Steam has pulled Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 from their service. EA claims that Valve has imposed a 'restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content' which is why they've been pulled.
My guess is Steam have a policy whereby any DLC for a game distrubted on Steam must also be distributed through Steam and violation of this policy gets the game pulled. I can see where both sides are coming from in regards to this. Unfortunately it's likely to be the customers who ultimately get screwed over. Here's an interesting read on platform power games from a developer perspective which is really what this is.
