Most universities use some kind of mathematical formula to objectively weigh your grades with your SAT scores. If your SAT scores are low, you must have high grades to balance it out, and vice versa. Nonetheless, it's so much easier to score high on the SAT than to score high on grades that the opportunity shouldn't be passed up, and nobody should settle for something just slightly above average if they're serious about their academic future.
I do applaud the thread starter though. The SAT sucks for people who aren't native English speakers, since its two sections of English and one section of math. I would recommend the ACT, since the two sections of English are balanced with one section of math and one section of science.
