weeeeee Wrote:WRONG. Just because parts of the events are for NX users, that doesn't make the entire event for NX users. Even non NX users get a benefit out of this by having a flood of cheap new items before they become standard. Right now, i'm in this rainbow event, the Evan level up event, that other... event thingy with the medals... I don't even know what counts as an event to you people, but I'm swimming in what can easily be considered events, and they don't cost me a dime. The level 120 dragon equipment is very nicely priced for me, as well, considering the rush to create evans.
I'm honestly not seeing what's a bad choice here, because Nexon's "bad choices" have been helpful to those who paid for them. For the record, Nexon has acknowledged its one cash shop blunder when introducing the haunted house area and requiring a cash costume to enter, not realizing that what they thought was a novelty, was actually a pain in the ass for a few of its more audible customers. They haven't done that since.
Cheap?! Cheap?! Miwok artifacts? oh yes those rings are cheap.. Very cheap indeed. Because every Mapler has 400 million lying around. Agent equipment it self I would consider cheap and that was the last decent event I really participated in. I gave up on Evan due to the fact I have to pay to get alot of the skills. Why should I pay for what should readily be available?
I remember that costume bull crap, that was before the MTS and I hated that event the only thing that saved them was that for a week we all could actually have a chance in the mansion, sure maybe we couldn't access everything but at least there were the monsters, and the drops. Maybe Nexon haven't stuffed up as badly as that, but I certainly can't say they have pulled there fingers out of there arse and picked up there act. Sure they pull a couple of great events out of there arses every now and then, and then they go back to buy this and get this!
Nexon's wonderous solution to the cash shop only mastery books, Oh hey lets bring out Premium Cash shop boxes. Or roaring smegas to shake up your screen, because the original smegas didn't get your point across at all..
Have been helpful to those who have paid for them? So the people who get banned and spend hundreds of dollars on there account, to get banned by a glitch. The old Typhon map auto ban, what about CWK in general, it was an auto ban haven. Players got banned left, right, and centre even now not everywhere can be guaranteed as safe. Walking through new areas in themselves are a risk, you never know what stupid glitch you will come across.
What about how Nexon blame all the hackings that occurred on social engineering..
25 bucks for a horse, doesn't compare to being forced to buy a skill in a free2play game. I gave up on participating in events when they cost money. Nexon don't deserve the money we pay..

BZZT! Game over. Not reading ANY of that post because you brought up something that happened A YEAR AGO. Not only that, but those rings barely even DO anything. Old news. Beat it. Until I can be assured that the rest of that wall of text will have some meaning to the "past few months" I keep hearing about, I'm not reading a goddamn bit of that post. I'm quite willing to bet it's a bunch of bullshit that is entirely off topic. Don't say it if you're going to bring up crap that has nothing to do with it in response.

Haven't done that since?
Do you remember the event where you needed a cash shop ticket to enter the mini-dungeons for 5 minutes at a time?
Not only were the nx-less unable to participate in the event (you got one ticket free, that wasn't enough to collect enough drops for any prize), but the entire GMS population was unable to train in the mini-dungeons for the duration of the event. Yeah, that was a really smart move.

And? The prizes for that event were worthless (much like cash clothes) And after the event was over the dungeons themselves became free to use. People who paid money got the mini dungeons EARLY. Don't whine about it. If by chance the mini dungeons were free for a short period BEFORE the event, I would call that bad planning only. NOT that they are an EVIL COMPANY THAT THINKS ONLY OF MONEY (despite still being quite small for the kind of company they actually are)
Come to think of it, Those cash skill books that are in the cash shop are another example of giving the paying players something early. They aren't even important skills, so calm down. You can live with 5 points in them until they patch in the real skillbooks. They haven't even ironed out the bugs in pre-endgame skillbooks and you want everything handed to you on a silver platter. It's best they limit the number of people with these skills until they have their crap together.

Play a magician character with level 5 magic guard in any end game situation and say that again please. Evans are also already the weakest class with max Critical and Booster, are you really suggesting it isn't important?

