The legend Pirate and Archer
#21
I'd see the pirate somewhat resembling Davy Jones from PoTC, being one who has to sail the sea's forever because of the Dark Magicians spell. (Well, Nexon has to make up a better idea for his re-appearence but meh.)
Would be nice if the pirates became one with the sea - being able to summon an gigantic water wave or to draw powers from water attacks.

As for the legendary Bowman, I think it's still going to be a normal bowman. I can't think of any skills for it. Maybe summon centaurs as a new and more powerfull version of Arrow Rain/Eruption?

This. Until we see it in action, we cannot assume it isn't or isn't a legend.
We shouldn't be EXPECTED to follow data to know what's going on.

Why is every one pointing the pirate legend as a guns weilder? As far as I remember, Corsairs are the strongest job and buccaneers are at the botom of the DPS rank. Also, If the created a new weapon for the thief legend, they may do the same for the pirate one. I'd be cool to see musket-bayonet pirates Biggrin

Thus far the two weapon attack melee classes have used the oppisite of what was used for KoC; Dawn warriors use swords, arans use pole arms. Night walkers use claws, the new guys use daggers. Following this trend, crossbows and guns will be used.

1) Higher population of Infighters compared to Gunslingers. Corsairs may be the strongest job, but they start out -really- weak and take a -really- long time to reach their full potential.
2) Strikers exist in the Knights of Cygnus. That makes two knuckle users as opposed to one gun user.

you guys all talk about there being a pirate "legend" but we all know nexon hates pirates so much that they'll just "forget" after they make the archer

Gunslinger is obvious due to the trend of weapons, but if said events were to have happened years ago, technology woulda been primitive. So I'm thinking Hand cannon for the pirate version. They still should have a rail gun >=(

Or just make them have a gunblade. Those are always fun.

Archer would likely be mini xbows like windraiders. The repeating xbows sounds like something that could be new- shoot-shoot-shoot- reload- kill moar. And of course the mandatory flying raptor bird.

In the Aran picture I believe it showed the pirate and the bowman using a knuckle and a regular bow. However, with this job dual wielding it apparantly doesn't prove that they'll use that weapon, or they might not even be the legends to begin with.

I doubt the job would be crossbow though, a regular bow sounds far more ''legendary'' and a crossbow sounds more of something to be used for the convenience of modern man(or men&women if youre sensitive to only hearing man, w.e). I think crossbow should stay to the adventurers, but should be buffed epically.

While I wouldn't mind the pirate job using guns(or a knuckle gun) I would rather them use regular knuckles, how cool would it be to have a screw punch that did a different attack depending on the directional button you hold? For example, charging up a screw punch then holding up = a cool uppercut similar to the arans ice toss. But if you held it downward, he'd do a mini version of a shockwave, where holding the button forward would make him do a normal screw punch, wouldn't that be cool?

If the legend job did use guns, I think it should be able to have a lot more summons(that are useful and can be used together, not one at a time). Dual wielding guns I don't really care for, but I think they should be able to use a knuckle with their gun and be half gun half fighter, that'd be a TRUE legendary pirate.

Hoping that the Pirate won't use Guns and that the Archer will use a crossbow.

It uses the exact same first job that an Adventurer thief uses. That means that you talk to the Dark Lord to advance to first job. That means the new class is an Adventurer, not a Legend. Legends have their own lands, own job advancements, own code in the data, etc. etc. Everything except the "6 job advancements" points to it being an Adventurer.

Just speculating, but they could do something along the lines of The Dark Lord somehow being the legend, and training you to use his special skills to fight the black mage.

Then we'd have 3 knuckle users and only 1 gun user.

Aran image already discredited when we got Evan. There are no dragons in the image.

Are you implying gunner summons are useless? They're useful in their own situations. About the used together thing: gunners are actually the only class in the game who can use multiple summons at once. We have have 3 octopi out (more with wrath of octopi) and a few Gaviotas out all at once.

I am deeply offended. You've neglected to include birds. I'll have you know, humans wouldn't be where they are today without us birds. Imagine a world without carrier pigeons? Imagine a world without us telling you to get up for work in the morning? Or a world where we don't spread the seeds of fruit across the land? How about a world where we don't shit on your car, reminding you to get it washed regularly?

The fact that you completely disregarded my species deeply hurts me. For that, I must shit on your head tomorrow.

Maple doesn't follow our time line. There's a pirate in Ellin forest who has a gun. Then again, we don't really know if the gun is the same. It's a pistol that looks pretty much like any other Maple gun.

I like that idea. possibly it may be the re-animated spirit (soul, ghost, whatever) of the legendary pirate that when defeated by the Dark Magician, could have had his spirit torn from his body and sealed in the remains of the pirate legends ship (self assumption that the legend had a pirate ship). Centuries have passed and the seal imprisoning the pirate legends spirit has weakened enough for the legend break free. Since it would be a sort of spirit and having been in contact with the Dark Magicians seal for so long it could possibly have the new Dark element (which instead of a damage bonus on certain mobs could weaken monsters attacking power and defence or even curse them).

The storyline for the skills could see you travelling all over the maple world visiting the graves of your fallen comrades to commune with their restless spirits (this is turning into a heavy ghost type theme) learning the powerful skills and abilities they once knew to help return you to your former glory as the legendary Pirate Captain and to avenge their souls by defeating every trace of the Dark Magician from existance.

Few possible skill ideas.
-Summon the spirits of dead pirates to attack monsters arround you, that could also have a time based effect (Mix of BoT and Ninja ambush)
-Maybe raise a ghost ship from the dark depths to ram into monsters in front of you for massive damage ( like Latanicas boat attack)

It would be a darker sort of class whose story is more focused on hatred and revenge. All I can think of for now, I think it'd be a decent to play.

I really hope it's a knuckle/fist user. I know there's TB, but Cygnus aren't really a real class. Corsairs are good while Bucc's sort of suck and since the Legends are all strong compared to their regular counterparts, I'm hoping we get a strong melee character.

Maybe they could just have them not use weapons and train their body or something. Starting out as a regular maple avatar and turning into a roided up beast in 4th job would be pretty hilarious.

BAREHAND MASTERY!!!! Buccaneers can already do it, but the mastery is like 10% AND you can use a shield too (which i find funny). It would be cool too : "lol we dunno what weapons are, so we're so raw we use our BAREHANDS against these fools."

Lost my Mind. Since you mention that, I think Sarah's idea is worth a mention. I really liked her ideas; and what impressed me is how she took advantage of the idea that because you're technically the only character that matters in MapleStory in the questline, everyone can be the same single character of Testonen. An example would be like how NPCs like Mom and Dad do not actually have every Mapler as a child, but the way it exists is that only the player is the child of those NPCs. They are just event NPCs, but the point remains (I'm sure there's other examples of this, but I can't think about this right now).

Here's some of her blogposts: Legendary Pirate: Testonen and The Story of Testonen: Bullet-point draft (chronological) (part 1) . Sad that she gave up on it after all the classes' names were announced.

Didn't NexonKO already state it was a Legend...?

I agree with Kabanaw, just because it's under the 400's doesn't mean it's not a Legend class. Hell, they could've just placed it there as a place holder.
