Two cologne's I found today in Macy's I liked, and can't pick which I'd prefer. They both work for me, at least.
Dolce & Gabbana - The One.
or
Lacoste - Challenge.
D&G had a hint of vanilla to it's scent, and was subtle but recognizable I felt, whereas the Lacoste cologne had a certain je ne se quois about it that just felt like "take on the world with pride" sorta smell to it, I felt.
Anyone know either of these scents and mind throwing their two cents in?

My dad uses the Lacoste stuff and I don't like it. I've never used DG products so I can't say. I've been using this John Varvatos "vintage" stuff lately and it is god-tier and I think it's cheaper too

Next time I go out I'll give that stuff a sample sniff, see how it fairs compared to the other two.

Just kidding. Doesn't matter where you go, as long as you know how to shop. I'm not too picky on brands of cologne, as long as it smells nice. Also, hopefully doesn't smell too perfumy. I've never tried either of those brands, but Vanilla isn't the type of scent I'd go for.

With the D&G one, the vanilla is an undertone scent. I forget what the primary scent to it was but it was sorta spicy, but the hint of vanilla was there all the same.
I tried to picture me smelling like that, as I did with other samples I was given by the sales guy, and those two stuck out as ones I felt were best for me.

One cologne that seems like its really nice is that polo stuff in the blue bottle. All of my "BRO INCORPORATED" friends have it so it must be awesome, but I have never tried/smelled it

There is none. I've just been wanting to get a cologne for a while now but never bothered to get around to it 'cause I'd had other priorities. Those've been dealt with, so I'm just going down the list.
The two I listed would both cost ~$50 for the smaller size (tax not included), but the D&G would come with a body wash (which I'd just give to some random hobo anyways cuz I prefer my Irish Spring soap), and the Lacoste comes with a travel bag with any purchase (which might be useful to store a set or two of gym clothes in).

Did you know that cologne is "Toilet Water" in French? Oh wait, my bad, that's "perfume", which is essentially the same thing, but cologne is for men.

I get the je ne sais pas feeling about most perfumes/colognes. The smell I find most appealing in those stores is the coffee bean jar.
