Your move. Must have been real desperate because nobody wants an LOLSHAD to sell leech.
It'll take you what? 2 hours? I could watch New Moon in that time frame.

I have never made a class high enough to even consider bossing. I quit my assasin at like 44, I quit my priest at like 76, and my mage used to be my highest character at 88.
Being an Ice mage was fun for a while, but at the time there were hardly any places to train efficiently. So I didn't really bother with it much.
When I got back onto Maple this summer I decided to give Blaze wizard a try. I had fun with it, but around 75-ish I lost motivation and wanted to try something a bit new.
Then I decided to go with a slinger. To be honest, they didn't really appeal to me at first. Most of their videos looked pretty boring. But then I pretty much found out I was looking at the wrong videos. The stuff I was watching were videos of characters with their "1337 SKILZZZ" trying to make the video look cool because they can jump over a monster's projectile attack and kill them at the same time or something. Then they stay in their ship for a majority of the video, even though they're traveling quite a distance between mobs.
But when I made my slinger I was surprised how fun it was. Even back in 2nd job when you have "shit damage lol", I was having fun because it feels different from other range classes. I felt that archers were too stiff. Sins felt too...eh, can't quite put my finger on why I just don't like the feel of them. Mages in general feel a bit too slow for my taste. I do prefer them over sins and archers though, simply because they feel more fun to play as with a wider variety of skills and such.
But I felt slingers pretty much solved all over the problems I had with all the other ranged classes. I wasn't (and I' still not) into the class because of LOLDAMAGE, I feel that it's a genuinely fun class to play.
I was originally going to make this post to say not to let others get in your way if you find your own characters fun, but again I've never made a character high enough to be invited to a boss run. The closest I've ever gotten was 101 on Odin, and that's because I stopped leveling my normal character after I got on Hime.
So, if the others are really getting in the way of enjoying your class, try finding some friends who don't care about that stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't care so much about damage, and would like to boss just for fun instead of "lets kill this thing in 10 seconds or less."
Maybe you can find Southperrians in your server, and organize an all Southperry run or something.

@Typhoon: I don't appreciate your attitude Sir. Mark and I were trying to have a conversations regarding the usefulness of his class. What are you trying to imply?

Wouldn't it be a Bucc? :f6:
And Buccaneers easily match up to heroes or DK's in terms of BigFoot killing.

@OP: I have the same feeling. I don't see the point in grinding to 15x If people 10 lvls below me can KS me @ Bigfoot. On the other hand, in Khaini at least, Buccs (and shads I think) get into HT real easy because of their party buffs. I'm only 137 on my Bucc and I will be HTing soon.

Goals Wrote:I made my corsair similar to your reason. To be accepted in bosses. At first, I was attacted by the damage on paper. Corsairs are the hardest hitters on battleship. So I bandwagoned. HOWEVER, soon I found out it's not the case. Heroes are the hardest hitting classes in the game due to their funding and speed. My friend can do like 90k total brandishes being around 12 levels higher than me. :3 NOW, I accept my weakness and just play because I already love it to death. <33 Sure I am annoyed by recoil which is slow as hell. My control SUCKS ass too since I leech.
Okay no. Heroes are not the hardest hitting class in the game unless they're hitting 2 or 3 monsters. You would be extremely hard-pressed to find a Hero that can kill any 1 target boss faster than a BM, NL with SE, or Corsair with even moderate funding. Unless it's like Bigfoot or some CWK boss where ranged have a clear disadvantage. Anything like Pap or Anego or Zakum after the arms is definitely easier and faster as ranged.

Rapid fire is the worst 4th job attack in the game. It's damage is so grossly low it isn't even funny anymore. The fast attacking speed gets old quick.
Rapid Fire isnt bad at all, it is about 10% better than Strafe, which is my main attacking skill I'm stuck with till lv 200.

Go tell that to some of the "B> BF LEECH FROM HERO ONLY" cool kids we have in Scania.
There's a disturbing amount of practical class comparison going on, maybe I should have omitted the opinion of the majority from the OP, as it is for the most part incorrect and exaggerated. Was going more for the individual perception of characters regardless of practical applications ingame, but eh. Obviously some enjoy being useful to others, others don't mind whether they are or not.
Also, probably need to find a group to go bossing with in the first place, the last group I was with kind of disintegrated as everyone started to "move on to better things" whether in maple (ASSOCIATIN WITH PR0z) or IRL (i have GF so maple sucks now). SP is a good place to start right.

