It at least gives everyone a fair chance. Right now the whole thing is based around "Who can throw the most money at the game".
Also, what do you mean "We're doomed"? Maple's already been on a downward spiral every since the introduction to the retarded system, in the first place. Being able to CHOOSE your stats at least gives it SOME saving grace.

There's a HUGE difference between spending in-game currency to buy a "Gamble" item and spending real life money to buy a "Gamble" item.
