Ignoring the distasteful ASCII diagram, you've never heard of the concept called mobbing, have you?
Furthermore, it looks like you've twisted what I mean about jumping onto platforms and staying on them. Not once have I said anything about being in the middle of a platform. There's more than enough space on each platform to combat mobs without needing to stay at the very edge, especially since the minimum attack distance has been eliminated. The only reason why I can imagine you have so much difficulty staying on a platform is because you cannot determine how far enemy damage knockback takes you or you jump attack needlessly and get hit midair causing you fall off the edge easily.
