Yup. It also turns yellow (and heals you from what I'm aware) after you successfully complete the PQ and drop the orb at the end.

Nexon proved something with the visitor patch.

Also I know this isn't completely related since you're talking about dynamic weather, but a cool thing to note is that in very early MapleStory beta, there was always snow Video:

Have the weather triggered by the item give you a buff which lasts say 10 seconds every 10 seconds so you only get the buff for 10 seconds max if you leave, like an underwater or an El Nath map.

Or have the entire system's time status cycle through different weather effects every 6 hours depending on Central Standard Time. Rain/snow could last for about 3 hours on the system clock, then it cycles though to another weather condition. Seasons also could play a factor in this, say if your playing in the spring/fall: You might have a 40% chance to witness rain/sunshine, or a 15% chance of a lightning storm , and a 5% chance to witness snow. Dawn/Afternoon/Dusk/Nightfall could occure every 6 hours, so it leaves flexability even for the people who play in different parts of the world.

Same buff kind, affected to the whole map. Attach that kind of buff to the effect, and you have all settled. A pair of tweaks needed, but the base is already there.

I'd like to see something like, depending on the weather in a city, like LA since it's Nexon's HQ, it rains/snows. Maps with effects like these already, like Elin, would be unaffected, along with any areas that the weather shouldn't change (like Nihal desert)

When you try to create speculation (like every single thread you've ever made), at least do it right, and make it realistic to the game. Not like this. A system this complex would invoke a lot of effort to create the system, for something that is purely cosmetic. Alloy Wrote:What about auras? Same buff kind, affected to the whole map. Faked video/10 ___ Case and point: It is possible, but almost anything is possible in this game. Is it going to happen anytime soon? Well, that's for nexon to decide. There is a lot more useful things they can do before this. There's nothing that hints it's going to come anytime soon. Just another thread of random speculation by random_overlord. Please, next time, there's a fiction forum for ideas, unless that maple expansion section was removed. Quite a few things would fit better there then here. A lot of what you post usually ends up with a futile attempt to make your e-peen bigger by forcing your ideas onto everyone else.

It happened when stage 2 just started. That video is unedited. The backgrounds just switched to a darker version such that it wouldn't require new images in the client. It looks like 50% black overlay or something.

The map itself could have a buff trigger, that affect people just like auras, that, like those, expire when the map is left/a new weather kicks in. And second, have a look at the text chat. Or have a look at the buffs. Or have a look at your own common sense: WHY WOULD ANYONE FAKE THAT.

Guess making weather changes more than just a asthetic/buff effect is pretty unreal.
It'd be pretty fun and neat if it did snow or rain, it could create some wet and slippery surfaces? Rain puddles or snow mounds in Henesys; then you can just skate around. Give players a snowball skill, then have a snowball fight? I'm probably thinking too much. :3

I guess I didn't see because I didn't want to see; because I have an innate and undying hate for most things random_overlord posts (extreme speculation, made from simple gaps of logic on nexon's part or easily explainable ). I can't help it. It wouldn't be as bad if he didn't have potentially huge gaps in logical of his speculations and didn't try and rub it in every so often. The level that he does it... it's more dreaming then speculating. I don't hate you, but it's more of a pet peeve that I can't stand.
@^, that's more unrealistic then anything else presented so far. That'd be fine in a game mirroring realism; but maple does not mirror that. @video, The title is the innacurate part looking back at it. It isn't weather. It's related to a dimmed image, either preset to change to that in the data or background dimming server sided. @alloy, last counter to you, this might or might not be me being a smartass, i'm not intending to be, but people will fake anything for fame or to troll. Look at what loose did today? ![]() TL;DR: Anything is possible with enough tweaking. Anything you can imagine can be done with enough work. But it does not mean whatever you say will happen. Just because it can be done does not mean it will be done. Nexon Korea has much more valuable things to do. Many more UIs are in need of being revamped still. Then actual content.

I knew for a long time that you can't apply logic and real world physics to MapleStory. But for events, they would need to be preset in the data and can't be modified during real time server time can it?
I am probably am thinking too much, but it's sometimes nice to see something different happening than the same thing everyday. Always fun to speculate I guess.

Oh go have a cry Erich, in any case when ever it gets darker it gets colder in my experiance. but on topic, i would love to see climate changes in maple - if they could get rid of the fade.

Sure, you can fake an image... Now fake a video, a sequence of images like that one from Loose, that have to fit perfectly one after the other, syncronized with the sound, frame duration... Yeah, people fake the most ridiculous things, but Loose was to have fun seeing people go NUTS. This video didn't have a purpose outside of it :p. Then again, it's all common sense.

Josh would not edit a video to fake something in-game. |
