Combattente Wrote:till, there are some positive things of it, such as instanced maps for the bosses and the monsters/bosses not being overpowered. I kinda got bored after half an hour of killing slimes without finding any papers, but if the first boss is at all representative of how the later bosses go, they're pretty underpowered. It took me 1 hit to kill the monster in the old tree, if I was level 70 it would have taken about 4-5 hits. And the dynamic of running around Leafre to find a new watch for every quest (or the alternative - just buy an eraser and get a 24 hour pass, lol) is not that great either. Is there no such thing as holding onto the watch with a firm motherpineappleing grip as you pass through the portal? Do we have to lose it every single time? So far I've spent about 2 hours doing quests for Neo City, and the sum total of my rewards are about 0.8% exp and I found a black powder from one of the slimes. Understandably I hope, this isn't really that enjoyable for me, and considering freeze/stun are broken I'm not in a position to do much else. Sarah Wrote:I said part of this to Isaac last night but I'll post it here too: I don't know if you're aware of this but, after Neo Tokyo was expanded in JMS, they nerfed the damage on all mobs to make them more easy to take on, thus, making it a much better area. (As an example afterlords giving 10k exp and doing less dmg than Oblivion guardians) The reason why 70% of the MS population doesn't make it pass lvl 120, is because there is nothing that motivates you on that. Pretty accurate was someone on the Neo City extraction thread when he said Nexon doesn't realize this game is pretty much done after lvl 120. After that, all that is left is bossing, being zakum the only boss to be counted in for that (HT requires a lot of people, contacts, organization and so much crap that you'd be going there once a month, and lets not talk about PB). I'm pretty sure Neo Tokyo would have worked prety good for this. As for the hard questing. I'd love to do any hard quest as far as the reward was as good, and in the case of Neo Tokyo, the best reward was the story behind them. There is also all the exclusive weaponry it'd bring. New Bullets, New stars and some great weapons. And here we have Neo City, Which is an area of apocalipse caused by... slimes. With a really bad story, bad training spots, and weak bosses. Not a single thing is worth exploring Neo City, and if you get into the trouble of doing it, you wont look back at it ever again because there is just nothing to call you back, at all. I'm starting to get dissappointed on Nexon Korea. I always though they were the great company unlike Nexon America, but their lastest moves like Ruining Neo Tokyo and the overpowering of dual bladers is starting to make me thing they too only care about getting money

The Pirate PQ hat already gave decent stats for the level range of these quests, being the best thing next to a zhelm up until now. This new content literally makes it pointless to ever even go to PPQ at all, even though it was barely used before as a place to get the hat.

yay! I finally got all 20 looseleafs, only to realize that I exhaused all of my mesos (6m) on pots while i was hunting for them.... And i ran out of pots... and died 6 times due to massive lag caused by swarms of people. So far ive gotten -46% exp, and am broke and potless. Cant go back into neo city without pots, now can I?...
Also, im level 75, and both versions of the tree monster took me only 1 hit to kill. Pathetic. IMHO, I can understand why nexon nerfed the mobs, BUT WHY KILL THE STORY? I mean really? slimes stole a 5 year old girl's robot drawing that started the robot apocalypse? In my opinion, It was ok for nexon to nerf the mobs, but they had no reason to kill the story. Why not give us neo tokyo with the nerfed mobs.... It wouldnt be that hard....

Big difference. I, and many other people, hate PQs with a passion.

Well, if you have enough time to finish it about 500 times (wich is ALOT)... not to mention the fact of failing dozens o times due to party organization. There's no way to compare a lv90 Pirate Hat with a ZHelm. It's fairly easier to acquire a Zakum one, and really worth each meso spent on it, if you buy on fm. PPQ is a waste, like 90% of PQ's on Maple World.

They should have made the time travelers circlet good. WAAAAY higher level requirement, and alot alot alot of work (papers), and tough quests (consdering in the context, that the person does the quests at the first available level), the circlet should be buffed to at least +18-+19 of each stat...
That alone would make neo city alot better. Heck for that, I would give up my high level training spots.

So uh how is it exp wise? Is it like a quick way to level like the mushroom place from 30-33?
2010-02-23, 11:06 PM
Well, it was great, I got 20% starting, but the papers part took me 2 days, and I had to spend tons on pots and crap hunting for papers, then once i finished that, i got 27 % at midnight harbor.
cant attest to the rest though.. anybody know the highest level reqirement? I am 75 and got to the end of midnight harbor, but cant seem to go any further? Is there a higher level requirement for the next place, or is it glitched?

You know what was a really cool concept about Neo Tokyo? The quests that lead to alternate endings. I thought that was a nice addition to Maplestory, and could open the door for similar quest chains to come in.
I haven't even gotten inside Neo City yet, so I don't really have first hand experience with it. I don't particularly care about either though, to tell you the truth. Just feel it was rather pointless to release high level content to mid levels, as if they don't have enough areas to explore. Most people would probably just stick to exploring areas around their training spots anyway, and leave the actual exploration for when they're higher leveled (because they've nothing better to do).

I did all the quest today...
- The storyline, though not horrible, was disappointingly bland and seemed rushed - that damn crumbled notebook quest... I swear those things had a lower drop rate then Elphen Gliphs and Pig heads (without the pig head trick that is) - i was pisssssed at the hat... 43 levels higher then zakum helmet and not even 1/4 as good (i'm counting slots) - the enemies we're horrible for training purposes, considering the only ones "worth" training on (in terms of HP/EXP ratio and compared to what we already have) were rather annoying to say the least (stun and seal... for level 80's that's just cruel...) - The bosses were pathetic, i was actually hesitant to blink in fear I'd miss the battle in it's entirety, though Dark Authben (don't know the name) took the longest of all the bosses but the longest being 56 seconds isn't saying much (I'm an HP washed aran so the damage reflect didn't bother me at all); and i know some people may argue "well maybe you're to over-level" but as a person whom did the "dojo PQ" a couple hundred times I can assure you that compared to the "other" bosses in their supposed level range these are push overs... - The watches... oh don't get me started on those damn watches... every damn time i came out and had to replace it... my God i spent about an hour hunting watches altogether The only good thing.. the quest gave decent exp as a reward even though it was about a 4 hour session for 10%~15% at my level (127) it was still pretty good for such a "piss easy" and yet monumentally frustrating area

Considering they dont have Masteria maybe they remake it to a nerfed masteria for lvl 40-60 though F3 and then Neo City = Masteria on the future or w/e somekind of story like that, hope they surprise me and do somethign with that with HIGH LVL CONTENT this time.

ClawofBeta Wrote:Ffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuu- Oh god, what are they going to do? They can't ADD stuff that doesn't exist to it now for higher levels, because it would be stupid to go in and do moe high leveled monsters that look far less cool than the weak ass monsters already in there.

That's so dumb. There isn't even anything left for them to ripoff from neo tokyo anymore.
