Should Guys Put the Toilet Seat Down After Using it Every Time?
#1
Not some of the times. Every time. In a house/toilet room used equally by both genders.
Should the guys have to put the seat down after using it?
If no, is there ever a point when guys should? What kind of Female:Male use ratio?

Key word here is "should", as in 'a social expectation'.

My thoughts:

I say no, I mean whats the point, Its like asking the girls to put up the toilet seat after using it.

I just do it by habit because it isn't hard at all to lift it up when you have to use it, nor is it hard to put it down when you are done. Though, whenever I am finished I put everything down, so the girls will still have to lift up the thing above the seat (what the hell is this called?).

It's just common courtesy so yes, they should.

It's them that fail at aiming so have to put it up in the first place Tongue

If I ever had a boyfriend, it would be my expectation of him to put the seat back down when he's finished.

I always put both bottom and top lids down anyway. It looks cleaner. I just do it while I'm reaching for the flusher anyway, so it's not like it's a big inconvenience.

Leave it how it is and have whoever using it next configure the toilet to their liking. Not so hard, right?

Or close the lid.

Both men and women use the toilet seat.

Time to TMI a little. There are 2 main possibilities as to why a person went to the toilet. Multiply that by the number of genders and you have 4. Only 1 of those 4 requires it to be up. Majority rules which means it should be left down Tongue

It's just a habit for me, putting the toilet seat down.

In that scenario, with females and males using the toilet equally, it would benefit them more if it were down all the time as opposed to being up all the time. You need the seat down to take a dump, for both guys and girls, and also for girls peeing. It's only guys peeing that requires the seat to be up. (Not even, really, but we're not all snipers, lol.)

And the cons of putting the seat down (Half a second of thinking) are nowhere close to the cons of leaving the seat up (Falling in, getting screamed at by girls, touching the bare ceramic).

It just makes sense, at least to me. :f6:

I have a habit of putting it down because it just seems more normal to me. In fact, I actually have a problem with girls I know(brother's girlfriend(s) in this case) that leave it up.

Like someone said, there is only 1 time the seat actually would to be up.
I don't pull the seat up in the first place, its called AIMING,

Even so, girls should then consider to put the seat up for guys.

There is a certain degree of uncertainty when aiming because of the splatter factor. Unless you piss into a cone, there's no way to remove it.

I always close both but I do think that, if it's being left open, each person should have to deal with it the way they want it. It's unfair to expect men to lift and drop and then get mad when they don't. Men can lift it and we can drop it. Equal.

I like arguing this.

Why don't girls like to put the seat down?
-Sometimes they fall in
-It's called looking. Unless you're blind that's a silly reason.
-The toilet seat is gross and has germs on it
-Yeah which is why I don't want to have to put it up
-it takes effort to put it down
-It takes more to put it up. But I guess since guys are so much stronger and indipendent than women we're better for the job.
-It's just what guys do for girls
-Alright, I'll put up the seat if you go make me a sandwhich. Because that's just what girls do for guys, right?

As for my actual standpoint, I think that guys having to put the seat down is stupid, and things like this kind of stand in the way of total equality. It may sound silly, but if men and women are equal then why are men the only ones who have to touch the lid or put any effort into moving it? Besides, putting it down is rediculously easy. Tap the lid and it goes tumbling down. Problem solved.

I actually have the habit to raise the toilet seat after taking a pomegranate.
Reason is that my younger brother used to not bother raising the toilet seat, and piss all over the toilet seat.

Putting the seat down after using it could result in unncessesary toilet seat movement. Therefore it should be the responsibility of whoever is using the toilet to move the seat if it is not configured for what they are doing before doing their business and they should leave it how it is when they're done. If the next person to use it needs to move it, they can move it.

Although that's all moot because I put both lids down like Fiel does. I remember hearing that germs can spray out when you flush or something.

Yeah, there's a bit of spray, but MythBusters used toothbrushes sitting on the toilet and nothing happened. Even after doing scientific tests, they found no extra germs.

Yes, they should put it down. If you so lazy that you can't take ALL THAT energy to put it down, I will cry. But guys don't really have to stand to use the toilet, and myself, I don't understand why most do. It's just common courtesy.

I've put the seat down for as long as I can remember; I'm not usually aware I do it.

I started to piss in the tub. Just let your plantain do whatever it wants. Keep the water running, of course. Wash your hands right there, too. Awesome, fast as pineapple.
