How would these work?
Would it be like Mazz mentioned?
(ex: Marksman only get Marksman books or would a Marksman get Corsair books?)
I wonder how you'd get MW from these books then...

Wow, that sounds completely off the wall. Not exactly gachapon, but they're equivalent systems. No 2x drop cards though.
Also no, your existing books will not be transformed into Secret Books.

Pigmy sucks.
Peanut Machine and Microwave are event only things, iirc.
Plus neither of them gave Mastery Books either, did they?

Not that I know of.
And yeah, anyone can get any book. Stupidly chose the Secret Mastery Book on my kMST Bishop during Mage Jump and got... Brave Slash 20 >.>

I'm hoping for increased drop rates where you have an equal chance of getting every book. Either way prices will not be the same all around. Should be interesting to see what Nexon does. Treasure monsters pls~

I'll have like 11 4th jobbers eventually... If I can't find the books for the one I'm currently leveling up, I'll just switch to whichever has more books available/doesn't need books so soon.
So, yeah, I think I like this system.

If NexonNA put their own piece of work making ALL MONSTERS drop mystery books, plus Pianus, Papulatus and Zakum dropping books again, the system wouldn't be so bad. but the way it stands now, it will be impossible to get any cheap books.

According to this thread, Maple Warrior 30 will cost the same as Ninja Ambush 30.
Yeah, keep dreaming.

There's no reason for the drop rate of secret mastery books to be higher than the drop rate today. If, say, Blue Kents drop a book once in 100k kills now, they will continue to do so. Only difference is, no BM in their right mind would go kill 100k Kents knowing that even if a book drops, it's 99.5% probabilty that it won't be SE20.
Monsters people actually train on, the ones in Haunted House, Singapore, and LHC, do not drop any books today and will therefore not drop Secret Mastery Books in the future (or so I have read). Some people spend a few levels at Captains or DGPS, but that's hardly enough to supply everyone's book needs.
Farming for your own books will become impossible. The only books in FM will be those farmed by botters.
As for prices, the supply might be the same for all, but the demand is very different. Every bandwagonned pally wants Blast 20, but nobody wants Monster Magnet 20. Good luck insisting on buying the first for the price of the second.
In short, unless the drop rate increases a lot, and the books drop from all mobs, getting all your skills is going to be a lot more frustrating and expensive than it is today.
Basically this. If they want this system to work they must get rid of party play areas. Or simply have bearwolves crokies and goelms and the future evree mobs drops the book.

I think there is an upside to secret mastery books, and that's making supply a nonissue. In the current system, if your book drops from something hideously untrainable, or not at all, supply of the book is seriously constrained or nonexistent in fm. With secret mastery books, people can at least farm the least annoying mastery book droppers. Demand effects will still mean the early-max skills of popular classes will be expensive, but at least there won't be any particular weird barely obtainables anymore. Assuming equal probabilities for all books from secret mastery books, the most common book in fm will be the least played class's last-max skill.

This thread is, as other people have stated, VERY inaccurate. In fact, I'd dare say that all we'd have to do is take this thread's predictions, give them a 180 and we'll be pretty accurate. This isn't even the way prices SHOULD go, as more valuable books should naturally be more expensive, even if the rate is the same. That being said, there is A LOT of misconception about this system, as some books are being given very outrageous prices.
Apparently, in Scania, MW 20 has inflated to 300 mill. Hurricane 20, 100 mill just a week ago is now 400+. Heck, I also saw some Stance 20's sold at 100 mill (previously 20 mill).
Hurricane 20, which drops from Buffoons and Gatekeepers (2 monsters that NO ONE hunts) should NOT be inflating based on this information, because the 1/195 chance is greater than the current chance to find one (I'd have to say there might be 3-4 for sale total in a week). So why would people be buying them at 400 mill now, when they should be in for a price drop in a week, when their supply will go up? I have no clue, but in my train of thought, I definitely had them going down with Chaos along with books like SE 20/30, Blast 20/30, Canon 20, Bow Expert 20/30, etc. (I'm basically throwing out books that I've been making profits buying and selling in the last week).

Except if you're farming mastery books for profit, you'll drop anything you can't sell right away, because it's a waste of 1 slot on your shop mule. And you'd need 190+ slots to keep 1 of every book in stock.

Supply is a non-issue?
People can farm? Unless by "people" you mean botters, that's completely wrong. You can go to the least annoying mobs, but if they drop a smb once in 10k kills, and each smb has about 0.5% chance to be the one you were looking for, you will need to kill, on average, 2 million of these "least annoying" mobs to get your book.
So for example, suppose you start farming at 105 on Captains, and stay there because it's a mini-dungeon where botters and ks'ers can't interfere. Captains give 1495 exp each, so 2m of them give almost 3b exp. You will be 150 long before you find that TT20 you needed at 123.
Also, regarding "most common book in FM" - wrong. People will just drop the less-valuable books. Just as, in the past, people would leave books lying on the floor at Zakum's Altar or Manon's Forest. Not because it's a useless skill of an unpopular class, but because it was so easy to find, and therefore cheap. People wouldn't waste inventory and shop space on a book worth less than 5m meso.

I think this idea is really bad, the whole mystery mastery book thing. However, if nexon were to make lhc and door to the future mobs drop books, and bosses like zak/pap drop books again, I definitely think that would make this issue of obtaining books a MUCH smaller problem. Not an original idea, even in this thread, but one I totally agree with.

About the people dropping books because they are not valuable: nexon should just make it so all books are MTSable, that way there is no worry in inventory or shop space and everyone can shop way easier.

This would be nice and helpful, but this is Nexon we are talking about. Who knows what player-screwing action they will take to try and increase profits.

Tell that to nexon who also decided that certain ranged weaponry was not available to MTS either...
Anyway, Secret mastery books are a blessing and a curse in that they grant a fair and equal supply of books (theoretically of course) but they also come at the cost of availability of certain books. The mastery books CAN increase the supply of extremely rare books (like assassinate, hurricane, etc.), but can also decrease the availability of extremely common books (or books that no one wants). Alternatively people can make guaranteed profit by just selling the mystery books themselves at a market "fair and overpriced" cost. Nexon basically made 4th job more money dependent than anything else in the game. Nexon also REALLY has to stop with the "OPEN THIS AND YOU CAN HAS A CHANCE TO GET SOMETHING!!!" It's repetitive and makes this game completely luck based.

Pretty much this. After Jump goes around and gets rid of Party Play zones while funneling everyone into PQs and Monster Park, they should also drop from those as well. As it is now, only the hackers really benefit from the current system, mystery books or not, because everyone and their mother trains at places like LHC.
(I wonder what is going to happen to mastery books that drop from CWKPQ and Masteria mobs though... Considering that Nexon was thorough enough to include a portal to Ardentville in NLC along with placing herbs/ores in the Phantom Forest areas, perhaps they'll go the full mile and alter the drops as well, along with doing something to Iruvata Boosters so that they'd still have a use after Chaos. Then again, this is Nexon we're talking about.)
