I listened to rap till about middle school since that's what my siblings listened to. I just would take their CDs. Then in middle school I got my own computer and started to download m y own music, and I started listening to more alternative rock because I was growing tired of the retarded lyrics in rap. About this time my best friend and his brother started listening to bands like Cradle of Filth which really turned me off from metal since I thought they sounded horrible and they had horrible lyrics. For a few years I was very close minded to heavier metal, till my friend started driving and he'd drive me to school. He played a lot of metalcore in his car, and I liked it a lot more since it sounded more varied and had decent lyrics. Now that's all I listen to now, pretty much.