ive yet to see this, so ill toss this out there.
f/p's. my god, when i deleted my priest to make a f/p, i was laughed at, and my sanity questioned. rightly so, as my priest was 81 at the time, and ive had him for years, but, i grew tired of the demand from being a priest. i mean, people expected me to have maxed HS by then, which i didnt. they wanted me to be their heal slaves at stuff like himes, which i wasnt. they wanted me to be a subserviant dog to them, which i refuse to be. being a f/p was tough until i got poison brace.
my god, it was like an epiphany. sure it may take longer, but its more enjoyable to be able to say that, at my level on my f/p, that i can take down DT's. i like being able to brag about being able to go xx to kill yy before zz class, and i enjoy the solitude of it, not having to answer to anyone but myself. but, as im currently on an indefinite hiatus from MS, its kind of hard to want to play the game. the classes i made, d/k, f/p, and a remake of the priest, are fun. sure ive had to tweak the cleric to better fit what i want out of the character, but it is still fun to play.
i agree that you shouldnt make a class if its only purpose is to serve and appease others. if thats the case then youre not yourself making and playing the character, its others playing via the proxy of you. youre the medium through which these puppeteers are controlling your/their characters. sure helping others is fun, and rewarding in its own ways, but to be completely, or greatly depended on and used by others is no fun for me.
an aside; my hiatus is mostly due to an empty buddy list and no guilds. people make MMO's fun, another reason to play the game, to meet people. sure some classes are better bridges for that, like the buff-slaves out there, but that leads back to the issue of being a tool. =/

Well first of all, Evans suck so Arch Mages aren't going anywhere.
Like Goals said, being a popular class has its disadvantages too because they're so over-saturated. Take Bishops for example. Practically no Horntail group in Bera is recruiting Bishops because there are so ing many of them. I had a level 185 Bishop and it was so freaking boring. All I did was train. It was pretty much impossible to find a Horntail group that needs a Bishop (and I'm in Momentum, one of the more powerful guilds in Bera) and no one really takes Bishops to Zak anymore. Soloing bosses is ridiculously slow on a Bishop too. So I quit it. I only use it nowadays to help friends leech, or leech myself a blessing mule for my Corsair.
I made a Corsair for their diversity. I knew I wanted to make one way back when Pirates were first announced in KMS, back when everyone thought Corsairs sucked. Sure, today more people are bandwagoning Corsairs but the point is, I made it because I knew I would enjoy playing it not because of the ZOMGHIGHDPS. You shouldn't play a class because of a bandwagon, high dps, or popularity in boss battles. If you don't actually enjoy the class then what's the point?

Play a character/class that fits your style and personality, screw what people thinks. If you want to play MS by a Tier-list, go for it. That's how any community plays ANY games, is by Tier-lists, but it isn't necessary. If you like your class, jesus fck, go for it. I made a DK a long time ago because I like dragons, that was it. I didn't care for HB or whatever. I made a NL because I'd enjoy jumping at far distance and travelling fast (similar to how I play my Jigs and Fox in SSBM, I like the feel of travelling fast). Why the hell do you care if people thinks your class is useless?

What's the point of making a new character if you're only going to leech it to high levels before you play? People already know they're gonna be fun or something?
I don't see why people leech characters to 120+ for any reason other than for high DPS.
Besides my Bishop, I have 3 120+ characters which have never been leeched by my Bishop :3

Usually I don't care (otherwise I wouldn't have got to level 159/145 in the first place), but after a while soloing sucks. It's true that, as mentioned before, other people is what makes an MMO an MMO, it revolves around joining forces with others to achieve goals on your character. Things are generally more fun when the experience is shared (literally and otherwise). To be left out on the basis that I didn't choose a desirable character gets me down if it happens repeatedly over a long period of time, which it has.
@ above, When I started leeching my outlaw at level 106 (pure grind before then), I had a small feeling I'd probably end up hating the character, but I went ahead and did it anyway. Upon finding out my motives were not what I thought they were, turns out I didn't grow to hate the character itself, but just the fact that I wanted it to be a high level so it'd be accepted by others, rather than because I wanted it to be a high level myself.
Also dear god this stuff I'm typing sounds sickening to read back over. PITY PARTY WITH TEA AND CRUMPETS~

the maple population is indeed corrupt with power :x.
my NL has 160 base dex at level 132, but that was before it got hacked recently and now i dont even want to touch it. Many people criticized my base dex saying its stupid/retarded. the thing is i didnt give a damn and wanted to be a traditional sin build, not one of those power hungry kids

I gave up caring about class demand after I was booted from LPQ parties for a sin ages ago. Been going solo since then without any issues at my own pace, and if you ask me, for the most part I've gotten my entertainment from the game just fine like that. Sure, I still don't boss; but that's devolved into a business anyway. Where's the fun in business?
For me, I came from a Private server of RO before coming to MS (7x Rate). I don't touch illicit crap like that anymore, but what I did there was make each and every class to their second job tiers and enjoy them a little before moving onto the next one. When I started MS, I created a character for EVERY class. Basically, I played all of them to about 15 until I decided which was the most fun for me and then stuck with it. Since 3rd job was coming out at the time and I liked Ice, I went Xbow. I stuck with it and end of story.
No-one told me what class to play or how to enjoy it. I just did it my way. My advice; just find friends who are friends to you, not your character, and stop caring about such things. All MMOs these days eventually break down into businesses, and if you let yourself get drawn into things like efficiency or profit, you lose the point of it. To have fun.
