Just kidding. Doesn't matter where you go, as long as you know how to shop. I'm not too picky on brands of cologne, as long as it smells nice. Also, hopefully doesn't smell too perfumy. I've never tried either of those brands, but Vanilla isn't the type of scent I'd go for.
With the D&G one, the vanilla is an undertone scent. I forget what the primary scent to it was but it was sorta spicy, but the hint of vanilla was there all the same.
I tried to picture me smelling like that, as I did with other samples I was given by the sales guy, and those two stuck out as ones I felt were best for me.
