They make millions of dollars every year.
They just announced that their revenue is up by 42%, yet we, their consumers, have not seen any changes from this.
It's damn ignorant to think that just because you don't personally have to pay, that someone doesn't.

besides what fiel said, the "cash shop incident" basically, they react to ANYTHING that has to do with their money almost inmediately, while nobody cares for the player.
Money>>>>Player
and it sucks, i remember that the line "cash items will NEVER benefit paying players ingame" or something of the sort was in when wizet was in charge, try finding that quote now, somewhere on the site.

On this note, I wondered why they took out 2x exp card. Those have to be their strongest selling point. Perhaps it's all in a grander scheme, to make people suffer and then both be on their good side and make tremendous profits off the reintroduction.

That is a possibility, but it is far more likely that the rights of MS would be sold off to a 3rd party for GMS, and it could be better or worse or maybe no different.
Anyway, most people just get frustrated because Nexon is incompetent and with every patch their incompetence sticks out like a sore thumb. Not to mention a lot of us are pretty pissed over some wrongful pomegranate they've done (like removing the elemental weapon bonuses).

spencer7x7 Wrote:It's a free game, most of them have terrible customer service. You can have the cake and eat it too. Yeah, I'm just going to add onto what other people have said and say that just because they tout their game as free to play doesn't mean their quality of service does not matter. This is a profit-making company. They charge tons of money for virtual products that cost them almost nothing to design and put into the game. Even if you're not directly paying for the game you're playing, you are supporting them by playing the game. When you buy things from the cash shop with NX you bought from other players, you're generating demand for NX. Nexon profits. And even if you don't buy any NX, playing the game means you are likely to get friends playing and keep friends playing. Some of those friends are going to buy NX. Nexon profits off this as well. In short, unless you never talk to anyone in-game and never buy anything, Nexon is making money off you in some manner.
If the player base likes the service that they get, they are more likely to keep playing the game, and to play other games that Nexon might host in the future. There's really no reason not to maintain a good relationship with the community.
At the risk of talking about WoW too much in recent posts, the very first ticket I logged with Blizzard when starting the game was with regard to some of my trial limitations not being lifted right after I activated my account. I submitted my details in-game, and I immediately got a message saying that my ticket was queued and would be handled in 24 hours. The next day, not more than 10 minutes after the 24 hour timer ended, I got in-game assistance from a GM about my problem. They were very nice, and fully answered my question. THAT is service, and that's how you make customers want to keep playing your game. With Nexon, you're more likely to receive a response a month after you submit a ticket, with some boilerplate about how they are looking into the issue, which is just plain infuriating.

...really? That's a balance decision. I'm not going to say whether it was a good or bad decision, but they are free to make those if they deem it necessary. That's not an example of poor service.

Yes really. People paid for the service, and they deserve to keep that service. Not honoring the fact that a service was paid for is no less than a scam.

Here's why i dissaprove of nexon.
I've played FREE TO PLAY Games with better GM presence, with quicker and smarter response to hacking incidents, with wiser compensation plans for what DOES happen.
I've played F2P games that DON'T have a faulty autoban system ruining the experience constantly for various players. Nor have they let massive account breachings occur without some sort of rollback. (don't tell me the flood of tickets around the fall/winter of 09'-10' wasn't a hint enough that something was WRONG.)
I've played F2P games run in NA that can offer permanent fashion items, provide free to play players with a limited shop ability or auction house feature, and provide class or skill point FULL resets without a rediculous price attached nor a 'hot time' gimmick attached: and HAVE NOT gone belly-up from the imagined 'profit loss' either. Nor have they had to use sleight of hand in the wording of an event's details, alluding people to believe an event for everyone would benefit everyone when that really was not the case. (Referring to that black friday milestone crap of course.)
After moving on to other F2Ps and giving them a try. I know its possible for Nexon to run this game much better. and since maple makes several times MORE than these other F2P games, there's no excuse even in the face of the higher playerbase.
That said, there's things Nexon does right, and there's a lot it has improved in. One of the things i've noticed and liked a lot is the server check maintenances and such that provide clearer explanation as to whats going on in said maintenance as well as generally improved communication compared to years back. Not hindering any of Big Bang's changes for the sake of profit was also a pleasant surprise.
but when other F2P companies are doing what nexon does right AND more with LESS money, Nexon doesn't deserve the trophy. Sorry to say.

