Do you honestly still think Nexon is the greedy company stealing money from players?
#1
Blizzard fits the bill so much better, don't you think?

1. Reskin some pre-existing horse model.
2. Sell it for $25 as a CELESTIAL STEED OMG GUYS YOU MUST GET THIS
3. ????
4. Holy pomegranate PROFIT

How do Blizzard's employees feel about the whole thing? I imagine it goes something like...

Because that gives an actual in-game benefit that characters cannot live without.

What was the last event we had in maple that didnt require NX an gave somewhat decent rewards? The last major one I can think of was the Agent event, but we have has some "ok" ones (the 65% scrolls from Cygnus release, and the free NX items from Aran and Evan, though that isnt the same when not everyone will end up winning something). Also, the new Cash Shop Surprise, they raised the price from 500 each to 1400 each and they only took out the clothes, overall its worth it for some but still not totally worth it, specially since the pets expire in 1 month still. We also have these "Gacha Box" events that keep popping up, and the price has increased since those first came out as well, and the prizes have gotten worse. Nexon NA went and took the NX items and made them temporary, meaning you have to rebuy your clothes every 90 days when KMS has perma items. This is made worse by their lazy copy pasting of the Evan, Cygnus, and Aran cash shops, making it cut off, and requiring that you rebuy you expiring items AGAIN.

So, do I still think Nexon is worse? Damn Fucking straight I do.

You realize it's just a stupid horse, right? Gives no in-game benefit whatsoever. Nexon's piece of pomegranate cash shop items are quite literally game-breaking. So yes, I still HONESTLY think Nexon is a greedy shitty company stealing money from players. Also, Blizzard's customer support is nowhere near as horribly disgusting as Nexon's.

You're missing the point. Blizzard just made 2 million in a few hours because their players are retarded and bought a horse of a different color (lol)

It's not like blizzard actually put EFFORT into making the item. They didn't have to do much at all to put that in the game. Nothing genuinely new was made.

And honestly? Let's pretend that this horse was a pet. PRETEND. Don't even fight me on this. If My math hasn't totally failed me, you'd have to hold onto that damn thing playing the game for 3 years before you could say "alright, I got my money's worth here" in maplestory pet terms.

You also don't appear to realize that you have just given me support by telling me it's "just a stupid horse". Yes, it is a stupid horse. For $25. And you already pay for the game. A number of free to play games give mounts like that for cheaper (and just as permanent)

Is that horse crucial to one's gameplay? Are MapleStory's CashShop items?

Kalovale Wrote:Is that horse crucial to one's gameplay? Are MapleStory's CashShop items?
Neither are required to play the game. Having a shiny lazy reskinned mount or buying some useless cash shop clothes or some 2x exp (you want to level up really fast? SORRY, but that's not a necessity), gachapon, not necessary as long as most cash shop items are tradable...

I can go on and on, but Nexon's non-decorative cash shop items are for people who are dumb enough to think being ahead of everyone else is important

Blizzard's just got a dumb horse. For a whopping $25. That their idiot players will gladly throw down money for like their life depended on it. THAT is stealing the players' money. They can't put that pomegranate to use. It's purely cosmetic and it's not even original as far as the game's data is concerned.

That's ridiculous, but it's just a special bonus for those who want to purchase it. It in no way effects their experience or unbalances the game (unless it provides people with a 200% exp bonus???) I would never buy something silly like that but it's how people want to spend their money. It's no different than NX clothing; purely aesthetic. Nexon is continuously adding new items that give big advantages to NX users at what seems like a much smaller price but stacks up into ranges much higher than the $25 horse and $15 a month play-fee.

Besides that, Blizzard does an admirable job running their game. Nexon is still the winner (loser) here.

I heard from my friends that they still get hacked, and there are still hackers. But their service at recovering and tracing account history is good. It took about a week for my friend to get all his stuff back.

So? Nexon's players are even more retarded, and spent hundreds(!) of dollars trying to get a Pink Bean pet whose in-game benefit is no better than the cheapest bunny pet. Nexon was much more devious than Blizzard: instead of having a fixed price tag on that thing, outrageous or not, it made it a gamble. You could spend $500 and not get it, or you could spend $10 and get 5 of them (which you could not use, nor give or sell to another player, or even put on your own other characters if they happened to be Cygnus Knights).

So yeah, Nexon outdoes Blizzard even in the absurdly-expensive-decorative-item department.

...Yet again, I don't need to remind you that at least Nexon's cash items have a use while remaining optional to the game. Having a use VS. being a piece of crap they slapped some new textures on? Who's trying to grab extra money from their customers? Nexon runs off of NX purchases to keep their multiple games running. Blizzard takes a fee for its one game and throws additional worthless crap to buy at their customers, hyping it up to be something it really isn't. I doubt Nexon makes $2,000,000 in even one day.

I fail to see the difference between that and this which, while essentially half the price, only lasts 90 days. You have to compare the horse to something worthless like clothing, because that's what the horse is. Objectively they're not different. Both a waste of money, neither are game breaking. Blizzard doesn't provide game breaking extras to it's players, Nexon does. Nexon is worse.

And you're right, Nexon wouldn't make $2,000,000 in a day because they spread out their money making schemes throughout the entire year rather than once every five years like this horse.

Quote:Freshly born from the Twisting Nether, the Celestial Steed flying mount lets you travel in style astride wings of pure elemental stardust. So saddle up, because this supernatural warhorse will fly as fast as your riding skill will take you, and it will travel at 310% speed if you have at least one other 310% mount.

Once activated, this World of Warcraft in-game mount key applies to all present and future characters on a single North American World of Warcraft license.

Pretty pineappleing sure that's what it really is.

