Should Guys Put the Toilet Seat Down After Using it Every Time?

Although that's all moot because I put both lids down like Fiel does. I remember hearing that germs can spray out when you flush or something.

o_o I would have thought more germs would be obtained from handling the toilet seat than those that would from spraying up when you flush the toilet.

Why don't girls like to put the seat down?
-Sometimes they fall in

Usually I keep the toilet seat down... no point putting it up if it's just going to end up down next time I'm at the toilet.

I don't touch toilet seats in public washrooms.

maybe im just weird, but when i go in there to take care of business, i do it sitting. regardless of what im doing, i sit on the toilet. i use the time to just relax and meditate on a lot of things, the days events, things i want to do tomorrow, and if i bring the laptop in with me...

but on that note, i think that men shouldnt put the seat down every time. im not one to oblige a double standard. i agree with you on the "you have eyes, and there are lights, use them" points.

Yes, they should put it down. If you so lazy that you can't take ALL THAT energy to put it down, I will cry. But guys don't really have to stand to use the toilet, and myself, I don't understand why most do. It's just common courtesy.

Well pardon my 3rd world country-ness, some people here even washed vegetables when they first saw the toilet seat. Apart from that, girls could always spread their legs wider to not fall.
Personally though, I put it down to form a habit and lessen my future gf's problems by 1.

Some of my relatives do it and I have no choice but to keep loving them. However, both of my sister's ex-boyfriends left it up. UNACCEPTABLE. If I thought an open toilet seat looked stupid why would I leave it up?

Also, as a side note, when visiting houses if I find the lid down when I enter the bathroom I'll put it back down when I finish. I do it to be polite. If my hosts don't like to have the seat up, then I'll put it down for them. But that's less about being nice to the goils and more putting things where I found them. I hate being a burden. In my house, I leave the toilet the way I want to leave it.

If this toilet seat fiasco is SUCH a huge "respect" issue, then both should have to put it up/down depending on who used the bathroom last. Period. And this whole argument of women falling into the toilet is so extremely moot, it's not even funny. If you get up to go to the bathroom and don't check to make sure there's a seat there, you deserve to fall in the toilet. It's punishment for not using your neck. And, what's funny is, every time women go "potty", they have to sit down. Men only sit down half the time. In other words, we aren't nearly as experienced at it as you are, and yet, we somehow manage to keep from "falling in the toilet". If you're not checking to make sure there's something to sit on, you quite deserve it, men and women alike. >_>

If guys should have to put it down, girls should have to put it up. Or guys can leave it up and girls can leave it down. Anything else is a silly double standard.

Is it so difficult to pee standing up? Are your pees so long that you are able to meditate and browse the internet during them? There are only three good reasons for a boy to pee sitting down: you're REALLY, REALLY drunk (even that's questionable), you're in the middle of other business, or you're disabled in some way (including being really fat since you can't aim that sucker)

I used to live with a bunch of guys, so the toilet seat is almost never down...we put it up if anything. But with girls you gotta put zem down after.

If you ever have a chance to check out a men's public bathroom anywhere you will see that A LOT of men have trouble aiming. Urinals are huge targets too, compare it to the bowl at home and you can see how much worse it can get. it doesn't always come out perfectly straight. I'm not a sitter but I can certainly see how someone could be one.

I put the seat down, the main problem I have is if I forget to put it down every once in a while I get bitched at like there's no tomorrow. It's not even that common, once every two months or so.

I have brothers and grew up with my father, I know they're gross. I'd rather deal with a messy bathroom than a nancy boy who sits down to pee though.

I've got to agree with Sarah here. A girl told me the first thing she'd do if she had been transformed into a guy is pee standing. I don't see why we would take such a godsend away from ourselves.