Look at the rankings and see how far people have gotten in half a month >_>
No matter how you put it making skills like Magic Guard which is downright essential for a Magician character require something like that in ANY STAGE OF THE GAME is the kind of stuff we are referring too, x2 drop and exp cards giving unfair advantages to those who pay are what we are referring too, Gacha only items that aren't available anywhere else, and NX only events are what we are referring too when we express our dislike with Nexon's practices, who cares about a stupid horse? That gives no in game advantage what so ever, just like when we only had stuff like Cash clothes, no one cares about that crap, it isn't an unfair advantage. No one cares if you buy something to make your character look pretty or not~

IDIOT. People who play WoW ALREADY PAY FOR THE GAME. Why should they spend TWENTY FIVE dollars on something they might as well have been able to get in the game FOR FREE?
Nexon's games are FREE. Therefore they need GOOD REASONS FOR PEOPLE TO SPEND MONEY ON THE GAMES or they will make NO money. That means providing advantages to other players. It's not "unfair", because nothing is necessary. This argument is made over and over again and your stupid thick child minds never seem to understand, nobody ever needed double exp or drop. It's not unfair because it doesn't affect YOU in any way. Now if they start releasing damage boosters in the cash shop? THEN things get into the territory of unfair. Currently, they're providing items that give players who have money a good reason to spend it, in order not only to keep their game running, but to expand their small company into something like Nexon Korea. Do you not understand? I think you don't. If the only cash items that existed didn't provide any advantages, they'd NEVER make any money and the game would die just as fast as Audition did.
edit: might I also remind you that most of the people on the rankings used 2x to reach unreasonably high levels in only half a month. Gee willikers, I'm not sure how that makes it an issue with NON NX USERS

Never said they should nor do I agree with Blizzards step. The point is no one cares for a Pinappleing horse, its there money to spend, it doesn't allow the player to obtain faster levels then any other player, it doesn't allow the player to get some powerful ass item that free players have no access too, it doesn't allow players to enter some event where you HAVE to have a horse to participate. It doesn't bar players from getting esential skills if you don't have the stupid horse.
weeeeee Wrote:nobody ever needed double exp or drop.
Why are you putting words in my mouth? Of course you don't need it, the point is its an IN GAME ADVANTAGE THAT NEXON USES TO GET PROFIT. THAT IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE TO PLAYERS WHO HAVE NO MEANS OF GETTING NX. NX EVENTS AND ITEMS BEING ONLY AVAILABLE ARE WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN WE DISAGREE WITH NEXONS PRACTICES. "Greedy" is a stupid term to use, Companies need money, especially during a Recession like this, but there comes a point where it just isn't right by the players, especially when we were first promised NX would only be used for character make-over purposes. And in response your statement about kMS/Audition, Nexon Korea also did just fine without all this crap, and they have permanent cash shop items, and the last time I checked, the versions that do give this crap that gMS does has more population then kMS.
weeeeee Wrote:It doesn't affect you in anyway
This is an online game with players around the world playing, just like in real life, the actions of a few players can effect the whole server, even the whole game of gMS.

I gave this thread a serious response, but now I'm seeing that the OP is just a whiny biased idiot.
Just because a game is P2P already doesn't mean they're not allowed to charge for other bonuses, just that they have less incentive to.

Also lol at Dusk for calling me biased when you folks are of the nice FREE GAME PALS who have torch-and-pitchfork reactions to everything that makes a game "not free", which includes any method of making extra money on occasion. I'm sorry, I guess you just want nexon to be buried under the ground every time they try bringing another game under the nexon america lineup and fail to generate interest each time. I guess you want them to never have another game ever because they have to break even or it's evil.

As Dusk has stated before, it's an MMO company. Their entire mindset is to get as many players hooked and addicted as possible. That's how every single MMO out there makes money. I don't think it matters whether Nexon makes money by taking stuff that is literally required to play a certain class, or if Blizzard makes a unique horse for people to ride on that costs 25 dollars. I know friends that plays WoW, and they are pretty damn hooked.
Hell, my teachers plays this game, ffs. If they're making money, then they're making money. How they're making it is irrelevant.

Notice I'm not supporting either Nexon or Blizzard here. I'm not saying Blizzard is cool so it can get away with whatever it wants. I haven't posted anything particularly anti-Nexon in this thread, either.

That was my entire point to begin with. Too many people have the mind that nexon is corrupt and evil and shouldn't be making money or shouldn't be making money on items that provide an advantage and all this other pie-in-the-sky idealistic bullshit. What's worse? Someone that can only make money through extraneous items and does so effectively, or someone who slaps another texture on an existing model and charges you $25 for it on top of a subscription fee? I don't even want to hear about what company does what. It's the same for all games. Nexon America's idea of microtransactions is VERY common among MMOs. I don't care if they're permanent in Korea. That's not the way it is with every other game either. I don't want to hear that Nexon is an uncaring coprorate entity. That's every company, whether they make it obvious or not. I don't want to hear about customer support. Nobody truly pays for customer support. You pay to keep the employees paid and the servers running. How those employees make their paycheck varies wildly from region to region, company to company, game to game.
What we are talking about HERE, in THIS thread, is who is being sneakier about getting more money from you. If you still say it's Nexon, you are a tool. Last time I checked, Nexon didn't sell you pointless palette swaps for $25 or anything.

