Hi, I've used a Macbook for school things for 2 years (Rented), and I've had XP for god knows how long.
For what you're interested in XP would be better for you. Besides, you can't upgrade a mac unless you pick a stock option and send it back to be upgraded, and even then you need the top tier to get a good processor and enough RAM.
I could go on, but trust me. XP is much more suited to your needs.
