Well topic title says it all...
But I really have the idea Nexon just used the Evan class as a tester for how future classes will be in the future...
No NX? -> 50% skills / 50% the damage
Spend tons of NX? -> Full power for a new overpowered class...
Is this the best Nexon America could come up with, after all these years? :/
Let's all just hope there won't be "Adventurer rebalance books" in the CS next patch... :')
Ok, back to Battlefield - Bad Company 2 @ XBL

That's pretty much how it was in KMS with Dual Blade. At least for the first couple of weeks. No one could find the skill books nor did anyone even on Insoya know what monsters dropped the books. The only way to get the skill/mastery books were to buy them from the Cash Shop. Otherwise, you were screwed out of those skills.

For evan add no nx -> No survivability (lv 5 mg won't last long =^\)
But yea I think every next class is "doomed" as you say it. It would give them more money. I didn't even buy cs items for my cygnus & aran. Now if I want to play a new class I'll be forced to.

It's such a clever way for Nexon to make money. Make sure the skill books don't drop right at the beginning of a new job that most people will start to play, then force those people to pay for skills that are almost essential to gameplay.

There was an LA Times article that showed them making record profits in the middle of a recession or something... yeah, I don't think they're on the brink of bankruptcy. They just seem to get greedier.

so u r suggesting that they should only make profit when they are going to be bankdrupt?
companies need money to expand and maple needs money to get new patches...
plus I don't see how 2k nx is gonna affect the life of any1 who plays maplestory...consider this a donation to help maple get new contents faster
I've played alot of other "free" mmos that have alot worse method of giving unfair advantage for people who pays...Nexon is not that bad compared to other mmo companies
and plz don't compare nexon to Blizzard...WoW is a p2p game and the game provider is OBLIGATED to provide good service to its players

Even if you buy the Skillbook you can't max Magic Guard. As soon as you hit 40 and get 3 skill points, you can't add them to the skill. It's stupid.

You can max magic guard if you do it first. It's a bit slower, but those levels go so fast anyway.

so if i buy mastery when i was like level 60 (when i actually need max mg) I can't max it even if i buy the mastery book?

In response to the Magic Guard glitch discussion
Magic Guard, Magic Booster, and Critical can't be maxed when you achieve you next growth.
For example, if your about to Max Magic Guard at 39, and you reach level 40, you cannot max it.
However, you can with Lightning and the other skills that don't require purchase as seen here
http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p424/...glitch.jpg
so doing what Fiel says will save you from trouble.
and more on topic, implementing NX for skill features on a class that didn't require payment options originally shows that Nexon America will willingly use the skillbook features as done for the Duel-Blader, and perhaps implement more restrictions for not paying.

Dude I'm not sure why people don't realise that this is a FREE TO PLAY MOTHER FUCKING GAME. This pomegranate just completely fucked evereything up. Cash shops in ftp games are meant for a small addition to a game to make it more enjoyable, not to force fucking players to buy stuff to even PLAY the game. I dont like f2p games that break that pattern.

You have to remember that this is not the first time that Nexon has done something like this. Remember the Halloween event a few years back? You had to buy halloween costumes to get into the building. They later released it for free.

Actually, I had that problem at first, but after I relogged I was able to max MG at level 42.

I fail to see your argument. What are you trying to say? Was it necessary to make the skill books CS only? Obviously they SHOULDN'T ONLY MAKE MONEY when they are on the verge of bankruptcy, but do you not understand that it has been this way since 2x came out? Do you really think they make SOOOOO little that they can't even release skill books normally? This isn't something like 2x drop/xp, this is a NECESSARY skill to survive. You will be unable to get this class to a higher level without that skill.
Also, do you not understand how business works? If they released the glasses and Evans the way they should have, they would have made MORE money from people buying 2x cards. Right now I'm level 43, about rank 2000. It's like 7 bucks to get all the CS skills. 7 x 2000 = 14,000. Now if it was released the way it should have been, more people would have bought 2x for glasses, there would be more people playing Evans and BUYING 2x. This would work well mainly because they are only giving us a month to get the scrolls. Add in PSOK + the ability to get 7atk glasses. I'm sure many people would try hard buying 60 dollars worth of 2x and even more just for PSOK. If you really think this is their "way to survive" then...Either way, Nexon is doing it wrong.

