MapleStory's Future

street Wrote:How can you separate the NexonNA team? The other teams are made up of people from other games. Why hire new people when its better to have associates that can work on more than one game.

So then the Nexon employess just have split personalities? Have you seen how they handle hackers / exploits in DFO / Vindictus as opposed to MapleStory? A whole helluva lot better that's for sure.

Quote:Also how is the maple team money hungry again? Nx events? Cubes? Maple revolves around the cash shop that is how the game was designed sadly! To call the maple team money hungry is ignorant. As if they have a choice on the nx matters.

Since when has NexonNA had not had a choice? You do realize they've implemented CS items from other versions other than KMS, right? They do have a choice on what they want or don't want to add to the game and adding stuff from JMS, ThMS, and whatnot only proves that.

Perhaps I should clarify for the two of you.

They'll need to do something soon if they don't want their reputation to suffer even further.

See the entire genius that players don't see about nexon is the game refreshes every year. I'm serious, look at the original exploit with white scrolls. Back then, having a 150 attack spear was gamebreaking, never going to surpass that in x amount of years. Yet now it's an average (Between 130-150), the game get's bulkier, and eventually scar tissue gets over the cuts and bruises of past hacks.

Nexon doesn't have to put to much thought into it nowadays because they know the community isn't constant and not a lot of players stick around for more than 3 years at a time, because they tire of the hacks. But they'll be back in another year or so when the game hits another layer of power. The players that were once naive noob's, not understanding the fuss as it's "Their story" therefore won't effect them, then begin to understand the impacts as they have reached the levels their former "idols" left at. One of these years they're gonna have to stop relying on this recycling process, otherwise in 5 years this game will not be closed, but never be the same.

5!? more like 3. They are clearly running out of ideas.

If you read my post again you'll see I said "long term future" because it's pretty much obvious the game won't close any time soon.
I don't know if you're joking or what but that's hardly MS's future. Now that you mention level cap... I find it funny how all the kids that got stuck 5x-7x pre BB are now getting stuck 12x-13x.

As for the posts that mention Maple 2.0 is there any confirmation that there willl be a 2.0?
Haven't really cared about it since most threads I used to see about were lies, trolls, whatever.

Nexon said that it was in development about 2 years ago.

I really do believe they're better off just making Maple Story 2.0. I don't see any other way to salvage MS from its seemingly 'easiest game to hack evur' state aside from rebuilding it. If this wasn't the case, im sure they would have seriously gotten rid of certain hacks for good. Yet Event exploits pop up EVERY DOG-GONE TIME.a

Maple won't die, just get more and more expensive to be 'average' and alienate more and more players. (who end up finding out other F2P games don't need as much of an investment to be decent in.)

Also at the beginning of this year (or the end of the last) they mentioned that MS 2 would open closed beta by the end of this year.

And I hardly think maple will be overrun by hacks since once in awhile an update make the hacks outdated, also most of the hacks just bring more items into the game, the only big problem is when hackers start taking over training spots and of course the meso exploit, one is kind of seasonal while the other gets quickly (kinda) fixed.

But of course no matter what this kind of threads will never stop since their like the end of the world prophecies (remember may 21st?).

If Nexon can't stop or prevent people from hacking, the same issues that MS is current having will happen again in Maple version X.

Sad, but that's what I think might happen too. I hope not, though.

I wish MapleStory kept existing for at least 5 or 6 more years, but.. who knows what will happen?

Lately, I've noticed Nexon America has been putting less and less efforts in making this game a better place for everyone, and I really hope it isn't the beginning of the end of MapleStory.

Cannon Shooters are just the proof that they're running out of ideas, to me. It's been a while since I've seen some exciting and original content, and really, making another class which is like a branch of Adventurers can't be considered so, imo.

I don't know where to start...
I'll say this again: there are hacks, exploits and glitchs that are around since 4 or 5 years ago. Even if they patch them, they don't become "outdated" because people always find a way to use them again. I remember seeing summon nodelay hack years after it was supposedly patched.
How is it that bringing more items to the game is not a big problem? How are meso sellers and meso buyers not a big problem? In game economy and items in the market are a HUGE part of the game and it's impossible to say training and the market are completly unrelated.
Meso exploits are just a faster way of doing what hackers are doing right now, farming items and mesos for days.
As for hackers taking over training spots... that happened and happens already. It's just because of LHC that higher levels don't notice it that much but, in the end, they're still at other training spots.
As for your last statement I'd like you to link me to a similar or exact thread in this forum. It seems like you missed my point. I care about this game, I love this game, I love the friends I made while playing and it bothers me when hackers ruin stuff. I was asking for educated guesses on if there was a future or not for maplestory. I wasn't asking for end of maplestory prophecies.

