What I'm doing here isn't being emo, though I will admit I've been to that extent in the past. What I'm doing here is promoting the firm hand of justice.

the irony of that is you're just being more mmo.

You are being over-dramatic about not finding a mate, mate. Get yourself out there. You're a fine young man, no homo.

Wait, what? When did I say that? I'm not interested in having a child -- that's all I stated.

Your kid would be a bully, anyway.

Though, I bet you'd be a good father. It's people like ShiKage who are unable to move on from their past and take good lessons from it to pass onto their children that shouldn't be having them. Ignorance may as well be hereditary.

What do you expect a kid to do? Take a beating and not say a word or not even flinch? The kids who are bullying the child won't learn a thing. They can make the kid cry, they can make the kid bleed... they won't give a flying f'uck and this is how it was for me my entire life. No matter who the bully it was, it was the same story. The only way to solve your problem is to take your fists and start swinging away.

YOU may have learned differently through your own actions, but that doesn't mean others will do the same. In fact, it's a 99% guarantee that others won't learn that what they're doing is wrong.

Teaching kids an eye for an eye is a bad thing. You should teach them to go to the right authorities (teachers, parents etc etc).

Things could get out of hand. Example, someone smashes your car, you don't go and find his car and smash it. You file a police report. If you were to smash out his windows, both of you will be treated as criminals.

I think you missed the part where that's all I did my entire life and it never solved anything. That sh'it never works.

For one, we don't live in the same world we did when you were a kid. Bullying intolerance is at an all time high so there ARE other options. Schools are being mandated to take action the moment they learn about this sort of thing and it's constantly being brought to light when they don't. Their jobs and livelihood are the line when they don't take action.

If a child is being bullied they need to be encouraged to tell an adult and then let the adults deal with it. If the parent of the bully doesn't take action then the law will. Parents need to be involved and support their kids in the RIGHT way, not by teaching them to go pound the pomegranate out of other people. Saying 'that's the way it's been done forever!' doesn't justify poor decision making.

But maybe you're right in that 99% won't get it, because you clearly don't.

I think you just didn't find the right people :O.

Though at kid's age, I think it is okay to teach them to stand up for themselves sort of give the bullys a "don't fk with me" message.

I love bully beat down Big Grin

And that's all I heard when I was going through school too.

"Bullies will not be tolerated!"

"Tell a teacher right away and the kids will be strictly punished!"

It's all lies and bullsh'it. The schools can't do anything but maybe put the kid in detention or send them to the counselor. The parents obviously don't do sh'it either, because the kids continue to do and get away with whatever they damn well please.

"Bully intolerance being at an all-time high" is just false propaganda to make parents feel better about having their kids go to school and to promote kids feeling safer as they wall down the hallways.

Hell, I know plenty of kids around where I live who bully the HELL out of kids and when I went to Ohio to visit my mother, my mom's boyfriend's daughter was a mean little bully. She was pure evil, but do you know what her dad did to her about it? He hugged her and treated her to ice cream. Holding my tongue was extremely hard to do, but I don't critique parents about how they treat their child, no matter how wrong it is.

NOTHING new is being done.

lol wow. Sorry to say peeps sarah's right. I didn't have many bullies when I grew up, maybe like 3 total, and all 3 of them ended up being my friends because, I learned to laugh and just joke around. There's only one I had to stand up too, but that didn't lead to a friendship just future bitter confrontations.

If you stand up to a bully, you do it verbally, you talk to them reasonably that's all I had to do. Bullies will simply respect the act if you talk back in a non-aggressive way. Then you just joke around with em and they end up being your friends. WORKED FOR ME@@

Video got taken down, but from what I understand the retaliation was wayyyy over the top and such? I got bullied quite a bit myself in middle school, and I agree with both sides. Violence isn't always the answer, but neither is strict talk. I got rid of my issue by swinging 2 or 3 fists. It wasn't a brutal beat down. I simply got the point across that I wasn't someone else's little rag doll, and that I wasn't going to keep putting up with the abuse.

