Craft earrings/belts and reveal potentials -> Fuse the ones without potential -> Fuse the ones with potential for moar potential in your potential = profit?
The only downside is that with a 4 slot storage, it takes a while to do all the transferring.
About smith, I haven't been able to play a lot with it because of the quantity of materials the armors need. Imo, jewel crafting at least haves the advantage of having low material equips you can craft and then extract for advanced+ item crystals.
So eh, imo, jewel crafting and alchemy gets the cake for now. I'll get back here once I start playing with smithing.
