Just got my results for June 4th test.
1590 On first SAT.
470 on Critical Reading 630 on Math 490 on Writing 47MC and 8 Essay
Considering English is my second language, I did well, but I dont like those scores tho.
Retaking it!

I'm more concerned with APs, seeing as I'm already accepted into college. xD;
But, OP that score isn't bad but I recommend you take it again.

It's actually above average if anything. I think the average right now is around 1510? I got something like a 1670 my first time. Still not sure if I want to take it again.

Well yea, it is around average. However, "average" isn't going to get you into college.

You'd be surprised. My friend got into USC with a 1620, but her grades were really good. SAT doesn't solely determine whether or not you get into a good college :o

Standardized test scores are nothing but a benchmark for most colleges to glimpse at your application. Extracurriculars weighted against GPA is far more important.

It seems like everyone i know at berkeley got at least 2000 and up on the SATs...

For many colleges, generally larger state schools like Penn State, Ohio State, etc., you're just a number. SAT/ACT and GPA usually weigh the most in the decisions.

On the 5/7 SATs I got a 2020 - 630/790/600 (reading/math/writing)
First time I took the SATs for "real" (I took them before when I was in middle school to see how I was, no clue what my scores were lol) - 0 studying. pineappling yes!

I've heard stuff that SAT scores are normally distributed, but I don't know.....
Standardized tests generally reflect how much money you spend on them.

Most universities use some kind of mathematical formula to objectively weigh your grades with your SAT scores. If your SAT scores are low, you must have high grades to balance it out, and vice versa. Nonetheless, it's so much easier to score high on the SAT than to score high on grades that the opportunity shouldn't be passed up, and nobody should settle for something just slightly above average if they're serious about their academic future.
I do applaud the thread starter though. The SAT sucks for people who aren't native English speakers, since its two sections of English and one section of math. I would recommend the ACT, since the two sections of English are balanced with one section of math and one section of science.
