Did the girl deserve a lesson? Yup.
However, what kind of message are you sending if you correct her in the exact same way you're trying to teach her not to do (ranting in front of all her friends vs. uploading a video onto youtube that her friends can see)? I know this is public, but to the daughter it will look like punishing her in the exact way that he's telling her is wrong.
Also, something like this does not teach the daughter not to do it next time. This teaches her to be sneakier next time. This doesn't solve the problem. All it does is make the daughter hate her dad.