The one thing I'm annoyed that is they don't want to release character, NPC and monster concept/official art. :[ And if they do, it will eventually disappear into obscurity in the internet. This makes me think they don't really care about people who do enjoy the art for the game :/ And the fact that they don't sell any merchandise for the game (some can only be won like in the contests they hold but that's all). I wonder why though...
Also, town lag is a real game killer for me (either it's the game or my connection but it only happens in town) :[

going on a blizzard tangent here, after playing SC, that kind of thing happens, balance isn't easy to get.
BUT THEN AGAIN, DB's, Mechanics, Arans when they came out, etc, are examples of bad balancing. and still several classes are, to better or worse.

Starcraft is a bit different. You arent specifically paying for the items (in fact, are there even items to buy in that game? I only play SC for the campaign). You only have to pay for the privledge to play.
Maple is different where they offer the privledge to play for free, but instead they charge for other things in the game.

Elemental weapon bonuses are not a service. Gachapon is a service. It lets you trade NX cash for in-game items. Elemental weapons are just in-game items with properties that they are free to modify. Even if you directly traded cash for the items, they should still be subject to balancing. Immutable items just makes balancing more awkward to achieve.
You always piss someone off by nerfing something they like, so it's not something you want to do too often, but to call the removal of the boosts a scam is a joke.

Nexon failed as a company. That has pretty much being proven. What kept them afloat however is the amount of cash their players spent. Without customers spending, they would've gone under already. So yes, they got the cake, but they dont even want to give any of it back to the hand that fed them. More GM presence helps. Where are they? Its not like they cant afford it. Then, there are all the bugs in game. Its not like they cant fix it. How about all the hackers? Strange that this environment encourages hacking because hackers hardly get punished. Yeah, you can go tell me about the weekly or monthly perma ban list, but it means too little too late.

This. I've been aware of it for a while and it irks me. It doesn't help that MS is technically their flagship title on top of this.

You do have to keep in mind that Nexon's other games are mostly direct ports of their Korean counterparts while MapleStory is an 8-year old giant with content pulled from all over the place and plenty of outdated relics left in the game. It's bound to be harder to run smoothly. It's also because they milk MapleStory so much that they don't need to charge as much for their other games.
Do their other teams actually respond to tickets and deal with exploits faster?

I have no problem with NEXON outside of a few things 0.o. Only things that irks me is the bad customer service and some of the most useless crap in game ever. I'm looking at you cake vs pie. Only other thing I "hate" about them is they refuse to give me WT and my Poseidion Armor . Other then that I have no other reason to complain. I don't get why half of the people in this thread hate NEXON so much, hate what they do with the game with this much passion and continue to play..

@ dusk, my brother had his char stuck on WoW, where he couldnt even log, we logged a ticket using another character, and a GM replied to it in less than 5 hours fixing his char.
HT been glitched for almost a year.
D/C hacks been working for almost 3 years.
someone is trying to make a PE for WoW, he found the send address and stuff, but when he try to send a packet, the client just crashes, and WoW dont even use hackshield, its the warden anti-hacking system.

The most screwed up thing about Nexon is how they have allowed many widely known and infamous hackers to torment players without punishment. I understand that they have a lot of stupid tickets from stupid people to filter through, but even Nexon has to realize that something isn't right when the same player gets reported by several hundred different players for the same pomegranate. Hackers do not bother hiding themselves, so identifying and banning them should not be this difficult.

Generally poor customer service, a lack of proper QC, far too effective marketing team, iffy communities, etc.
Yes, it is a free game and you are not required to pay therefor they aren't really obligated to provide customer service, but from a business standpoint you just don't do that. Obviously you can't make everyone happy all the time but dear god they could at least PRETEND to try.
Unless the company has completely changed in the three-ish years I've been away from the game and they suck for new reasons now.
