ship alive.

I also doubt that a Corsair can pin Bigfoot. It seems that only ranged class that can pin it is a NL, and maybe a Bowmaster with skillful use of Puppet.

I still think Torpedo would be good to have. Maxed is better than Cannon on 2 or more monsters and level 21 is better than Cannon on 3 or more monsters. I guess if you're taking the middle platform in skeles you wouldn't find that many mobs, but anywhere else it should be mobby enough to use Torpedo.

Triple fire is still better than rapid at level 5, because you're not literally throwing all your sets out the window every couple minutes. The damage % difference isn't that big still anyway if i remember correctly.

They can pin it fairly well if there were no monsters around. If he gets too close you can just recoil over him anyway. (like NLs do) Or let him step on you for a few damage and use the invincibility frames to recoil away.

Good point about Rapid Fire. That and Burst Fire allows for more mobility. I guess I could postpone it a bit.

Bullseye should remove the issue of having monsters around. Hmm, maybe Corsairs can kill it quite well. We'll have to wait for a high level Corsair to attempt it. I don't think letting Bigfoot step on you is a good idea...he does more than a "few" damage. xD

Oh right, bullseye. xD Good thing for cannon not having minimum range then. :O

Try suiciding at BF sometime. xD If you aggro him he runs right up to you and jumps on the ground in front of you for like 1-10 damage. Cool

Bowmasters can pin Bigfoot without Puppet....

Really? I guess my friend's Hurricane is still too low leveled because Bigfoot has managed to break free from the corner and trample us without Puppet. Frown

I wish guns had knockback, or we had some kind of knockback skills ourselves. Frown

Anyone find anything wrong with my build?

Any changes that could improve it?
