Haha. Bleach.. yeeeeeah... okay. Silly little newb anime watchers. It's like how someone IRL told me that K-On! was the best thing ever. I don't think I laughed harder in my life. My lungs actually started to hurt from laughing and being a plantain.

Like most Shounens it's worth watching the big fights animated, beyond that the rest is pointless and better read.

LIES! K-ON IS THE SH IT!!
Hmm. I don't like Bleach, Naruto OR One Piece. I got to episode 100 on Bleach then said pineapple it and ditched it. I watched random chunks of One Piece on TV, but the only episode I actually liked was Luffy VS Thunder God guy (because of the Thunder God's epic reaction).
Then again, I prefer Shoujo anime/manga so my opinions aren't representative of males...
...K-ON is still awesome though.

Make him watch Elfen Lied. 12 episodes long and it's simply amazing.
The ONLY anime series that have more than 100 episodes I enjoyed (well, I still do) are Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Samurai X. Pokemon too, up to Season... 4 or something, then I got sick of it, so I don't know if that counts.
It really depends on the person, I suppose... and what street says pretty much makes sense. The shows I listed were shows I had to actually wait the next day for, so I was usually on the edge of my seat at the end of every episode. I've tried giving Bleach and Naruto a chance and I simply can't stand them. :\

The reason why I like shows like this is because it gives me tons of material to watch. When I'm doing something like grinding for a few hours, I can find a TV series that has about 100 episodes, or watch a few movies, or watch something like one piece with what, 400+ episodes?
And at least in one piece, the way that the new enemies are defeated is interesting. Plus the idea that there's always stronger villains out there has always been an idea of the show, and in the past year or two has become a plot element.

This is kind of why I stopped watching anime after Dragon Ball. Everything is just the same, so I'd rather watch what I've already watched than watch the same thing under a different title.
You may like "Neon Genesis Evangelion," though. I remember seeing it on Adult Swim and it only has about 16 episodes and is f'ucked up beyond hell. I remember my friend telling me all about it in school and how mentally f'ucked up the show can make you.
Samurai Champloo is good, too. It's more of a non-serious show. It was on Adult Swim for some time. It was one of the few Adult Swim shows I actually enjoyed. Not to metion, a VERY great artist, who past away this year, did most, if not all, of the music in the series.

If you are watching Bleach, skip fillers :/
EDIT:
I don't think there's any anime better than Death Note

Avoidant Wrote:I know this guy -- I've known him since middle school -- and for a year he was like "yo man you GOTTA try Bleach," so I gave it a shot. Roughly fifty episodes. And after the first main arc, I was bored out of my shitting mind, goddamn. So I checked the episode list, and there are hundreds of episodes. Hundreds. How can this even happen? How can things not be resolved by now? Mother of god. I told my friend about it, and he goes "oh, after episode 100 it gets better." Episode fucking 100. I asked him if he enjoyed any shorter shows. Another friend of his, who happened to be with us at the time, chuckled and said that "anything with less than 30 episodes isn't worth watching." Then he suggested watching One Piece, and some slice of life series revolving around young girls who go to school. Except it isn't Azumanga Daioh. BUT I DIGRESS.
How can you enjoy this? It just goes on and on with no end in sight, and it doesn't even matter when the main character gets stronger, because there's always some new villain who is "just too strong" for everyone, until the protagonist pulls a win out of his ass again and you flip your pomegranate like it's never happened before. I suppose I can understand the nostalgia factor for some shows, but I simply cannot understand the hubub about these 500 episode cartoons that follow the same goddamned pattern. I'd rather watch a show that ends before it gets stale, but that's just me.
pomegranate, and here I am giving One Piece a shot because it actually looks interesting, and of course it's over 400 goddamned episodes. And it still isn't done. That guy still hasn't gotten his treasure. 400 goddamned episodes.
Alright to give you a perspective, bleach, naruto, and One piece are all terrific animes with great underlining stories. However bleach has started to dissapoint me. Now what I like about Naruto/One piece is it's not like those cliche "We'll meet again one day!" and never happens. Such as Pokemon, the stories actually end up tieing together (One piece being much more elaborate).
Also in these anime's, too the main story there are tiers and they stick to them. Anime's like DBZ/Gundam they always went stronger, stronger stronger. Naruto actually shows progression and work. It doesn't just come naturally too him and the people around him grow too. Shippuden is much more into foreshadowing then the original naruto. But once again, as people have said, it's good too stick with the anime storyline, rather than the subplots that randomly are added in to give them more time to animate the actual series.
Also, for omi, you think evangelion was bad? Haha what Pu-ssy pomegranate. Go watch Deadmans wonderland and tell me you aren't f-ucked up. Ill find this other manga that I couldn't even finish because it was like, even more fucked up (the guy turns into a swirl or something?) that's all I remember from that pomegranate. Japs are fucked up!
But yeah best anime I have ever seen is FLCL, code geass was good too. I finally caught up to one piece, and I feel like the new saga were getting into will make the previous look like pomegranate.

Ah. Deadman Wonderland. I went on a manga reading marathon with that one. That manga's completely screwed up; blood and gore all over the place, severed heads, psychopaths running loose...
I only have 2 words to describe DMW. Bloody hell.
NOTHING can get bloodier or darker than DMW. NOTHING.

Yeah there is, an anime about it LOL. Supposedly being released next year hopefully. Have you kept up with it? I want to know how it ends..though the last one released, with the "recent event" made my heart sink..