All this garbage about talking back rarely does anything. Sometimes a fist is necessary. Granted that's not the case for adult situations, but for kids in school I find it completely normal. ESPECIALLY when the bully in question is being physical to begin with. Verbal abuse is one thing, but when the bully is throwing slaps or fists themself, I can guarantee you lecturing them or talking to them isn't going to do much of anything.

EDIT: People are reuploading it to youtube like nuts. Found one that wasn't taken down yet. Yeah, that's not really the kind of retaliation that anyone should say is "good" or necessary at all. Could have killed the kid. Punching him in the gut once probably would have made that little guy never bug him again.

That's funny, because when I was being bullied as a child, the authorities didn't do squat. In fact, my sixth grade teacher tried to justify my getting beat up by a group of many children. My parents ended up calling their parents after hearing about it from my sister, and guess what? Their parents did absolutely nothing.

I'm not saying that telling people is a wrong course of action, but expecting other people (including "authorities") to solve your problems just doesn't work.

What kind of genius kid is aware of his actions' consequences? The little guy is just as responsible for his own (hypothetical) death as the big guy is; they both directly caused it without intending to.

I agree with both sides here.

Overall its not the best thing to do. but seriously, not EVERY part of the country gives a pineapple enough so that 'telling an adult' will save the day. In high school, it did indeed work, we had very caring teachers, one confronted a student right in the hallway boldly when the way he was being talked to didn't sound right at all.

but in grammar school, i went to a pretty poor area, I got 'bullied' in 7th grade, parents talked for me, it worked for like a good few months. The jerks went back to it. Some DID in fact stop permanently because they realized they were going -too- far on account of their own moral value. These are the kind of bullies that are dealt with better according to Sarah's opinion.

But some DO NOT have that moral value and don't care, even with awareness of the harm they do. These are the people Shikage would be talking about.

I got into a real fight with one of those types in 8th grade, and it was AFTER that they decided to truly leave me alone. Not because they realized the damage they were doing; But because they learned messing with me would now cause SERIOUS trouble for them, by standing up back then I drew massive amounts of attention to the way they act, which is much worse than a private meeting between parents and a principal, which was how that school chose to handle things.

In addition, bullying someone you'll get into a fistfight with every time you try is a lot less appealing than someone who will take it quietly. Either way, they get in trouble. So they're gonna pick the one that won't show everyone around them how horrible they really are or cause the end results of cops grabbing them.

I did run into one of those bullies years later when i hit 18. I ended up learning through a ex-bully turned friend (one of the ones that responded to 'talking it over') now a mature adult, about 3 of the worst ones (the ones that would not respond to Sarah's method.)

One was being abused by his father. Another saw his dad killed right in front of him (gang involvement) and the last fell into drugs and... was no longer with us. I'll never forget that day, I had never thought before then those guys who bullied me went through worse than I had. Doesn't justify their actions, but it was an eye opener.

Seanny explains it the best here.

Humans are animals, and as such we can be classified just the same. There are different types of bullies, and the ones that -might- be able to realize the error of their ways and turn a new leaf may need different experiences to set them straight.

In America, you almost won't ever stop a physical bully through any civil, reasonable means. Most of the time they'll honestly not give a flying pineapple about you trying to talk to them, and getting any adults involved will almost guarantee they'll kick your ass even harder. We have a lot of poverty, a lot of pomegranatety home lives, etc, and none of that helps when it comes to how children will grow up behaving. (Ohai, overflowing jails and prisons)

It's really only with these past months that I'm starting to see -anything- about trying to prevent bullying on TV and whatever, and it's only begun now because pomegranate always gets out of hand here and people get murdered all over the place, or seriously injured, or just commit suicide and pomegranate.

Kid got exactly what was coming to him. High school bullies can't be reasoned with unless it's with the business end of a fist. People need to get the hell off this "education" way of trying to solve things. It is ineffective. As for telling a teacher, you may as well transfer schools after doing it because it's only going to make things worse. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly in denial and it's time to stop.
