It's what SEA did years ago. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Link - 2011-04-08 Um... isn't that the exact same thing as a WORLD MERGE, Nexon America? That's what KMS has done in the past... Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Worthyness - 2011-04-08 "The way it works is that both worlds still exist. Theyll remain on the select screen and players will log into them as they always have. Whichever world youre from, youll continue to be from. Whatever benefits you have from that world, youll still have them. The only change is that players from both worlds will be able to play together, form guilds, get married, and generally do all the things players can do with other players in their own world. From the perspective of a player in either world, itll be as though you just had a huge influx of new players into your world. Were really excited about this approach and well be trying it out this month. Stay tuned for an announcement about which worlds will be involved." Isn't this essentially a server merge? :f6: EDIT: super ninja'd Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Netto - 2011-04-08 Sounds like world merges are coming to GMS. Yellonde? Expecting/10 I hope this really helps out smaller worlds because I'm bored with so few people I know in Bellocan. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Link - 2011-04-08 Merge Zenith with Bera, please. That will get rid of my buying a world transfer delima. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Alloy - 2011-04-08 ShiKage Wrote:Um... isn't that the exact same thing as a WORLD MERGE, Nexon America? Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Stereo - 2011-04-08 Only difference is, a world alliance gives your account 2 copies of pretty much everything. (cash shop, storage, etc.) Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - iRyahn - 2011-04-08 I don't understand his wording? It sounds exactly like a merge to me. ;_; Anyways aww, I really like Galacia's population and I hope it doesn't get merged..

Yeah, that's what they did in KMS. Each world intertwines with each other, but each world is "separate." You can log into one of the <number> of worlds that are connected with each other and play with your friends, guild mates, etc., but you can't transfer money, items, and the like between the characters in different "worlds" unless you use a trusted person or another computer to do so. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - street - 2011-04-08 Good dev blog like always. I just hope windia doesn't become overun with scania people riding the free transfer ticket Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - SaptaZapta - 2011-04-08 Eurydice Wrote:The way it works is that both worlds still exist. To me it sounds like they will merge the worlds, but make two entry points to the merged world. The merged world will have two names, that's all. I bet if you do a "/find" on someone who logged in from the other world, you'll get the reply that they're in your world. If you can marry someone from the other world, you can be on the same map. If you can be on the same map, you can KS... We of the small worlds lose our biggest benefit, that of having space to train and a decent chance at finding free-spawning bosses or an FM spot. And Nexon gains the machines they used for one of the worlds... so they can create another new one with zip population but much promotion? Eurydice does say the freed-up computers will definitely not be used to add channels to Scania and other crowded worlds. Do Not Want. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Takebacker - 2011-04-08 It sounded to me like TRADITIONALLY (as in games other than maplestory) a merge involved literally taking all the data from one world and copy pasting to a different one, then deleting the other world. However, TRADITIONALLY (as in maplestory) a merge involved linking two servers just like he described without deleting/C&Ping anything which also means less room for error. Kind of an accent misinterpretation there. @above: No, i don't think doing this will free up any hardware for them to use/sell. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Overlord - 2011-04-08 "offer a certain number of free character transfers out of Scania" I've read this somewhere.. hmm. That'd be somewhat a good thing to do Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Nesso - 2011-04-08 I don't get this world alliance. It's unclear, and from the sound of it, it's better to just say merge. For example, in Aika, when you chose a server to play, it'd pop up with two choices. One was PvE, where no one could leave or enter that server. The second was PvP, where anyone could come and go to any of the five servers. Both were completely separate as well. Would it be like that? Either way, we'll find out this month, I guess. Here's to hoping for a Mardia/Zenith alliance. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Jedward - 2011-04-08 Nesso Wrote:Here's to hoping for a Mardia/Zenith alliance. Though this would be great, I honestly prefer Bera/Zenith. That solves a lot of problems, especially for the Southperry alliance. Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - ShinkuDragon - 2011-04-08 well, the difference between a server merge and a player merge is that both worlds still act as separate worlds, stuff that would affect one of the 2 worlds, will affect only players from such job, so if a 2x event goes on for only one world, only that population would benefit from it. not to mention what stereo said, you would basically be entitled to 6 characters (new account, 3 in one, 3 in the other) and cash shop items would be separate. i am pretty sure world transfers would also work in this case between the 2 worlds, although only reason you would have to do this would be to move account-bound items to the players in the other half of the world, and CS items. you could think of it as seeing people from a parallel dimension i guess o.O Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - ShanghaiDizzy - 2011-04-08 Personally, I'd be more worried about whether or not Nexon can make a world alliance successfully without any glaring errors. :| Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Zelkova - 2011-04-08 Oh god... Bera + Zenith would make a HUGE SP Alliance. @_@ Dev Blog -- Make Room, Make Room! - Connor - 2011-04-08 This sounds confusing. All I would really want is to have a normal amount of channels back and to have Chaos Horntail available in Mardia and the other worlds with only 13 channels. If this world merge thing allows the smaller worlds to have 19 or 20 channels again I'd be satisfied. Also, Nesso Wrote:Here's to hoping for a Mardia/Zenith alliance. |
