More people equals more demand equals more opportunity for positions to fulfill the demand.
Adding to the denominator is the only way to increase the numerator in some conditions.
Example: a restaurant suddenly has double the number of patrons, it needs more servers and possibly another cook to keep up.
A grocery store has more customers, it needs more cashiers available during peak hours.
This isn't that challenging of a concept. It's win win. More traffic = more spending = more earning = more jobs.
