You're blurring the lines far too much. That's like saying "I need to play video games to have fun therefore it is involuntary/a necessity!"
That begs the line being drawn for voluntariness, though.
Purely wanting to do something is voluntary, wanting to do it because of an ulterior motive may not be.
In essence, not wanting something is equivalent to wanting the opposite of it, thus, nobody is forced to do things against their will.
You may feel like the compulsion to be up to pars with one's peers is but a fickle desire, but that is really most there is to this game.
