Watching sports is good entertainment, especially watching your city being represented by a sports team. The same can be said for anything done in leisure. Why read, why play games, or why do anything at all? It's because they're things people enjoy doing. If you don't enjoy sports, that's fine.
If you meant sports in general, it's something we do for enjoyment as well. Who'd play sports if nobody enjoyed playing them? It's also a good way to spend time with people, meet new people, and get some exercise.
