Super Mario Galaxy 2

LPC Challenge is actually way easier in SMG2 than SMG1, because the solid yellow platforms aren't those stupid flip / rotating ones.

Goddamnit. I'm gonna go play more Galaxy 2 now. *has yet to complete it*

Have fun with the 242nd star, when you get to it =P

Thread got me interested in this again so I worked a little on the remaining stars. At 223 right now, but I should get to 240 sometime tonight. Worked inwards from the earliest and latest stages so I hope nothing in world 4 or 5 that remain will throw off my grove. And someone said something about max bank? I have 8300 bits if that is what you mean.

45th try netted the final star for me. Of course I made a ton of stupid mistakes as I tried to rush it, and it was 6am MST when I finally beat it x_x

I was freaking determined, son!

53 here. I was in "blah" mode cause I was "breaking" the game all day and the day before that and the day before that. Yeah. If there was a "game completed in the shortest irl time" record, I would certainly be a contender.

What have you been wasting your starbits on son?

After starting it up again, noticed I had 180 stars. TIME TO GET CRACKIN'.

I think my favourite part of SMG is the 1hko runs.

Fiery Dino Pirhana. Uuurrrrrgh...

EDIT: Well that wasn't a Daredevil stage but that boss is still my most hated one in SMG1.

Wow, that is almost identical to how I/when I obtained the 242nd star in SMG2, myself.

I was so relieved when I obtained it, though, it was driving me crazy getting so close to it and then failing every time by just a SMALL mistake.

I wish I could put the game in and maybe replay some stars or even the entire game, but I lent it to my Uncle, along with the first SMG, about a month or so ago and he's still not finished.

I'm not entirely sure if this is sarcasm. Honestly, I think that I had too much for that point in the game due to deaths.

On that note, I finished the game tonight with 241 stars. When I first saw the extra level at the end I was kinda disappointed until I realized each "stage" loaded separately. I checked out getting the 9999 thing by dieing and repeating 6-1 Green 3 over and over. Didn't take long that way.

As for 242... not going there... not tonight anyway. While I don't generally use the stereotypical internet fads, that's deserving of a HAHAOHWOW.jpg. I mean, I suppose I can see myself beating it eventually, but it's just nowhere on the scale of the rest of the game.

With that said, got to 187 stars (not much from the 180 I started with, I know), I'm sleepy now. Will play more tomorrow. :X

Ironically enough, the star you mention was my final star by simple random choice. I finished the World S first to get the hell behind me then jumped 1-6-2-5-3-4 ending there.

Just wait for Green 2 of Bowser's last. Or either of the whomp cyclone ones. And to those who have specifically played 1, but not 2... yes that is the same whomp cyclone from the first one, just faster.

... I think the green stars had softened me up a little since the main 120 when I said that there weren't as many hell levels this time around. Come to think of it, there may be the same amount; but since there are so many more levels in SMG2 it was a fewer percentage. I guess with that my point still stands?

Side-stepping topic: So, if all of us are here able to discuss SMG1 and SMG2, why is it that we still don't have a Wii Friend Code Thread here at Southperry?

I ironically finished World S before any of the other galaxies. I hated Stone Cyclone so much, I just wanted to get that one over with first, then I just kept going because I'm OCD like that.

Whomp cyclone is hard at the start when you don't know what to do but after some time playing on this level it's pretty simple IMO. Even the comet was pretty easy.

That could be said for a lot of things. Part of the difficulty of that level (if you weren't super fresh from SMG1) was not knowing the exact patterns.

Funny thing about that galaxy. When I was trying to get the 1st Green Star, I didn't know how to get it, so I ended up backjumping onto the whomp and getting it. I never thought about the triple jump option at all.

This, except I only wound up failing at those attempts time and time again until I noticed triple jumping's necessity in other stages and went back and gave it a shot.