Not true. If the client of a game, it's files, and hack prevention program with it are done properly you won't see hacks in a game. The game Nexon recently moved to their site Atlantica Online has been around for about 3 years, and the Korean version about 4 or 5. Not a single hack exists for any version of the game.

When I mean outdated is when theres kind of no use to then anymore but now thinking of it those that do get outdated are not the ones to worry about.
Also you can kind of separate the market from training (mostly since Big Bang), since people can play totally fine with almost never putting a foot inside the FM, meso sellers and buyers is something that is hard to get rid of almost every online game has it and the only thing that I could think of that would prevent it is nexon selling meso for money and that doesn't help a bit (unless that at the same time that make a darkhole meso sink).
I never said that there aren't any hackers taking training spots right now but that doesn't mean that it isn't seasonal, each time some crazy hack get realesed we get a bunch of hackers in training spots (mostly popular ones) but nexon eventually patch it and they have to go back to the normal hacking which takes time and so they end up having to hide.

And I didn't say that there was one right now (and since SP deletes unactive threads I doubt I can find any old one) but that every once in a while people post something saying that maple has it days counted, and I mentioned it since you can be sure that maple isn't going to end anytime soon, there are some games out there that have like double or more the years maple has (for example Ultima online).

Looking at how frequent these problems happen(exploits, crashing, all around chaos) Nexon needs to step their game up in terms of monitoring and security. Or else this would become a hackerscript kiddie haven.

I hope MapleStory doesn't die for a good 4years+. Yeah, its full of hackers (in my world at least half of the ranked players above me are hackers) but people still spend outrageous amounts of real money on NX, im pretty sure also maplestory is still nexons biggest source of income.

As for EMS through, i don't see it lasting longer than 1-2 year(the damage has just gone too far). Which is a shame. cause I used to love that version. But i also think the hacking situation will get a lot worse in both versions in the upcoming months(script kiddies off school for summer, with lots of new features from chaos will also bring lots of gaps / exploits / bugs). Hopefully that will force nexon into updating their security.

As for the mypth of MS2.0, If they do plan on releasing this i hope they do it properly. It's sorta sad already seeing maple in the state it's in now, i would hate for that to be a complete failure

note-sorry for crappy typin, tired.

That's a mighty bold claim you're making. It's almost impossible to make a game on the scale of Maple without having any exploitable vulnerabilities. Even well-made games can have trouble detecting botters or certain hacks on a limited scale (such as increased move speed or prevention of certain sources of damage). However, the frequency and scale of the hacking problem in Maple is just embarassing.

I don't get the bolded statement. I'm sure it isn't going to end anytime soon, I stated in the thread already. Was I not clear? Long term future= soon? o.o
And, yes I have to admit there are posts similar to this one but most of the time is just ranting/raging/QQing when the game is down to fix glitchs/exploits/whatever else or when there are extensions to server checks. I was expecting something completly different other than those nexon bashing posts from this thread. I also nevere stated the game has it days counted and you can see posts that are
completly different form "ms has it days counted", like these:

dante9898 Wrote:In my view, Ms is the game that gives nexon the most money since it isnt IP banned like the other games, and if things would have been approaching a Game breaking point they would resolve it almost instantly (See Meso Exploits, Enhacement Hacks, Etc). GMS Future does indeed look rather gloomy but i give like 7-10 years before they move on to MS 2.0 or other games, and thats saying much since a good game could last like 5-7 years tbh, because games always reach the point where they cant be improved anymore thx to base code limitations and what not, and the easiest solution for this is always to start with a new game (This is in my view but im no frigging expert).

The only botters that have existed in AO are ones who farm currency and sell it, and hacks are not used to do so. I've been around the international version of the game almost since it's start and not once has there ever been a hack inside the game. It may not be as large as MapleStory is, but it's definitely a very popular game, especially the Korean version. Every year there is a competition done by people around the world to win real life money. As I said, if the client, game files, and hack prevention program is done properly it's entirely possible to make a game that has nothing to exploit to create hacks, no matter its scale.
