It sounded to me like TRADITIONALLY (as in games other than maplestory) a merge involved literally taking all the data from one world and copy pasting to a different one, then deleting the other world. However, TRADITIONALLY (as in maplestory) a merge involved linking two servers just like he described without deleting/C&Ping anything which also means less room for error. Kind of an accent misinterpretation there.
