running 2 or more maplestory
#21
there are only 2 problems with doing this, neither one much of a problem. Just make sure you dont get too fast switching accounts or you run the risk of PC auto-rebooting or the mouse no longer working for some reason. And dont try to run too many accounts, imo would just take too long to switch users and personally see no reason to run more then 3 accounts.

Ew... I was actualy going to try this. D: *On win7* If Vista doesn't work, I'm going to guess Win7 got 'fixed' too. :[
Why does Nexon spend so much time 'fixing' things that don't hurt the game...? LF>Bug fixes pls.

I've tried opening multiple Maplestories many times, but its never actually worked for me. Somehow, it always seems to work for other people, so I have no idea what's up with that. I'm using XP. Goggleemoticon

Ok. It's pretty long.

I recieved a 6month ban for "Account Sharing" for doing exactly this. From nexon' perspective it is very obvious that the same computer is running multiple clients. All 3 accounts are now off the rankings permanently.

That WONT work.
You need 2 different computers.

So explain to me how I'm running two MapleStory's now?

I can confirm that Windows 7 can run two MapleStory's by using two different user accounts.

Guess my computer is just old Tongue, i have XP though, and ive tried running 2 maplestorys before.

But using 2 computers is much easier than 2 accounts on the same computer.

How is using 2 computers easier than using one computer? Tongue

I can still run VMware fine since the hackshield thing. Only problem is that Vmware itself seems buggy... It's slow and laggy when I open maple up in it. I think it has a memory leak or something; at it's worst point it uses like 1.2gb or memory. o.o

I can dual and triple log on XP just fine and I have a P.O.S. old computer. I did install 2 Gigs of RAM on it, though, so that's probably why it works with a minimum of lag.

I found no issues with switching user too fast or anything.

The only issue I have is, if I quit out of the client on one of my two secondary user accounts while Maple is running on any other account, I get a BSOD from EagleNT.sys failing and a memory dump, "system has recovered from a serious error" when I restart, and I can't shut it off from the BSOD except by a hard, pressing-the-button turn-off.

I've read up on it and it's one of the Hackshield drivers. Apparently, quitting the client closes it and then the other client freaks out and crashes my comp.

It doesn't do this when I quit the client from the account that I installed Maple on.

Any fix suggestions? I've thought of reinstalling Maple, because my last clean reinstall was when the other two accounts didn't exist. But I always have to reinstall Maple like 2-3 times to make it work, and I don't have the hard drive space to keep an installer around, so I have to redownload it. Tongue So, um... any easier fix suggestions?

I don't get the error if I just shut down the computer when I want to quit, so all 2-3 Maples get closed at once. But that's rather inconvenient for EXP pendant bonuses and whatnot. I would just leave them all running, but I can't Zakum while multi-logged without bad lag.

So... to answer the core issue, yes, it works... mostly.

EDIT: It's easier to use 2 computers because, say, if you're using it to have an HB mule, you can just go to the other computer and press the HB key. If you switch users, you have to wait for the computer to load each user account and it takes considerably more time, plus you can't see the screen for your main, so you can't pot or see urgent chats.

for some reason it wasn't working for me until I made the secondary account an administrator too. If you can't get it to work in XP, try having both being admins.

All of my accounts are admins.

I'm beginning to think that it's because the other accounts didn't exist when I installed Maple.

You weren't sharing accounts, the accounts were sharing you. Eek

My laptop runs on Vista and the error I got when I tried to open Maple on a second account turned up in Korean. Stunned I haven't tried much to make it work, but that I thought was a really bad sign lol. Sad
