Also, when did I say I was against NEXON making any money off players? If you are a "casual player" GRATZ! Why don't you support NEXON, by buying some 2x just to keep their game alive? THEY AREN'T A EFFING CHARITY!

Any game company is obligated to provide good service to its players. Are you saying that just because a game is free to play, means that a dev can sit on their asses all day and still get cash flow?

King Wrote:so you want nexon to release psok and make even more money? I thought you are against Nexon to make ANY money off from players...

And FYI I am a casual player that plays for fun only so I never buy the monthly 2x because I rarely grind...

and I don't see how you are forced to pay 13k NX per month to play maple...I've been playing this game for 3 years and I never paid a cent of RL money, yet at certain point i had more than 200k NX cash prepaid...this means that it is perfectly possible to enjoy the game without paying anything

The argument made by Cynic was that there are much more effective ways for Nexon to profit from the evan event than "forgetting" to add items that violate their Free-To-Play business model. These books do not only make gameplay inconvenient if you choose not to purchase them from the cash shop; they make gameplay impossible after a certain point and for that reason, are best described as Pay-To-Play content. It is also important to observe that even if you obtain NX from another player, "someone" paid Nexon for your skill book. Even though NX does not physically have to be purchased by "you" it still must be obtained from somewhere.

I personally disagree with any uses of NX Cash that give players a relative advantage in the game (Majority of MTS, Wheels, 2x exp/drop, so on...). Just my 2 cents.

King Wrote:you need to buy mounts and pets in WoW too for real life money in addition to subscription fee

You clearly have not played WoW. These items are earned through gameplay and do not require additional money beyond the cost of playing the game.

On-Topic:

Nexon employees may have little merit in this particular forum, but Hime made the following post Friday:
Hime Wrote:Okay, guys. I've have more information about the mastery books in the Cash Shop.

I originally said that the books were earn-able in-game as that was the information given to me. From reading all the discussions about the books, I went to find more information.

The current mastery books in the Cash Shop are only available in the Cash Shop. In the near future, those books will be available through other methods. With that said, other mastery books are available in-game through rare boss drops.

I understand this isn't what you guys want to hear but I found it to be important to share.

Hime is frequently misinformed as she is merely a forum moderator, but for now, I would take her word for granted and treat the missing non-NX books as a bug rather than a stab at a new means of profit. Granted, it is a very inconvenient "bug" that will significantly cripple those players who decide to treat the evan event as Free-To-Play.

I would guess that if Nexon did indeed take the effort to correct this book error for evans that they would do the same for all future classes including dual blade.

I do buy some 4 hour 2x once in a while to support the game, but that is like once every 6 months lol...

the point i'm trying to make is that i don't need to charge NX ever because i can make all the NX i'll ever need in game, and 2k nx for a mastery book is nothing to me so I just consider that as some more donation to nexon from me to help the game with developement of better content...

true there are ways for nexon to make more money but instead of complaining on this forum, it is more effective to post on nexon official forum right?

I mean your suggestion will probably have 0 chance of getting read here on Southperry since it is one of the less popular maple forums out there (but one of the most entertaining ones of course but i don't think nexon cares)

IT'S THE GOD DAMNED PRINCIPLE OF THE THING. It doesn't matter if Nexon charged ten cents or a thousand dollars for the mastery book. The point is that they're limiting how far you can get with a class just because you don't use NX.

And you know what happens when you post anything against nexon on their forums? They lock it. Instead of listening and taking the time to explain their side or tell the community what's going on, they just throw you out in the cold.

As for Nexon not noticing this forum exists, Spectrum Goggles were put in the game pretty much because of a meme spawned off this site. I'd say they notice us.

how is suggesting to nexon different ways to make more money against nexon???

NX is just a in game currency that can be easily converted to mesos...and 2k nx can be easily earned in game so how is this against the principle of free to play??

The MTS makes mesos and nx just different forms of virtual currency, this is basically the same as paying a dark crystal to advance to 3rd job, paying 10mil to advance to 4th job, or paying any amount of money for any 4th job mastery book.

There's a fairly major difference between 3-4mil at 70 (which you can avoid by hunting - nearly all my characters found more than 10 DC ore in 2nd job), 10mil at 120 (which you can avoid by hunting), and 2k NX at level 40 (which you have to pay). How many level 40s have 20+mil of items to turn into a skill?

that just shows this class needs more funding than others just like how thieves needs funding to be strong as well

u can always get the skills later when u have enough funding...lets be honest here, any experienced player knows level 5 magic guard is enough to survive easily untill late 7x where monsters start to hit 1kish

also the rewards of GFA and other scroll quests at level 40 is more than though to cover the 20m in most servers

Someone has been brainwashed well by Nexon. Nexon does a good job making you forget that NX is real money, but that is not the case. If a snail dropped 8 NX when you poked it, then NX would be a true in-game currency. Whether you like it or not, someone, somewhere just paid Nexon 2 bucks for a skill that should be free content--you, another mapler, a company paying for people to participate in surveys and such, or any other customer Nexon can think of. You'd be better off thinking of NX as a gift card to some department store.

