Edit : Oh! As for the lag... It CAN'T be just distance lag. In JMS and KMS, the ONLY lag I get is pick-up lag, which is easily solved by getting a pet.

People are saying there's potion and skill lag, which means it's more than just the distance lag. Maybe Singapore/Malaysia's internet strength isn't as strong as other countries' and thus, MapleStory lags more than it should when playing from other countries outside of Singapore the surrounding areas.

So I lag when playing GlobalMS too, is your server crappy and has "bad internet service"? Simply no.

....... I play in the US. IF you live closer to singapore and what not of course you wont lag. When I connect to jMS theres like no problems with lag due to lower latency between my client and the server. do you want to know the cause? jMS pays more/has a better connection to run their servers. SIMPLE.

Same thing happens with other games, just look at counterstike, there are Japanese hosted servers. a majority of them show up as 300 ping(very high) A handful of them are actually okay to play on ..due to the players actually paying for the T1 connection.

PS: gMS has shitty connections too.

Why are you guys arguing about lag? Some people lag, and some don't. Obviously, the closer you live to Singapore/Malaysia, you'll lag less. Same with GMS/United States. That being said, how is any of this debatable?

yes I agree that our internet isn't that good. 100mbps i think is the max for now ( because we're still using copper wires ==!)
Singapore is still setting up the fibre-optic network which may catch up the speeds of America in the future( probably by 2012), but not now.

probably not just because of the distance

e.g playing KMS from singapore does not lag me at all
