Actually, you have to factor in that with throwing star mastery from 4th job, it gets both the base damage and the SP damage boosted, too, so it's basically a skill dealing 437.5% damage, with the SP hits dealing 62.5% damage from that. Also, don't let the numbers fool you, it's the same speed, but it can trick you because TT hits for longer, and the next hit connects before the numbers fade away.

If anything, it'd depend on your venom level. if it's high enough, you'd have a good interest in having both mobs poisoned, not just the one in front.
