Stay in your bubble, Corn, stay in it.
The outside is a horrible place where no insider should ever step foot.

Japan has been in somewhat of a social/political pomegranatehole for a while, the tsunami was just like pouring a bag of salt over a very big wound. They need to find a way to get themselves together. The way I put the tsunami, as bad as it was, was that hopefully it can unite them as a country, much as huge disasters do to any country. Look for the good in the situation, no matter how grievous.

Whichever one gets you take the blinders off to the good and bad in most situations and places.

I think the people who hopelessly defend Japan while trashing America and LIVE in America are worse than the people who are just retardedly ignorant and overly patriotic.

It might not be in specifics, but I know the idea of it DOES exist, I have met people.

This. Every place is bad, in it's own special way. Some more than others, some in different ways than each other.

Defend them in what sense? I'll be the first to say America honestly doesn't deserve to win any international sporting event(other than track and field that i can say off the top of my head) when they don't even put enough into the sports to begin with.

It's in what ways they're bad or good that dictate how you feel about them though.
Like I said, I've lived here my whole life and it's just not for me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm packing my swim trunks and Hawaiian shirt and heading to Denmark. Going to live it up on the coast there, and drink nothing but coconut milk, all while working on an insane tan.

Pretty much this. It's one thing I've always hated about American History classes. They only really care about SLAVERY and WARS. Everything else doesn't really matter. Just slaves and wars. Constantly re-introduced. And if that's not bad enough, English literature classes love making a bulk of their material revolving around slavery or racism. Because there exist no American classic novels that don't have these themes, or something.

Who says? Sports are sports. The best player(s) win, period. The people who deserve to win are the ones THAT WIN unless they cheated, no matter what country they're from.
What a stupid remark...

i always hated history, only reason we need a history teacher now to teach these idiots, is because an history teacher told them the story int he first place.

Residents tend to see the bad side more than the good side. Tourists tend to see the good side more than the bad side.
Travelers, seeing their country from the outside and other countries from the inside, get a better view of the world.
Go travel!

A tweet? He posted over 50 tweets, like one an hour, immediately following the Tsunami. It was extremely tasteless and offensive. And Aflack has big sales in Japan so they had NO recourse but to fire him.

I don't hate America, it's just stuff like this that makes me feel weird to know that people like that actually exist. Most of these radical opinions though don't come from the areas I've lived in, luckily, where extremists don't really just walk the streets and say these kind of things without any remorse.
But what Sarah said; it's mainly the history classes not providing the BIG picture and just the history/war aspect of the past relations we've had with countries and the parents who grew up/taught while growing up to NOT LIKE these people because they did ______. We still have KKK members walking around the south burning people and protesting blacks because they grew up without any knowledge except the fact that anybody who wasn't their skin tone deserves to be dead.
@Moonlapse - There's no doubting people like that exist, and most of them being middle-aged sure, do you think they are gonna raise their children (or better yet already have) if they have any, to be the OPPOSITE of them? No they're going to raise them to be just like them, and hate others that aren't like them. All of it is just too radical and ignorant and it has to make you think how scary it is to live in a country that has not just a few people like that here and there, but A LOT of people like that. (There's a lot at my school but they don't go around causing hate crimes, they are just overly racist and right wing to ever consider being morally secure)
