No your ship doesn't reset, and the amount of durability left is shown in how much the buff icon is shaded.

Finally getting some answers from someone lol. That's very useful info right there. So if battleship only has 4/5k hp per point + 2k hp for every lvl past 120 you are...... that's not very much HP at all. Horntail is constantly dishing out 1/1s and 5k+ damage... it won't take long for your ship to break there.