You might as well be complaining about the boat loads of real-life WoW merchandise that Blizzard makes for how much this affects the actual game.
#14
so you're all basically just saying blizzard has the right to take money from you for what is essentially a halfassed alternate mount LOL TEXTURE SWAPPED HORSES but if nexon does it for less on a rental-ish system where if you decide you no longer want something you're not out $25, it's evil and dirty and thievery.

Thank you, have a nice day Smile

edit: for the record, a maplestory mount cover is $3.50 for 90 days. about 2 years of ownership, I believe. Just thought I'd put in a proper comparison.

double edit: IGNORING the cost of playing WoW, I might add.

triple edit: Doing a little math with what I read the six month subscription costs, that would be an added $311 if you were playing it for 2 years, I think? I have quite the successful set of maplestory accounts, and going by my time spent in the game, that would be about $780 if I had played WoW for 5 years instead. I haven't actually spent $780 in Maplestory yet, and I may never end up doing so.

Looks like Maplestory is cheaper for SENSIBLE PEOPLE who know the difference between when they NEED to spend money and when they WANT to spend money. I bought some gachapon a few times like one would enter the lottery. I bought some very useful pets. I bought that permanent cash item set. I can't say I put anywhere near even $500 into this game, and I've been having a fair time even without it. I have fought Nexon over an issue once and I won. Aside from one account getting hacked, which means nothing in the real world, there is nothing particularly bad about my time with nexon, but people want to continue to compare the worst examples of people instead of going for the game as a whole. Many more people play the game without a voice than those that publically discuss the game, so how is it fair that only you determine what is good or bad? Honestly, I can't see how you aren't pissed at the worthless cash grab blizzard pulled, but are angry that a company that hosts many free MMOs tries to get money with useful items for those that would want to have them.

To put things in perspective, Nexon America only runs a few games, and apparently cannot afford to keep up the less popular ones. Nexon Korea appears to have a ton of games, most of which must be making money at a constant rate from their players in order to remain FREE. Some do well enough to have sponsored events. Unless you happen to be in Nexon and have real information to back up this "greed" issue, you're not thinking far enough into things. You believe Nexon sits on a mountain of cash all day. What if they plan to do something with that? New things can be very expensive in today's world. What if they wasted millions developing sugar rush and trying to get kartrider and audition into their lineup, all three of which seem to have fallen off the radar? That digs into those so-called profits. It's wasted effort on their part and in turn, wasted money. If they don't have that mountain of cash, they can't do anything new. You seem to think Maplestory is the only game Nexon runs, but it's quite different than that. Nexon exists to release multiple MMOs, and Nexon America is nowhere near the size of Nexon Korea yet.

I've never seen anyone complain about aesthetic products besides them being a waste of the developers time and that Nexon is always shoving them down our throats in lieu of actual content. People only complain that they're being pressured to buy cash items that actually give big advantages like 2x cards or hammers. These are what make Nexon terrible. I'm all for them making money off ugly leaf and strawberry suits BECAUSE it doesn't change the game at all.

Making money off something that does nothing is smart marketing. Making money off something that gives SOME players a distinct advantage is unfair and what makes Nexon worse.
#16
I don't believe anyone here says Blizzard isn't "evil, dirty and thievery", but just that Nexon is a lot worse when it comes to money making schemes.
#17
Different business models, guys. Blizzard already makes $15 a month from your subscription, the only other way they're making money from you is through merchandise and expansions.

Both are companies running MMOs. The entire point of MMOs is to get you addicted and wasting a bunch of money on them. This is a meaningless argument.
#18
It's just like Microsoft employee seeing the company earning tens of billions yearly, no big deal about this anyway.

That is an expensive horse.. but I still say Nexon aren't brilliant. The last few months every event is NX related, very rarely is there an event that is fair and doesn't require nx, NX event: Buy nx get this! In game event: Spend 500 hours to get this pro 50 wep def shoes! yes I said def..

Blizzard run WoW don't they? If I'm on the right track then I would honestly expect to have to pay through the nose in a pay2play game...

A Free2play game you kind of expect it to be cheaper.. and yet so far Nexon have pulled schemes out of there arses that force players to buy skills, they have horrible errors, I mean player of Nexon spend hundreds of thousands of dollars playing, and then get banned due to some 'auto-ban' glitch.. and What do Nexon say? 'You were hacking/using 3rd party software..'

Do Blizzard have these problems? Do players get auto banned, do players get wrongly accused? Do there players frequently get hacked and have the company blame it on 'social engineering'?

Sure, every game has there hackers, but does every game blame it on the players?

Maybe I went off topic with the fact this has very little to do with monetary gain.. but more or less a player's sentimental experience, there accounts sentimental value, count just as much as spending real money. The hours they spend are worth money and Nexon lately really don't give much bang for there buck.

Sure Blizzard made a bad choice with a $25 dollar horse.. but what is one bad choice compared to Nexon's...

Super_cyp Wrote:The last few months every event is NX related
WRONG. Just because parts of the events are for NX users, that doesn't make the entire event for NX users. Even non NX users get a benefit out of this by having a flood of cheap new items before they become standard. Right now, i'm in this rainbow event, the Evan level up event, that other... event thingy with the medals... I don't even know what counts as an event to you people, but I'm swimming in what can easily be considered events, and they don't cost me a dime. The level 120 dragon equipment is very nicely priced for me, as well, considering the rush to create evans.

I'm honestly not seeing what's a bad choice here, because Nexon's "bad choices" have been helpful to those who paid for them. For the record, Nexon has acknowledged its one cash shop blunder when introducing the haunted house area and requiring a cash costume to enter, not realizing that what they thought was a novelty, was actually a pain in the ass for a few of its more audible customers. They haven't done that since.
