Yet another exploit

Locked Wrote:Even then, it's still very slow. To the person saying they can have 10+ maples open botting, that's highly unlikely considering how much memory executing Maple takes and if your computer can handle it. It's not that big of a deal.

you underestimate things such as crazy multi where they can have 5+ maples open on just one user.

This is so closely related to how they are doing enhancements that it stings.

You underestimate how much memory the process takes.

200mb of memory is the highest I've seen it. I idle at 2 GB, so I could theoretically run 30 clients at once.

This is after logging in and doing a couple of the Alien quests. I've seen it go up to 800MB during boss runs....

See? Anyone with even a shi'tty computer can run 5 clients at once. My laptop is pretty piss-poor (I really can't play many games besides ones like MapleStory) and I was able to run ~8 p. server clients before it started to lag too bad to do anything.

My computer isn't "piss poor" and I can only run about 6 clients before I start getting it unplayable. Not all hacks are "multi-client compatible" since Hackshield will probably close your clients.

So it takes him 23 seconds to make 23,000 mesos. That's approximately 1,000 mesos per second, or 3,600,000 per hour. If he's doing it by hand, it's not worth it at all. If he has a bot going, it's marginally worth it, but overall, he'll probably be banned and will have wasted most of his time.

I doubt that you can have more than 3 clients open at once (I have a pretty good laptop and having only one client makes me overheat), so at most he'd be making 10 mil an hour.

In other words, you'd need many people working together to have an impact on the economy. Since I'm no longer a part of the hacking community, I don't know just how organized they are, or how many of them there are in the first place.

Sacrifices must be made!

But seriously, they just have to monitor Happyville and catch a bunch of these guys...

Oh how wrong you are. Theres a public window manager which(with a bypass) allows them to create as many instances of maple as their computer will hold, it also optimizes for less ram usage, and although you can't open more than you normally could hold, you will lag less. It also seems to support hack injection into every window.

Adding this to current exploits, it scares me just how much this seemingly small time glitch could flood the economy. I estimated 80-90 mil per day per person using a bot(which is also apparently public). That may not sound so bad, but I've heard of at least 6 of them in galicia(confirmed with tracking)

They could jsut disable all happyville NPCs or make it so anyone in happyville automatically gets booted to ellenia.

Some of you are late, Happyville is disabled you can't get there now after the SC even with a PE, if you are still in there you'll just get banned.

Wow, Nexon actually did something. Right.

So I guess anyone with mules has to wait till christmas to get out?

That's definitely a good trade off. Nexon finally put a stop to not just one, but many hacks with that, including the Enhancement exploit if I'm not mistaken.

You won't get banned if you're still in there....

What they did do is change what was needed to get there. Someone insanely lucky or very good could figure out the new packets to get in. But I'm sure they would have learnt the lesson and keep it to themselves to profit from it.

I hope they remember to come up with a more permanent solution before christmas comes rolling around.

If you're just standing there you "might" not get banned but I'm sure GMs are waiting to see if anyone gets in and tryings the exploits again so they get perm banned. Though, this is nexon and I hear people that were just afk in the main tone, came back and they were banned.

interesting.. when an exploit creates mesos from nothing, nexon jumps on it.
when an exploit creates severely limited numbers of essentially un-npcable items or wealth from nothing, nexon sits on their asses.

what does that say to the players? abuse the <enhancement exploit> <pink scrolls> <chaos htps> while you can, because while nexon will fix it eventually, there probably wont be repercussions and the more you do it, the luckier your <period of time> is.