The only thing you get for 13k NX per month in maple is a 30 day 2x exp card...
And then you don't even have any:
- Pets
- Pet accessories
- Gachapon gambling for -better then normal- items/scrolls
- Epic items that ONLY drop from bosses instead of -even better then epic- items/scrolls, coming out of a gambling machine
- Non-ugly basic clothes
- 24/7 Helpdesk support
- Non-automated Helpdesk replies
- Balanced gameplay
- Balanced classes
and now also...
- Classes that can be fully played without buying in-game skills with real money...
That's the problem when you compare games like WoW vs Maple... The "pay-to-play" games are better and cheaper...
Add to that that Nexon is (as stated in several interviews with / reviews of the company) making a lot of profit as the game used to be...
So the only reason they added NX-skills is to even -MORE- money then they're already getting... smacking their loyal customers/players in the face...
I think Nexon it would be a good idea of the CEO of Nexon America went back to college and took some economy classes about "Goodwill", because obviously he skipped some classes there in the past...
But ok, true, I got my 30HP/MP 5 slot Dragon Classes totally for free, to use with my Blood Shad / Blood NW... Yay even more HP!!!
Still, looking to maple as a whole... I think Nexon should watch it's steps... Think about it... would you start playing maple as a new players if you realized all new -better then the original- classes would become partly pay-to-play? I don't know if I would... but probably not...
Anyway, back to Battlefield - Bad Company 2 @ XBL!

Yeah, games going "that" route. Don't like it. Nexon doesn't seem to believe in the "Meter Drop" method of business. Should use every asset to draw as many people as possible as opposed to milking the paying players. Something that would help nexon AND the game.
Well, hope not too many potential players, both paying and nonpaying, see this and go "ew" and turn away to another game that offers their classes for free.

Needing to use nx does not mean you have to pay real money for it. The MTS makes mesos and nx just different forms of virtual currency, this is basically the same as paying a dark crystal to advance to 3rd job, paying 10mil to advance to 4th job, or paying any amount of money for any 4th job mastery book.

tl;dr
what's ur point???
so you want nexon to release psok and make even more money? I thought you are against Nexon to make ANY money off from players...
And FYI I am a casual player that plays for fun only so I never buy the monthly 2x because I rarely grind...
btw i think the reason that nexon nerfed the chance on the glass scrolls that u get from level ups is to make the game more balanced instead of giving every hardcore grinder 7 atk glasses

you need to buy mounts and pets in WoW too for real life money in addition to subscription fee
and I don't see how you are forced to pay 13k NX per month to play maple...I've been playing this game for 3 years and I never paid a cent of RL money, yet at certain point i had more than 200k NX cash prepaid...this means that it is perfectly possible to enjoy the game without paying anything
like cyan said, with MTS, NX and Meso can be interconverted easily and in the end they are just 2 forms of in game currency, each currency has its pros and cons that's why merchants constantly interconvert them

Money is not the issue here. The fact that Nexon made an ESSENTIAL skill require NX in the first place to do anything useful is. This uproar would never have happened if the skillbooks were for Blaze or Flame Wheel or some other attacker skill, or if those skills were avaliable from drops in the first place. Magic Guard, however, is an essential skill, more so even than Shadow Partner and Sharp Eyes is to NLs and almost everyone (respectively), in that it allows mages to survive. Attacker skills and critical strikes don't matter a lot if you're dead. There is NO WAY a mage could survive in the mid and higher levels without it. Making it require NX (whether or not it comes from cards or MTS) to make it usable, when it did not originally, is horribly greedy, especially when that company is already toting its record profits in the worst economy in decades.
This is the article I was talking about, and Nexon has a 12% increase in profits, exactly when the recession is worst. I don't think they need to go for CS skillbooks, and as Cynic said, doing things the normal way could have given them the same or more profits, without this whole mess.
For the record, I have 10k Maple Points, so if I really needed MG, I could buy it now. Why buy something that will probably be free in a few weeks?