Because, as Stereo said, many people don't just have 20m lying around to convert to NX to get the skill. Besides, at this point the skill is glitched (or so I hear) so that after the mastery the book is in, you can't add any more points into it. And telling Nexon that you're doing it wrong, you'll make more money this way will still get the thread locked. They don't like pretty much any threads that says anything that contradicts what they're doing.

People should not have to pay 20m for a low level skill like this, especially since it's so important. mages are pretty much unplayable in the third job and up without magic gaurd.

I can understand KMS putting Dual Blade skill books in the cash shop. First off, you can get Dual Blader's skills from monsters outside of the CS. Second, they actually have some money issues, which is why the new characters all have seperate storages. Most CS equips in KMS are permanent, so if people can switch their equips from character to character they don't make any money. Dual Blades were made because KMS probably was having financial troubles.

Nexon America, on the other hand, had no reason to do this with Evans. Even KMS made it possible to get Dual Blade skill books outside of the cash shop. But Nexon America wasn't having any monetary issues. They've been making plenty of money. I'm not saying that it's wrong of them to try to make more, but it is wrong of them to go against one of the basic tennants of the game at its conception just to make more money.

Edit: I just read Hime's post in Nexon's forums. She said that there is no way to get the skill books outside of the cash shop, but there will be in the near future. And after she posted that, there are three or four responses thanking her for her honesty, but then saying they'll probably quit maple because of it. So hey, Nexon's newest idea is killing their fanbase.

Hey, King. Good for you. I know many people who play from Aussie and CAN'T DO SURVEYS! Some people have an error trying to charge NX! By the way you talk, I'd assume you know nothing about how currency exchange works, so let me explain it for you. People in Canada, Aussie, even Europe (who really shouldn't be in GMS though) have to pay MORE than 10 or 25 bucks to get their hands on NX. I don't care if you are "rich" I don't care if you "can make all the NX you will ever need". How many people actually BOUGHT the mastery books here in this forum? How many of them cried? I think Claw of Beta is gonna buy one, he didn't cry. I sure as hell bought one, I didn't cry.

Hey big kid, NAME ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT THE MASTERY BOOK HERE THAT CRIED. Then I will believe you. Quit? You are obviously not reading, they are just QUITTING THEIR EVANS, not quitting completely. Why am I not surprised that you seem to misunderstand everything that everyone says.

When is NX EASILY earned through gameplay? You can get "free" piece of crap items, but you can never earn NX quickly. You know who earns NX? Those little 6 year olds who submit their crappy pictures and stupid videos. Unless you are a six year old and have won any of the two events mentioned above, then PLEASE BY ALL MEANS explain how you get your hands on NX EASILY! And yeah yeah yeah, there is MTS...King you are a casual player, I'm sure you have nothing worth more than a few K NX, so where does your source come from? SS me a picture of YOU with 100k NX, purely from MTS and I will believe you. Yeah, MTS works, but it takes time to make a godly item then sell it on MTS for 50k NX. You know before I got hacked, all my items would only total up to maybe 120K NX, and that isn't much considering that it was about 5 years worth of work (I don't use gacha either).

Post on NEXON's official forum? SURELY YOU JEST. You know I can't even post there because of some magical error! But, knowing you, it's probably MY FAULT right? You think you know everything don't you?

I'd say around 80% of Maple makes the new job within' the first 1-5 days...It's smart and I applaud them for that, there customer service is the only thing I don't like, other then that there's nothing to complain about...It's a business, deal with it.

Check what I bolded..I'm curious...So you think the people that can't afford the 2k NX could afford to drop 80-120m for the book if it dropped from say...level 40-50 Bosses? Or maybe even higher?

You think the ones that can't afford the 2k NX could sit there and hunt for hours and not get KS'ed by the Merchs, pros, higher levels?

I'm sure you didn't expect them to not have it as a NX item and then it drop from a stump? This isn't a Private Server now, you should obviously expect it drop from a boss at a very low rate just like the other Books right?

I mean if you think about it...Shouldn't 2k for Magic Guard Master Book be a good thing? Not only that you get a scroll with it!

Games advance and MapleStory is advancing, get over it...This isn't new every game does this.

Dual Blade is a much more worthwhile class than evan. It does appear as though Nexon is leaning towards this new way to make money though. LF> Rare Candy, 30k nx. (For Just $30,000, you too can have a level 200 character!). I'd actually be interested in having a Pay to Play server where maybe the drop and exp rates were marginally better, like 1.5x normal rates for a fee of $20 a month. Where if you don't pay the monthly fee you can play your home(free) server instead.

Which is why Dual Blade will hit gMS before MapleSEA like Evan and could easily come as soon as August, there gonna bank from the game so they will try to bring it asap IMO.

This.

Yesternight I literally tried for 3 hours to buy NX from Nexon via Paypal. I really wanted to give Nexon money and all, imagine that.

I couldn't buy. Either it considered my operation as high risk, or told me I had already used a Paypal account for that account, which was like 2 years ago.

Other options for Mexico? Use Paybycash, which means paying around 55 dollars for 30k NX, or go to an illegal chinese website and buy 30k NX for 32 dollars. Guess which I chose.

Just confirming your point. `-`

The game and all characters in the game are advertised free as to play. You cannot play with half a character. This is like giving you a house but no land to put it on. It's useless.