Personally, I find microtransactions to be a lot sneakier of a way of making money than your palette swap. It's the "no down payment" trap that lenders use all the time. Sure, Blizzard made a killing off a worthless item, but Nexon does it ALL THE TIME.

It's not that it was worthless. It's that it took literally 0 effort to create. Did you miss the first 400 times I explained exactly what the $25 item was?

No, I didn't. Did you think it takes a lot of effort to recolor and rename a 2d sprite and put it up for 5 dollars?

This discussion seems to be going around in circles.
weeeeee apparently believes that the worst possible example of corporate greed is taking advantage of player stupidity to sell useless items, that took no effort to create, for outrageous prices, on top of a monthly fee already paid.
Everyone else in this thread thinks providing gameplay advantage to paying players of a free-to-play game is much worse, especially when coupled with non-existent customer support.
Matter of opinion. USING CAPS and raining verbal abuse on each other won't convince anyone.

Woo! Had to get on this one. Let me start off, southperry is full of more mature, logical players here and therefore would like to keep the atmosphere at a higher than freshman in high school level. This isn't basilmarket, or sleepywood, full of ignorant trolls who could out dictionary your ass clear out of the water, so if you want a discussion, at least be tolerable and be able to handle critism.
As for your silly topic which has no grasp of why the general older player community claims nexon's corruptions. As dusk said, nexon bases their entire fondation on microtransactions that in some shape or form involve gambling, if it has to do something in game. That or its something you cant keep for more than 90 days. Unlike wow who charges $45 in 90 days, but also don't have game breaking items to purchase outside of the down payment, such as this silly horse you speak of. Yes we all understand nexon is a company, but for you to imply that nexon is trying to break even just shows how much research you've done on this topic, none. You can apologize for your ignorance on the subject later but nexon currently holds the largest profit in a recession of all time. I assume specifically in MMO's. But let's see if you can stop acting like a Johava's witness and look in our shoes a lil bit and hopefully have your head wrap around it.
As stated in my earlier paragraph, nexon is a comapny that makes a fairly large marginal profit. Nothing in the game is necessary, but nothing including the internet you're using to try to talk to players, or rather, shove down their throats with a condencending tone "I'm right, you're wrong!", is necessary except food, water and shelter. So that argument is pitiful and not very well thought out. Now to continue on this, would it kill nexon to make event items that are tradeable? Items accessable outside of gacha, obviously harder, but an option none the less? Maybe 2x events every weekend? Maybe 3 times a week? How about 2x cards that last for shorter period of times? It's all gone to the same centerpoint, nexon is inconsiderate of it's customers wants because hell why do they care they're making money! That is an attribute of greed, they aren't struggling. What about the dc hack thats been around for almost 2 years by this point? I could tell them how to fix it in less than 40 seconds.
Nexon's made it clear they care more about their cashshop than the game itself. Now you can sit here and argue blue in the face butbut they need to worry about making money!. Well sir, I'm sure nexon won't go bankrupt if they release permanent CS items more than once a year, to make ap resets cheaper, making alternatives to the 2x cards, and keeping the players that this game is intended for and keeping a free aspect of the game. Unfortunatly I don't know many 12-15 year old's with credit cards which nexon seems to care about. Hell lowering the value of nx in game would be a great asset too.
The only free about this game is making a character, pqing and training. Nexon didn't intend for someone to get to 200 without nx, hell to 150 without nx. To get to 199-200 on 1x would take 2 months at least. That maybe alright for you that it isnt a standard option, but I think anyone can safely agree that nexons profit is marginal enough for them to make some sacrfices to keep the players happy and as you stated in multiple forms, the players are generally not happy with the decisions.

So... wait. Weeee is making it sound like Blizzard forced everyone to pay $25 for the horse. You don't have to buy the horse, right? If not, then just chalk it up to customer stupidity. No matter the medium or the product, there will always be idiots with disposable income that will buy whatever you're selling. Hell, I'm sure we've all spent more than $25 on NX clothing in the last year of our maple playing, and those don't even last forever like that horse.
